    Here I pass on a tip for making sure your casters stay in tip top condition for up to a week. This means that should the opportunity arise for some fishing you don’t have to go to the tackle shop, just grab the bait you need and go. Bill

    Great info, Bill. You have no idea at the number of friends I have suggested to watch your channel. And, thanks for translating casters for me. We just say maggots. It’s like I’m learning a new language! Get better soon. Your impact on the fishing community is more than you know, mate.

      Andrew Seadon Hi well I’m glad you have discovered the pleasure of simple whip fishing. Makes a change from sitting behind a pair of buzzers doesn’t it! Can be very effective cheap fun. Bill

    Thanks bill. I didn’t know that. I genuinely thought this wouldn’t teach me anything and as usual it was really useful. I’ve wasted hundreds of pounds on casters which I didn’t fish using over the years. Brilliant advice.
    I’d love an episode on fishing caster.
    And I hope you get on the bank soon. You deserve some decent health.

    Great video again
    After my fishing session, I always keep maggots left and let them turn into casters, and use it next week.
    Feeding hemp and using casters on hook helped me catch bigger roach in a friendly match, 😀😀

    Hi bill can you please give me tips on catching tench at the embankment?. I haven't caught many tench there. I only really had one early autmn at the disabled spot on the back river and I'm preparing for next summer

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  5 років тому

      Tommy Thompson Fishing Hi well a weed rake is essential just so you can present a bait cleanly. Have a squint at my short underwater video to know why. I only use a short pole as the presentation can’t be bettered. Strong tackle is essential as the fish go to double figures. Try to avoid maggots and try a hard banded pellet or corn. Fish on the roadside of the river as that’s where the deep channel runs from the engineer’s bridge downstream. Fish very early or late. Be prepared for big bream and carp as well. Have a look at my video river Tench . Bill

    • @xboxplayz844
      @xboxplayz844 5 років тому

      @@easyfishing1936 Thank you Bill for this advice, I'm sure I will use it come late spring or Early summer, it would rather nice to catch a river carp tench or bream as all the tench carp and bream have either been at local commercial fisheries or gravel pits. Once again apreciate you for telling me this information

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  5 років тому

      Tommy Thompson Fishing Hi no problem to help. The embankment is either feast or famine so be prepared and flexible. For instance if you find the small fish a nuisance get a whip out and feed maggots and after a while you may well find that big fish are underneath them feeding on the maggots that the small fish missed. You can encourage this by feeding quite heavily for a short while then carry on feeding lightly and trying a bigger bait on strong gear on a bottom rig from time to time. If the bites suddenly stop be ready for a much bigger fish. If it’s clear water be prepared to use bread punch feeding likky with some extra weight because there are some beautiful roach in there. Have fun and if you see me fishing come and say hello. Bill

    When should you use casters?& what’s the difference between them and maggots?in terms of what conditions to use them in?

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  5 років тому +1

      Jack Brennan Hi casters seem to single out better fish most of the time, they also sit inert on the bottom or rest on top of weed. Fish just seem to love them fed in combination with hempseed or chopped worm. Bill

    how much is a pint of casters nowdays. ? im just about to come have another go at course fishing after a 30+ year break..... my local shop in s london a pint of maggots is £3.50,
    and £6 for a bag of groundbait..? £4.99 for a tub of hemp.? seems a bit pricey... i will be making my own groundbait i think

  • @davidinger961

    What's your method of preping hemp seeds I was told in a flask , rather than the odour cooking it on a stove, can you freeze casters? Keep warm, tight lines dave

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  5 років тому

      david inger Hi well with hempseed you have two choices. Half fill a vacuum flask and fill to about 3/4 full with boiling water, put the top on and leave overnight. Make sure you don’t overfill or the flask will burst and in the morning they will be ready to go. Don’t throw away the water as it’s great for mixing groundbait . The other method requires the seed to be left in a saucepan overnight, then gently simmered until the seed just split exposing the kernel. Freeze any left overs in bags. Unfortunately casters don’t seem to be effective on the hook when frozen. Bill

    Could you freeze them in the bag instead of using the J Cloth?

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  5 років тому

      gavin mcnamara Hi I have tried freezing casters but it doesn’t seem to work. The only use I would have for them is possibly adding them to a cheap pre baiting mix. Normally left over casters are fed to the birds or the fish and there normally not much leftover! Bill

  • @petemason57
    @petemason57 5 років тому

    Another quick tip. On the bank empty your casters into a container of water and those casters that float scoop them out and through away. Save only if surface fishing.
