Hi Dave. Nice to hear about your new show. I will check it out. This wood trammel is nice. What I do is put a prusik loop on the line, and run the toggle thru the bail then up to the prusik loop. Then I just slide the prusik up and down as needed for height. Easy as pie. I use a 7.5 cup pot. never tried to hang a cast iron pot or a 5 gallon bucket that way. Might still work..
A great video, an easy-to-make trammel. I had a similar "problem" to solve couple of weeks ago when I was in a boyscout competition: needed to brew some coffee in the morning over a fire, so I just made a doublefishermans loop and used a larks head knot for the toggle. It was a bit cumbersome to use but it gave stepless control over the fire.
I like the fact that you explain in detail how this or that works. your able to translate the sence of things in a way that the majority of people can understand.
Last year you showed me how to do the same basic thing by using the cordage wrapped at the top for the big adjustment and the Trammel knots for the small adjustment. That was so freaking easy I could not believe it. I gotta stick with the old school on this. Nice gun!
very cool and simple!! i was about to jump on you at the start with the metal one. thinking there was no way i would have one with me unless at a permanent site. i like this wood set up. Thanks for sharing this, Dave!!!
dave that new show dirty rotten survival is a really good show brother u killing it !!! big fan since the discount bushcraft kit video u did way before dual ..... keep the good work on brother!
david , seeing that revolver on your hip got me wondering if by any chance u can do a series on cowboy style gear ... what they toke for scout trips , long trips , what type of edc , food etc like you did with the long hunters... i haven't see any of this videos on youtube ... thanks brother !!!!
that is clever. putting a slight angle on the 7 notch downward instead of straight across would give a little more security. but, like you said i just take another wrap around the tripod leg. a long cord with a toggle, fish mouth spreader, and a Pathfinder bottle works great.
thanks again sir !! im building a winter / year around lean too with my youngest !!!thinking dakota fire hole to heat and cook. this rope trammel is the answer im needing to treat waterand cook :-)
Thanks Dave! It looks like a brilliant idea to me. I'm wondering though, if the tramel gets hot to the touch when moving the pot from boil to simmer? I suppose gloves would be the easy solution to that issue, wouldn't it? :) Thanks again and God bless!!!
Please host a knot class at your Beech Grove store location. I promise you would have people come out of the wood work for that lesson. Thank you, and God Bless.
+wildernessoutfitters Dave, found out there's full episodes of Dirty Rotten Survival on UA-cam. Whoo Hoo!!! I've watched the first two episodes. IMHO, it's the best survival show on television. No staged drama, no ego clashes, nobody constantly whining about their compromised never ending mission, and everybody wears shoes. Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Hope it's a big hit. Way to go man.
+bc65925 If you have seven holes, spaced one inch apart, the distance between the ends is six inches. It might help to think of the first hole as "zero."
If you made it out of a steel pipe with the same idea as the stick, it would last, it can be used as a club, don't add a lot weight, multi functional, cheap.
this is a good idea but i would be concerned about heating the bank line, most poeple i know make a fire about 15times larger than they need for camping( most people i see are rookies). just make sure you are using a small conservative fire and this will be great. nice idea dave.
Dave! It's so cool to see you on TV again...congrats! We've been missin' ya!
Loving the Six, and the knowledge share, thanks Dave. Congrats on the new show.
That's a fantastic idea. Perfect for a long weekend camp. Thanks for sharing this one.
Amazing how things like these are so so simple and yet so brilliant.

Nice little project right there. I like the simple cooking implement stuff that can be done with just a knife and saw. My kind of wood craft.

third episode comes on Tuesday...I love that show great job Dave
Pretty cool
7 up and 7 down = 14 inches of travel, not sure how that math works. If you start in the very top hole and move clear to the bottom that's 7 inches.
+bc65925 It is Hilbilly math and it's wrong as I said in the end of the video length of trammel determines travel, at least your paying attention
However, there is a return to almost every journey.
+bc65925 If you have seven holes, spaced one inch apart, the distance between the ends is six inches. It might help to think of the first hole as "zero."
Beautiful steel on that knife. What is it's composition?
OMG this is awesome
Thank you for the video Good idea. : ) Tyler
Dave: I didn't see your Canterbury Camp Kitchen in that book. I remember it from your video, but where is it in the book?
thats just pretty cool
If you made it out of a steel pipe with the same idea as the stick, it would last, it can be used as a club, don't add a lot weight, multi functional, cheap.
I'm lazy so I'd use the toggle, string, and Siberian hitch knot at the top of the tripod.
How do I access the Pathfinfer trade blanket? Thank you

wich knife did you use?that looks very nice and im interested in it.
great video!
+Jan Thies He tells you in the video.
cool hand gun!
10* Yes wood tramel stick. Yup!
Why are you wearing a revolver?
show em how to use tree limb's with short cut limb shots as hocks for longer reach when short on rope
+Russell Karnes I have videos on that brother
Outstanding.
thanks brother , you have got me reworking or remaking the old tool's and trail gear.
Keep your powder dry
What size of bank line are you using?
+Dominick Atanasio #36
you change the angle of your notches a little you could do away with the cord, just make your stick longer
+keith moore I have a video on this technique as well, but it is not near as stable
What's the iris tattoo for
that's his wife's name.
his wife
What knife is that?
+Martin Alexander Johnsen PKS Phantom 2
@wildernessoutfitters Dave, your holster is on the wrong side! Jk

Great to see the sidearm Dave. Nice to know we aren't all perishing in the flood of political correctness.
