Dave this would be a great thing to have students do in the early days of pathfinder study..its simple..effective..and opens lots of doors in self reliance ..i will be trying this and will show those that i teach this simple design.. and i will call it the pathfinder pack frame..to give credit...super job Dave..thanks for all that you do for the bushcraft brotherhood....safe journeys
This is seriously cool. I love this. This works great if you are in a SHTF situation and you are the only one with a pack in your group. You could easily make packs for the others and get everyone moving. Love this idea.
Nice one for the toolbox. The beauty of things like this are that when you are in the stuch they help give you a little more confidence as well as something practical. Those little lifts are what get you through the dark times.
Videos like this one are the reason I watch your channel. The well practiced knowledge you share, Dave, is invaluable. But, this, this is an idea that can make a real difference to a body out in the woods with just a few standard carry items with them.
Simple, fast, comfortable, works. What more do you want? Good idea. I will keep it in mind. One of those things that might save me in a bad situation if I just file it away in my memory.
Very good presentation! I will definitely have to make one, especially the next time I go to my dads, I can show him something new! Thanks for the info!
I enjoyed this a lot, I will have to show this to my grandsons and granddaughter. I will change the way the gear is held on a little to try and used the rope for a cushion, It may not work but I will try it before showing the kids. Thanks again.
Dave (or anyone else): Which would be better for an all-around bushcraft knife- the Mora Black or the Martinii Timberjack? I mean for things like carving packframes & cooking tripods (specifically the Canterbury Camp Kitchen- great idea, in my opinion).
I enjoyed your double wye pack frame. I have looked for a video on how to properly add the 90degree grind on the spine of a knife and I cannot find one . Could you do that in a video? I hope this is simpler than I think. Thanks! I have watched over 100 of your videos and I trust in your knowledge.
I'd like this sort of thing a lot more if you could semi-quickly access what you put in your pack without having to detach it from the frame. Certainly fine for carrying stuff like game, and loads that you won't need to unpack frequently though. As someone else said, perhaps on the day 2 version?
4570levergun That was my first thought as well. Well, where I'm from it would be white tail, but still it makes for a great way to tote out game. No need to carry in a pack, just a folding saw and some cordage, which could be carried in a cargo pocket. Thanks Dave!
Cool idea. I will use this the next time my wood frame falls apart. I use them in conjuntion with my US Army Duffle bag. Wouldn´t trade it for a Fjällräven backpack. Lot cheaper too:)

That's good stuff right there.
Like the old videos you did back in the beginning. Classic Canterbury clever. Love it.
Thank you.

I'd be interested to see the day two version after its had a night of being worked on by campfire light.
Not a bad idea Dave. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I can't wait to show it to my friends this weekend. Thanks!
Very nice pack frame. Looks super easy.
that's an amazing V to make a any inverted V pack frame with, no need to tie the top, only the crossbar.
Brilliant woodcraft Dave, you are a true woodsman.
Good idea Dave.
Sweet. Thanks for the video Dave..
I've made several pack frames but never one this simple. I'll use that. Thanks Dave.

Great idea !!! Thanks Dave !!!
Great job Dave thank you
Very nicely done
Great job Dave keep it up
Great idea! Thank you.
Dave Canterbury do ya think it would make a difference over time to use a hard wood as opposed to a soft wood so the tension isn't as affected?
I could see refining one of those into a very nice piece of kit
Just a really cool idea, definitely gunna be using this man. Thanks a lot

Excellent idea, Dave. Hope you don't mind if I incorporate this, with credit to you, in my basic and advanced wilderness survival classes.
nice variation of a pack frame,
thanks
Really cool, chief. Way easier than the Roycroft. Will be practicing with this. Thanks!
Simple geometry, brilliantly applied. As if Buckminster Fuller had turned his hand to bushcraft.
Thanks, great idea.

Hey dave im big on traditional/native lookin necklaces and yours catches my eye r they hand made?? And r they buy-able??
Awesome, buddy!
always the master Dave! God has blessed you w woodsy genius! God bless brother!
Very inventive, it was new to me that's for sure.
Does this offer an advantage over a bed roll pack?
Bobby Harper carry heavier loads with it
There's a game called day Z. It's a realistic zombie survival game. One of the improvized backpacks in the game looks very very similar to this.
Simple and effective! I'm going to go build one right now...
Not a bad way to carry a elk quarter in a pinch. Cool idea.

I love down and dirty, functional equipment on the fly.
Nice and simple.
Very cool.

Freemason pack frame? very cool.

Bosse from Sweden
