Wild dogs Hunting Waterbuck

- Опубліковано 3 лют 2021
- A throw back to one of the best sightings during our Stay@Home Safari’s series. After watching the pack of wild dogs hunt a large herd of impala and missing, they bump into a mother and calf waterbuck. After being chased into the water by the dogs, the little waterbuck managed to escape from a large pod of hippos, who were not impressed with the disturbance in their waterhole. After a few hours the wild dogs gave up and the Mother and calf waterbuck managed to escape unharmed.

Imagine being stuck between being torn apart by a pack of wild dogs or being crushed to death in the jaws of a hippo. Rough life.
I said The same thing
If really got to choose, then let's die on hippo's jaw. One shot die rather than eating alive
I see what they mean when they say "pick your poison"
I deal with that everyday.
If it were crocodiles in the water, that thing would’ve been dead a long time ago.
Incredible the waterbuck in the water: he survived many charges of the hippopotamus and still has the strength to reach the side of that small lake. And then he knows that in between he stays safe.
She***
The Males have horns while females don't
King
... pretty sure he didnt stay safe for long lol

That is one badass Buck. Managed to avoid getting itself eaten by Wilddogs and Hyenas. How it manage to dodge all of the hippos attacks is interesting.
There were no hyenas in this video.
You call that a badass. It just kept running. These bucks need to learn how to fight. It's a big animal with 2 long horns. There's no excuse they can't take out the dogs with that. Maybe not the hippo in the water, but on land, it has a chance. Take lessons from the little honey badger.
@@junofranco6638 Honey badgers are more equipped than antelopes. They are maneuverable. Also, painted dogs are some of the most agile canines out there. Try attacking one and it will likely dodge the attack and now you've got the whole pack eating you.
@@randomkinkajou5747 I would not call the honey badger any more equipped than the bigger predators. It cannot outrun any of them and they have no size or strength advantage. The only advantage they have is their tough skin. True, they have claws and strong bite, but so do the predators. The honey badgers survive and win its battles by being fearless. That's why the predators, particularly the inexperienced young cubs, gets shaken up seeing something that small who's willing to fight them. This buck and antelopes are bigger than the dogs, and have long horns like spears, which they can use to impale one or two of the dogs, that should be enough to scare them off.
@@junofranco6638 Actually, it wins the battles because the predators realise that such a small meal fighting back is not worth the effort. A giraffe is likely to become prey to a lion, while a honey badger could escape a lion, but would get stomped by a giraffe. Honey badgers are hardy, but prey animals can be hardier.
Oh my poor Waterbuck. Such a hard and stressful life for prey in the wild. Thank you Savanna.
Is like that due to human expansion. Animals have less and less space to move further
Animals are basicaly forced to live in a restrain area
@@Dragosflash Not necessarily, although that could play a part, but in my thinking it is that which happens between prey and predator, pure instinct, real and true.
They evolved alongside their predators. Nothing "poor" about them. The vast majority of them don't get eaten.
@@SaadKhan-xn1xv Yes I agree, in so much as they evolved alongside their predators but this situation, in my opinion, is particularly harsh.
@@annettelane659
Well, they are responsible for their safety and survival. The vast majority of waterbucks don't fall prey to predators. The ones who fail to escape or defend themselves get what's coming to them.
This one is much "harsher":
ua-cam.com/video/A_TwK_G1H4M/v-deo.html
Dude...the abundance of big animal species in this one area is insane
Alaska and Canada is a bit similar to Africa in terms of predator density, but Africa still has way more large animals.
The last refugee of megafauna
Wow the instinct of the waterbuck to get to the edge of water.. it's brilliant.
Wild dogs need to surround bigger prey to be successful.
Yeah.. until they meet a Hippo or crocodile..
Its not that smart. A basic capacity to plan would have allowed it to escape into the woods multiple times. But its a dunder head and can only think for a few seconds at a time.
We humans have little knowledge about animals. They are not stupid that most of us think. Most of the time, they communicate in a way that is unknown to us and just because our brain with limited powers cannot detect it, we think of it as a stupid thing to do. Instinct is the easiest way for us to refer to animal's behaviour when we don't understand it. They are clever and are able to analyse their surroundings and actually make decisions.
@@easypimpin123 Quite the opposite. I bet if it was you, would of give up in the first 10 second and make an easy meal for the dogs. You seat behind the screen and probably having a cup of tea and say; hey you stupid animal why don't you run to the jungle. Ha Ha Ha.
@@palang2231 couldn't agree more. The communication barrier hides what could be immense intelligence.
From some reason I could feel the waterbuck's heartbeat
You need to change the title of this video. This is so much more than just wild dogs hunting. This kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you.
i love how the last water buck is jogging his way out
LOL, apparently hippos are just a**holes. Great video of a hunt on waterbuck.
Yeah, i hate hippos, they are always grumpy, they want to kill everything for no reason, grumpy d***heads
hippos are very territorial, they can easily kill anyone who walk trought
lol apparently humans are s assholes. we wager war and kill massive amounts of our own species and slowly destroy the planet we all live on as well
@@tormodhag6824 You got that right!
@@DrewWasMe of course most people are an exception its only a few doing it all. You and me are probably not doing much destruction its only the top leaders and the richest people. But what are we gonna do? tell chinese rich men to "please stop using coal"?
I have always LOVED big cats. Cheetahs were my favorites as a child...but you cant deny the beauty of the Wild Dogs. Everything about them is graceful. They look docile and pack a punch. What amazing animals
If they’re so amazing then go play with a group of em
Yeah take em for pets and let your kids play with them.
@@rogerbarris1898 now that’s what I wanna see😂😂😂
@@rogerbarris1898 we as a species did that more that 30.000 years ago. These dogs are smart and dangerous, why would you approach Them??
@@ueks69 Human beings never domesticated African wild dogs. These African painted dogs cannot even genetically breed with dogs. Humans domesticated wolves and bred them in both personality and looks to be like domesticated dogs.
Waterbuck looked calm and confident. Gorgeous animal.
Yes I was saying the same thing. So elegant and regal in their appearance
Spectacular footage. Surely this won awards
Incredible and astonishing how the young one escaped the attacks from the ferocious Hippo.
Man was tryna hold on for dear life from those hippos

if "all my life I had to fight" was a waterbuck
I find it interesting that the waterbucks have eventually figured out these wild dogs do not do so well in water and thus always dash towards it to exploit this weakness anytime they are chased by them.

I think the Dogs realize there are bigger predators in that water
@@squalman8567 Could be.
@@squalman8567 On second thought those gators or Crocs are extremely sneaky and will be submerged and out of sight for either the bucks or the dogs. And the dogs are too hungry and focused on catching the buck.
in fight for life everything happen.
may one of them fall into water while running away.he realised they dont follow.
That Buck was having a really bad day!
Just like your ancestors did in the hands of yts
Crazy to think that the bucks are less scared of hippos and crocs than they are of the painted dogs! That really says ALOT about how successful they are at hunting.
Funny how the hippo goes at the impala in the water and seems to take it in its mouth, yet each time the impala is seen swimming ahead, unharmed. The hippo must be just scooting it along, like “get outta my water before I thrash ya.” Great video, keep them coming.
Hippo be like: *WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY POND!*
do you mean in my swamp?
These wild dogs are just savage. You have to feel bad for these bucks sometimes. Life is so cruel in the wild.
They need food! Dont you eat food too?
People always say that animals dont belong to zoo, but in the wild they are eaten alive.
Some argue that cruel isn't the word.. it's definitely indifferent to suffering though. African wild dogs are predators, but they're among the smaller predators and are easily driven off a kill. So they have to prioritize quick feeding above all else, and that means not making time to kill an animal that's already incapacitated and accessible for feeding. It's gruesome to us but it's just what works for them.
Savage? I'd say they're smart.

No matter how tough life gets, we're all still lucky to be human. Imagine being in the deers' situation, never having a day where you don't fear for your life.

After watching thousands of hours of Animals documentaries I concluded, this is the greatest scene to ever be recorded.
Entering, he saw that all the animals and birds, in their different species, groups and nations, were proclaiming, silently and aloud, “There is no god but He,” , and had thus turned the face of the earth into a vast place of invocation, an expansive assembly for the proclamation of God’s glory. ; He saw each of them to be like an ode dedicated to God, a word proclaiming His glory, a letter indicating His mercy, each of them describing the Maker and offering Him thanks and. It was as if the senses, powers, members and instruments of those animals and birds were orderly and balanced words, or perfect and disciplined expressions. The rays. Bediuzzaman said Nursi
Every waterbuck should built a pond in their home for safety.

Glad you enjoyed it
Prey animals never die of old age. They are pretty much guaranteed a bloody, gory end. The only question is when.
I’m glad the water bucks escaped lol
Did it..?
I doubt it
Yes waterbucks escaped wild dogs only to end up as lunch for the lions
the wild dogs will not feed thier pupes
I love the animals. It good if they all eat grass like buffaloe. Better then watching them chasing each other.
No-kill, but still a really good video. Great interaction... Those poor dear couldn't catch a break. LOL the only thing worse would have been crocodiles instead of hippos
In a fight between hippos and Crocs the hippo usually comes out on top
Hippos is actually the worse case scenario. Crocs a close second. Then you got hyenas, lions and those crazy ass dogs
Hippos are much worse than crocs, so I'm honestly astonished how that buck managed to dodge several of those 1,820 psi bites.
@@MrREAPERsz don’t forget leopards lol. Always waiting to ninja you off a tree
