I htink Mennonites are more than a religion...they are a closed culture, cultlike, with rigid, oppressive rules. For some people, I guess, living like that provides a sense of security. Life for them is simple, planned out by others, the rules are finite, not much room for imagination or ideas that don't fit with the official catechism.
I also have no idea how this channel got into my feed, but I really enjoyed listening to you and learning about Mennonits. I grew up in and still attend an a capella church and love how beautiful it can be too. Thanks for sharing. I'm subscribing to your channel.
A) how the heck did I get here; I’m a very cynical atheist. B) that was actually super enjoyable/educational C) I got pickled carrots from a Mennonite once and they were life-changing
I’m not a Mennonite but I am a Christian and this is the first video I’ve ever seen from you. I immediately followed and love that you openly share your faith with the world. I whole heartedly agree that we need more Christians to share their faith in a welcoming way that is more about sharing the love of Jesus and less about telling everyone else why they are wrong! Thank you for sharing so openly! ❤️
I'm not a mennonite. bur I am a born again Christian really enjoyed your vedio. loved seeing you as a Christian out in the open. like me. i learned so much more about the mennonites .
I am not Mennonite but I am a Christian. I think you answered even the awkward questions well. What I take from it is that we are more alike than different!
That one Girl that’s actually not true. Many Christian churches do not allow women to pastor churches. If you follow the Bible it does speak specificities to a woman’s role. Be careful not to confuse modern culture with Biblical principles. Mennonite women are not being forced to do something that they don’t want to do, they are freely aligning themselves with their faith, there is a big difference between the two.
@@thatonevegasgirl420 there are verses in the bible that talk about women not speaking in church (I think it's in 1 Corinthians), just most denominations don't follow those rules. I personally dont follow those rules because I believe Paul was speaking more to that specific church and culture but some people believe that everyone has to follow what Paul wrote. It's all about interpretation. Ultimately, believing that *Jesus Christ is Lord and that he died for our sins and was resurrected is what makes somebody Christian* so most Mennonites are Christian even if they don't hold the exact same beliefs as you :)
Franklin County, PA native here! I have never been treated anything but kindly by my Mennonite neighbors. As a black person living in a rural area I appreciate your way of extending love and grace to everyone around you!
Hi, Im African American and my husband is Mexican. We sell at a outdoor swap meet on the weekends. Every once in a while I notice three Mennonite couples walking around passing the day. The women were dresses modestly and the men were wearing the half beards. One particular saturday I had gotten enough nerve to say hello to one of the women,we stroke up a conversation. Such nice ladies! after talking for at least ten minutes they had to go. But before leaving one of the men said "you are absolutely invited to come to our church, do you need a ride"? They left me with a happy feeling, and a urgency to get things done! don't be lazy. I will never forget that "outsiders" are welcome in such a tight knit community never be afraid of the lord.
Thank you for answering these questions with such gentleness, candor, and humility. I'm an Orthodox Jew and I know how people can make assumptions about religious individuals and communities that are difficult to dispel without sounding combative.
Jen Segrest lol, ya I don't normally love it. But I think here it looks pretty cute. That one lady on HGTV does it a lot... Genevieve something is her name.
I have no idea why this video appeared in my feed, but I found it really interesting. As an Orthodox Jew, it was so interesting to see how many of these assumptions would be assumed about Orthodox Jews as well. I love how confident you were to answer these; I don't think I'd have the courage to do that. You're full of light!
Your last comment is probably one of the best compliments that any Christian could ever receive. May the G_d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob shine light on your path. Blessings to you.
I'm a Roman Catholic convert and I guess I watch a lot of religious videos which is why this was recommended to me but you earned yourself a subscription girly! Thank you for being a bright light in the Christian faith and sharing the nuances of your faith with Christians (and non-Christians) who may have different beliefs than you!
I carefully listened and found no pillars or absolutes which define Mennonites. Basically anything goes, but it depends on the preachers? Yes or no to alcohol, yes or no to color, yes or no to hair up or down, etc. Where are the pillars?
I’m a pro-choice atheist who stumbled on your channel! I have to say that even though we have different views on issues, I really enjoyed your video. You seem so sweet and nice! :)
@@breakbreakbreakbreakbreak Motherhood is the most important leadership role on the planet. That's why the powers that be encourage families to allow the government to take over the role of parenthood altogether.
You are a precious child of God...thank you for constantly saying, "I can't speak for others, but this is how I feel/what I do..." In our world today, I feel there are way too many 'blanket' assumptions/accusations about how others feel. How do they know what is in the minds and hearts of others? Keep up the purity and kindness and sweetness!
I am an agnostic atheist and also a part of the lgbt community sooo probably not your largest demographic lol however I find positive and negative in every kind and creed of people and am very interested in learning more about your way of life. I really enjoyed learning these things because I discovered I also had a lot of misconceptions. I just hope that even though we have very different beliefs, we can learn from each other and see the value in the diversity of this wonderful world. I wish more people could agree to disagree while still valuing each other’s paths. Anyway, you seem very kind and informative and have a way of explaining your beliefs without disrespecting or devaluing others and I really admire that. Great video, and I will definitely be watching more!
Stevie Ferrari as a Pentecostal/nondenominational Christian, the world need more people like you with open minded people❤️ thank you for your kindness!
I’m staying at a Ronald McDonald house and there was a Mennonite church that came and cooked dinner for everyone. It was so good. They made homemade tortillas with beans rice and chicken. So yummy
That’s really awesome! I worked for and lived in a Ronald McDonald House for 3 years. We don’t have an abundance of Mennonite families where I am from but there were so many groups from all walks of life that would come cook for the families staying there.
No I’ve been there too. It’s for children or families of children who spend time in the hospital. Gives parents a place to stay close to the hospital for free.
This was an awesome video! I am a Catholic Christian myself but love hearing the stories of my sister's and brothers in Christ! Keep spreading The Good News and thank you for being a light in this world! ✝️❤️🤘🏻
You are such a lovely ambassador for Christ and your denomination. Each topic was handled with poise and humility. Keep on shining your light! This was an absolutely delightful video to watch.
There's a great cookbook out called the Mennonite Community Cookbook. Lots of great recipes. You can find it online at Amazon. I have a spiral bound copy I found years ago that's really worn but I still use it.
It was so nice listening to you . I'm a Muslim and a practicing one at that . We too cover our heads in public but in our homes we can dress as we wish . I too prefer putting up my hair even when I'm not covering . This is the first time I've heard a Christian not drinking alcohol . I too have heard that toxicans are not allowed in bible. Anyway it was nice to know about different religions. That way we wont judge each other but be supportive of the other person's belief . I like to watch your videos . May God bless you .
Thank you for being so kind and not pushing your beliefs.. everyone in these comments are arguing over which religion is “correct”. These people are so childish.
The Bible very much allows intoxicants. One of the great miracles of Jesus was turning water into wine, for a wedding. Different Christian sects though do prohibit then, though it's not biblically based.
@@Canny-Octopus No honey, that is not true. She posted one of the strongest Scriptures that says that we Christians are not to drink alcohol. What Jesus changed the water into was the best grape juice those at the wedding had ever tasted. That and, it had zero time to ferment. Consider this too, if you don't mind, Jesus, being the Son of God came to earth to do His Father's will. He called men to follow Him and do as He did. How could He, they or us do God's perfect will with alcohol in our systems. We can't. The demons of alcohol, drugs, etc. are cast out time and time again in Jesus' name. Why? Because Christ came to set the captive free. Thank you if you took the time to read this! If you are a Christian don't take my word for all the above ask the Lord. He freely answers be it right away or over time, He still answers.
Thank you for your post and sharing about yourself. So if you want to run around in your pajama's all day long in your own home it's okay? Yes, that is a serious question. 😉 This ole Christian girl does it quite often! The cats don't care.
@@Joanla1954 She posted Ephesians 5: 18 which says, "Also, do not get drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery." It does not say, "do not drink wine" it says, "do not get drunk." Thus it is okay to drink alcohol as long as you don't get drunk, which is what she said some Mennonites do, while some abstain completely. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we go by "let scripture interpret scripture." Which was said by George Storrs. Thus rather than just take an interpretation of Ephesians 5: 18, we'd compare it to other Bible verses on the subject. "And wine that makes man's heart rejoice, oil that makes the face shine, and bread that sustains the heart of mortal man." - Psalm 104: 15 "Thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God's Kingdom." - 1 Corinthians 6: 10 "Do not look at the wine's red color as it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly, for in the end it bites like a serpent, and it secretes poison like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart will speak perverse things." - Proverbs 23: 31-33 "Do not be among those who drink too much wine, among those who gorge themselves on meat" - Proverbs 23: 20 "For a drunkard and a glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe one with rags." - Proverbs 23: 21 "Then he said: 'Bring me some of the wild game for me to eat, my son, then I will bless you.' With that he brought it to him and he ate, and he brought him wine and he drank." - Genesis 27: 25 "Go, eat your food with rejoicing, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for already the true God has found pleasure in your works." - Ecclesiastes 9: 7 "And on the third day a marriage feast took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage feast. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him: 'They have no wine.' But Jesus said to her: 'Woman, why is that of concern to me and to you? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to those serving: 'Do whatever he tells you.' Now there were six stone water jars sitting there as required by the purification rules of the Jews, each able to hold two or three liquid measures. Jesus said to them: 'Fill the jars with water.' So they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them: 'Now draw some out and take it to the director of the feast.' So they took it. When the director of the feast tasted the water that had now been turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (although the servants who had drawn out the water knew), the director of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him: 'Everyone else puts out the fine wine first, and when people are intoxicated, the inferior. You have saved the fine wine until now.' Jesus did this in Cana of Galilee as the beginning of his signs, and he made his glory manifest, and his disciples put their faith in him." - John 2: 1-11 "So he approached him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he mounted him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him." - Luke 10: 34 "Do not drink water any longer, but take a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness." - 1 Timothy 5: 23 "Likewise, let the older women be reverent in behaviour, not slanderous, not enslaved to a lot of wine, teachers of what is good." - Titus 2: 3 "The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, not a drunkard, not violent, but reasonable, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money." - 1 Timothy 3: 2, 3 "Ministerial servants should likewise be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in a lot of wine, not greedy of dishonest gain." - 1 Timothy 3: 8 "Wine is a ridiculer, alcohol is unruly; whoever goes astray by them is not wise." - Proverbs 20: 1 "Prostitution and wine and new wine take away the motivation to do what is right." - Hosea 4: 11 "Now the works of the flesh are plainly seen, and they are sexual immorality, uncleanness, brazen conduct, idolatry, spiritism, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, dissensions, divisions, sects, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and things like these. I am forewarning you about these things, the same way I already warned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God's Kingdom."- Galatians 5: 19-21 "They grope in darkness, where there is no light; he makes them wander about like drunken men." - Job 12: 25 "They reel and stagger like a drunken man, and all their skill proves useless." - Psalm 107: 27 "But pay attention to yourselves that your hearts never become weighed down with overeating and heavy drinking and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day be instantly upon you as a snare. For it will come upon all those dwelling on the face of the whole earth." - Luke 21: 34, 35 "It is best not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything over which your brother stumbles." - Romans 14: 21 "When you come together in one place, it is not really to eat the Lord's Evening Meal. For when you eat it, each one takes his own evening meal beforehand, so that one is hungry but another is intoxicated. Do you not have houses for eating and drinking? Or do you despise the congregation of God and make those who have nothing feel ashamed? What can I say to you? Should I commend you? In this I do not commend you. For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night on which he was going to be betrayed took a loaf, and after giving thanks, he broke it and said: 'This means my body, which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.' He did the same with the cup also, after they had the evening meal, saying: 'This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, whenever you drink it, in rememberance of me.' For whenever you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes. ....Consequently, my brothers, when you come together to eat it, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that when you come together it is not for judgement." - 1 Corinthians 11: 20-26, 33, 34 And so, if you read all of those, we learn a number of things. The forefathers drank wine, Jesus drank and served wine, and the Apostles and early Christians drank wine ...but in all cases over drinking was spoken of badly by the Bible while moderation was even a joyous thing. And it mentions use as a medicine. The only mention of drunkedness being nonchalantly mentioned was by the director of the feast at the wedding, whose observation on normal life of that place and time do not qualify as a command, especially in light of all the warnings against drunkedness. And seeing as Jesus told his disciples to drink wine as part of the Lord's Evening meal which was to replace the Passover meal (had on the same night), it is certainly not evil in moderation. However, as Romans 14: 21 brings out, if it would stumble your brother, it may be best not to drink it. For example, my brother-in-law was a drunk. He now abstains from it entirely because he doesn't trust himself with any at all. So when I am around him, I do not drink either so as not to tempt him.
Your positivity, modesty, discretion, can-do attitude and personal faith sharing is soooo inspiring, Miss Megan. I am soooo happy you popped up in my feed today. Such a soothing, smile-inducing balm you are to my internet bruised soul. Jesus most certainly had a special plan for you, my dear. Many blessings to you and your family.
Thank you for taking the time in sharing your lifestyle. Interesting. I share in your desire to follow Jesus Christ, uphold modesty, family values, healthy eating, hard work, minimalism, and finding joy in our journey.
Regarding the 4-part harmony...I really appreciate that. A pastor's wife (who worked in public schools as a music teacher) shared her opinion with me years ago on the idea of learning to sing well together vs. a trend to be a soloist. She felt too many only want to take singing lessons to become stars, never learning to sing well with others. She felt that trend a sad fact of our times, all about self and less about working well with others.
I like how you said you are a Christian first and a Mennonite second. We should never put anything, even our lifestyle, above Christ. Whether that life style to the world is considered conservative or not... God comes first.
I heard someone addressing this issue. they were actually chastising a group of people, and they said, "You were too busy putting culture, over kingdom." I was like wow, perfectly said. Sounds like this lady has her priorities straight, she puts kingdom over culture. 👍
"Christian" is very vague. Some people believe Christ is God, other believe Christ is God's son. The core of the entire religion, the reason for worship is completely different.
@Laura White demonization really isn't important. What is important is that they recognize Jesus is the the way the truth the life and recognize the gifts of the spirit and that God the Father God the Son AND the Holy spirit are one. The pastor speaks the truth and encourages you to read your Bible for yourself. The Holy Spirit will tell you if youre in the wrong place and not where He wants you to be. If you seek God to know Him personally the Holy spirit will guide you and walk you through.
This was so interesting! I knew zero about Menonites before this, so I learned a lot. Though I’m not a Mennonite, I can see we actually have a lot in common between our love for Jesus and the Bible, beliefs, work ethic, desire to be a good witness, etc. I first found you from your great video on 7 Habits of Highly Effective Housewives. I’m loving your UA-cam channel! I just subscribed, so I don’t miss any new videos. God bless you abundantly!
I’m not Christian and even though that Maybe true, I admire you and your lifestyle and religious beliefs. Thank you for being so open. May god bless you and your family.
d7j6f1001 Rae I am just curious why you felt the need to put a video link of a video depicting another person’s sin (within Megan’s same religion). Megan’s channel is quite interesting to watch of her sharing her heart and specifics of her faith. I am not Mennonite, so she is teaching me quite a bit. The people doing drug smuggling in the video you posted were in the wrong 100% and were sinning. I am pretty sure Megan had nothing to do with it and your post suggests that this is commonplace within the Mennonite community. This is an isolated incident and not common for people of this faith to do this. There are people of all religions who are what I call “bad people”. The choices made by a few “bad people” does not then make the whole religion “bad”. Look at what has been exposed to the world from the catholic church. It is horrible and evil to harm a child. That does not now mean that all catholic priests are bad and that the religion is any less important to those who hold it dear to their hearts. Yes, the few that are the evil sinners do make the whole religion look like it needs some work on it’s leadership, but all in all, the core of the faith is Jesus Christ and salvation by excepting Jesus as the Lord of our lives. Those who harms others and broke the law should be punished and punished harshly for their actions. However, you posting a video of Mennonite people sinning is somewhat of a poke to Megan that Mennonites are not who they say they are. I am not Mennonite, but I admire Megan for sharing the assumptions about her faith and sharing her heart on her personal life decisions and beliefs. I have a lot of respect for her and her faith. When I saw the video you posted, I saw it as both rude and a poke at Megan’s faith. My point is that there are evil people who make horrible decisions within all religions and those who have no religion. The illegal smuggling is sin and the Bible talks about that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The best part of this story is that Jesus died on the cross so that all of us sinners can ask forgiveness from God and be forgiven. Even the Mennonites who did drug smuggling. It is our jobs, as believers in Christ, to turn away from sin and follow Christ so that we may spend eternity in heaven once we pass away. Megan, you are doing a great job with your channel. I recently found you and subscribed. Thank you for educating us on your faith. I have learned a lot.
As a follower of Jesus Christ for more than 40 years I think you nailed the question on Grace vs. works. I also applaud your honesty about the use of birth control and being 100% profile.
I love your answer about a capella singing In our congregation church of Christ we don't use instruments either and yes its so beautiful 4 part singing!!!
Very interesting, thank you for sharing! I am not Mennonite but as a faithful Christian there wasn't one thing that you mentioned so far as part of your faith that went against what I have been taught as part of my faith. There are many similarities, from the acapella singing in our congregation, to many of our understandings of the scriptures. I look forward to learning more.
This was a great and informative. I grew up in a small town in Illinois and we had a Amish community and a Mennonite community. I sometimes get asked questions and My standard answer is they are normal people just like everyone else. I grew up in the Church of Christ and our church services were sung acapello and lessons were straight from the Bible. No literature or anything and we were taught to dress modestly. We were taught salvation is through Jesus Christ that is the only way to heaven. And to help our fellow man. Love your channel and your family. Have a blessed day.
Lea G., yes you were taught the correct and only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I Love acapella music, some acapella you can't tell there isn't instruments involved. I am a saved Christian.
As a Catholic, I have gotten the “we are saved by grace not works”. But as a Catholic, I believe in the joy of giving back. I don’t think God just wants us to sit around and do nothing. Paying it forward is important. Love your channel!
the bible does not say you get into heaven by Good works, it's building and having a relationship with Jesus Christ is what gets you into heaven, you leave your old sinful life to start a brand new one with Jesus, by not living the life in the world that you lived before
Also a Catholic here. I don't understand these different protestant concepts and rules of etiquette. As far as I can see, if you are living a Christian life, you will naturally be doing good works and His Divine Mercy assures us of good things to come. No questions asked.
As a former Catholic, may I suggest studying the bible with a clear mind, removing anything that you have been taught. I'm not picking on Catholics by this suggestion. Many denominations are way off scripture.
@@marysmith7792 may I suggest to you to clear your mind of any teaching and study the bible for yourself? My eyes have been opened as I heard this suggestion a year ago. I'm a former Catholic and I've been to Baptist, assembly of God, non denominational etc. I'm on here researching the Mennonite beliefs. After hearing this young lady, I'm definitely interested, if they observe the Sabbath.
I am A Bible believing Christian that has a daughter around your age and I just wanted to tell you that I think you did a beautiful job of answering those questions and assumptions. You truly did a fabulous job of explaining the answers straight from the Bible and did so in a very loving way. I bet your mom is very proud, I would be. Kudos to your parents for a job well done. God bless you.
Hi sandra i saw your comment and i am 59. I have really enjoyed watching and learning from Megan and like you said i wish more young women were like her.
I could listen to you talk all day! You remind me of my grandmother (personality wise), she was a conservative catholic and was beyond gentle, kind, humble and forgiving. You seem like that too!
Good job kiddo, I was a Chicago city slicker who married a Yoder 40yr ago. Needless to say I had a steep learning curve and from my observation your answers were point on. Keep the faith, God will bless.
Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly. I have friends who came from Lancaster County so they had filled me in on a lot of what you shared, especially the differences between Mennonites and Amish. I actually grew up Church of the Brethren, which was an offshoot of the Quakers. As with Mennonites, many of our beliefs and behaviors were based on the local church we attended. The one thing I remember most was the simplicity of the singing (occasionally accompanied by organ, but often acapella) and how they taught me about Jesus and how He loved me enough to take my place and die for me. I know my faith developed when I was a little girl and my grandma made sure I went to church every week. One thing about your video that brought me great joy is how closely you stick to the Lord Jesus by staying in God's Holy Scriptures! You even admonished people to read their Bible. This is honestly the best advice. Keep your eyes on the Lord for He told us that he who endures to the end shall be saved.
I live in central PA...heart of Amish and Mennonite community. My husbands entire family both sides are old order Mennonite, as was my grandmother. Believe me when I say they are not pure and wholesome. Although many are wonderful, many are terribly flawed. I live near a a hospital for mentally ill, and the Amish community has built its own wing onto it. The abuses that go on are horrendous. I know many ex Amish girls who were severely sexually abused by family. Because they are Amish they do not get the law involved and the girls are helpless. The Mennonite community is very focused on money and greed. Again, we have huge family and community...it is unfortunately true. Like I said, it is certainly not all, but pure and wholesome is a myth.
Janell Martin Yeah, as someone, who was raised Roman Catholic, I can sympathize. Religion often brings out the good in people, but it can also be used to oppress and victimize. Rule of thumb: if you’re not allowed to ‚peak behind the curtains‘ or utter valid criticism (without being shamed or ridiculed)...walk away.
I am so sad to hear these things but also recognize that no matter your denomination or life choice, people are people in every group. Some people chose to live in sin and use religion as scape goat or place to hide and pretend. I suppose what I meant to begin with is that I like the wholesome ideas of Mennonite and Amish families. There is a wholesome idea in it all.
@@bethanyhall1524 I do understand what you mean. Mennonites and Amish are like us all, sinners in need of a Savior. Most rely on works and only hope that because they drive a black car or buggy, or wear a covering and clothes, that they might make it into heaven. My in laws saw their need of salvation when they were teens. They both started to read the Bible (which was frowned upon) and they both excepted Christ. They stayed Mennonite until my husband was 4. One of my husband's uncles is a Bishop in the church. Sadly most of the family are not saved. We love them and pray for them. It is very sad to see the trap these people are in. It is actually very much like a cult...especially the Amish. If you leave, you are excommunicated. Mennonites are more excepting and still include us in the family. I wish I could explain it all more clearly. Blessings!
Very cynical atheist here. But this was recommended ...so here I am listening to Megan Fox talking about her religion .... And I didn’t click out. Interesting!
I loved this, I've lived in PA all my life and have always found an interest in the Amish and Mennonite way of life. Loved and will watch for more. Thank you.
So beautifully done, Megan! Although I am not Mennonite, I can relate to a lot of these assumptions as an Apostolic Pentecostal. I think you did an amazing job answering these assumptions, and showing that the more “radical” Christian life is not weird, but just a genuine love for Jesus, and wanting to please Him. ❤️ Congrats on not only 10k, but 11k!! That’s great! 🎉
I just got recommended your channel, and wow. I am a Christian, and I really had no idea about Mennonites. Thank you for your channel. You are so beautiful, and calmimg. Like a mother.
Really enjoyed this video! As a Kleine Gemeinde (Russian Mennonite) believer, I would have answered most of the questions/assumptions exactly like you did! Found that fact quite interesting! I loved how you made it clear that the spectrum is wide! I so often get the assumption that our German-background Mennonites are all the same and I feel like people have such a hard time understanding that! Great job! Also about the faith and works theme, I love how my dad put it the other day. Before salvation, we believe in complete grace alone. But after (and you said this too), our faith is shown by our works! Love from Alberta Yesenia
@@MeganFoxUnlocked Yes, it seems we are very similar. Growing up, I used CLE curriculum (homeschool) and its fun for me to watch some real, live Mennonites instead of just reading about them in my school books! Love your channel!
We have been recently going to a Mennonite Church in WV. And I love it! Everyone is so nice and friendly and the preaching is very biblical! Love from a small channel💕
I just happened to come across your channel. I am a Christian. I am not of Mennonite persuasion, but I was thanking the Lord while I was listening to you. May Elohim bring many to salvation in Christ Jesus through your sharing your life on this platform.
John 6:28 ¶ Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Hello, I'm not sure how I came across your channel but I absolutely adore you! Thank you for sharing yourself and your culture. You did amazing with the questions znd assumptions. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
It seems like the comments are pretty tame (or at least not hateful) and I hope they stay that way! This was in my recommended video and I appreciate the information. Thank you!
Very interesting video! As a fellow Mennonite I agree you were very brave to tackle all those assumptions 😄 thanks for doing that! I also wanted to point out that in my experience growing up Amish we were taught biblical teaching about the new birth and knowing you are saved through Jesus Christ. There are many Amish who do understand the Bible but sadly like you mentioned there are many who do not believe you can know if you are saved.
I have been fascinated by the Mennonite and Amish since I was a child. I love it that you're addressing the assumptions whether they're correct or not. I learned alot.
Thank you for sharing. You described salvation very well. Believe it or not, it sounds the same as what Catholics believe. Also thank you for saying you are 100% pro life. Your life shows it!
You’re beautiful without make-up and completely adorable. I’m apostolic and we don’t wear make up or cut our hair either. Yes works and faith go together, I loved your response to that question. ❤️
I don't know if we have Mennonites in Wales (where I'm from) or England but I love love love everything you have said. I am increasingly Mennonite in my outlook. Thank you so much for your honesty. Jesus shines through you.
I attended a Mennonite church a few years ago and found them welcoming and the most nonjudgemental people and they truly helped me through. I was going through a difficult patch in my life. I knew a little about the Mennonites and Amish from reading and working around Mennonites. I wanted to join but my husband wasn't comfortable with it so I didn't. I still feel close to the church and am grateful for the fellowship and friendships i made. I try to adhere to the church as much as possible such as dress conservatively and follow the Bible as best I can. I think I'm Mennonite at heart but just can't be on the outside. Thank you for the interesting video! God bless! I actually could have joined that church or wear the covering if I choose. I simply decided for the time being not to until there is a better time for it. It's all good though as it's all in His timing. Im okay with that. 😊❤
Holy Lord, I come on behalf of my sister Christina's behalf. Lord, you do not use labels and denominations like people do. Of you are willing, please help her husband to be comfortable and willing to allow Christina to live a life of Mennonite culture how she desires to, even if her husband wishes not to participate but they still are one team loving of each other. I praise your holy name on high, Jesus. Amen.
@@MsSarah999 What it is she is following the few Bible verses about wives submitting to husbands and men being head of the house. Not to say she is without a voice, but the guy having the last say, even if what the guy decides is not godly or the wife is considered rebellious.
@@MsSarah999 Have you even read the Bible? It is a choice to live by it. We bloom where we are planted. Are you a Christian? I also know that you can't always just leave a situation. There are no Biblical reasons to leave other than infidelity or if Im being abused. I do make my own choices. I choose how to think, to be a helpmate to my husband, respect my family, accept the Biblical headship order. Its not being submissive or oppressive rather his equal. Eve was made from Adam's rib. She was not over him nor under him. However there is a certain order to things according to the Bible. I have an important role as a wife and mother. Being a Christian wife does not mean I can't think for myself nor is it oppressive to any woman. Sadly our society is teaching women that the headship order of the Bible is terrible for women. In fact it is the opposite. I am not oppressed in the least. If you view it that way I'm sorry for you that you have been mislead. The Bible tells us yes wives be submissive to our own husbands but it also tells husbands to love their wives as they love themselves. My problem was going into marriage unequally yoked. I have learned to live with this and reached a more mature level in my Christian walk. Some of my family haven't. But I lead with my example. Bloom where I've been planted. Once I let God take charge and drew closer to Him it's been so much better. It isn't easy but it is in no way oppressive. I do think for myself. Maybe you need to examine your own walk. Being a wife and mother can be challenging but it is in no way putting me down or holding me up. It is enriching and a joy...even with the challenges. I do think for myself. God bless!
@@holyexperience1976 Yeah I know. Religion doesn't give women rights. Too bad for that lady... Imagine not being able to decide what church to go to? That sucks.
I just found this channel. I am currently in the process of converting to catholicism but i LOVE this video and have always wanted to know more about mennonites! you should do a collab with a person of a different faith and make a series about that. I would LOVE that.
Hi Lisa, if you don't mind me asking...what has made you convert to Catholicism? Did you practice another religion before? I'm not asking to judge, simply a genuine question to understand why the change. Respectfully, Jen
Meghan, I so enjoyed your instruction on your dress patterns and sewing, also, your video of explaining your faith. I am interested in understanding your head covering. I have started wearing a veil to church out of respect and love of Father God, Lord JESUS and Holy Spirit. Trying to change my why of dress, longer skirts, modest dress. My belief is Roman Catholic. I get stares and jokes about it. JESUS bless you and your Husband and children. Thank you.
As an Apostolic Pentecostal, I believe you hit the nail on the head with the "faith without works is dead" explaination. The book of James does exist, people! 😊 Edit: the reason why I love the faith without works is dead scripture: It is God's grace and love that prompts us to good works 🤍 what use is that faith without actually living it out. Faith in God comes with a level of responsibility and action, which is usually out of a grateful and fruitful heart for that salvation and grace bestowed on us. ❤ and God is so gracious 🙏🏼
What bible do you read James is in the new testiment matthew mark luke John acts romans 1&2 corinthians ephisans phillipians 1&2 thessolonians colossians timothy titus philemans hebrews James 1,2,3 John jude revelations . My bible is a KING JAMES VERSION
Yup, but it doesn't change the fact Salvation is free. Salvation is free, the growth in Christ is not. The dead faith is when you stop growing and there no good fruits in your life anymore.
I love how open you are! I find it very interesting to explore other cultures and religions, especially from people who actually have first hand experiences with them. Thanks for deciding to share your beliefs and viewpoints with us!!
I loved this video I am a Mennonite girl too I grew up in northern Alberta Canada and my family is very similar to everything you mentioned 💕 I ventured out of my family and married an English man and we attend a full gospel Mennonite church and it seems so different from what my family and relatives live through we still live modestly and what we feel God would want us to do 💕
Thank you for your video. I am always curious about different cultures, lifestyles and religions. I hope that the more I know, the less judgmental I will be, and the more understanding I am of EVERYONE. I like being able to correct misconceptions I hear and direct those people to places where they can find more information, (I don’t instruct, but say stuff like “I think Mennonites ... you should check out....”). Glad I came across your channel, and look forward to checking out more of your channel. Would love for you to continue with the Q & A, maybe once a month or something.... helps us curious ones to understand more.

This side of UA-cam but I love learning about different religions because it’s just nice to be open.
I love it too. So interesting learning about other cultures.
I also have no idea how this channel got into my feed, but I really enjoyed listening to you and learning about Mennonits. I grew up in and still attend an a capella church and love how beautiful it can be too. Thanks for sharing. I'm subscribing to your channel.

Mennonites are Christians, so yes, more alike than different. :D
@BibleStudy888YT I see what you mean. I grew up in a Mennonite school and faith and following Christ was the center of our education. :)
That one Girl just because it’s not your experience doesn’t mean it isn’t true - you can’t blanket statement like that.

"Go, eat your food with rejoicing, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for already the true God has found pleasure in your works." - Ecclesiastes 9: 7
"And on the third day a marriage feast took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage feast.
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him: 'They have no wine.' But Jesus said to her: 'Woman, why is that of concern to me and to you? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to those serving: 'Do whatever he tells you.'
Now there were six stone water jars sitting there as required by the purification rules of the Jews, each able to hold two or three liquid measures.
You have saved the fine wine until now.'
Jesus did this in Cana of Galilee as the beginning of his signs, and he made his glory manifest, and his disciples put their faith in him."

"They grope in darkness, where there is no light; he makes them wander about like drunken men." - Job 12: 25
"They reel and stagger like a drunken man, and all their skill proves useless." - Psalm 107: 27
"But pay attention to yourselves that your hearts never become weighed down with overeating and heavy drinking and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day be instantly upon you as a snare. For it will come upon all those dwelling on the face of the whole earth." - Luke 21: 34, 35
"It is best not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything over which your brother stumbles." - Romans 14: 21
"When you come together in one place, it is not really to eat the Lord's Evening Meal.
If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that when you come together it is not for judgement."
- 1 Corinthians 11: 20-26, 33, 34
And so, if you read all of those, we learn a number of things.

Yes! I miss the 4part harmony singing that used to be so common. I grew up with 13 siblings and I miss the singing we used to do together
🙄
"Christian" is very vague. Some people believe Christ is God, other believe Christ is God's son. The core of the entire religion, the reason for worship is completely different.
their conservative lifestyle will pay off on judgement day
@Laura White demonization really isn't important.

God bless you abundantly!

d7j6f1001 Rae I am just curious why you felt the need to put a video link of a video depicting another person’s sin (within Megan’s same religion).
One of the hardest lesson life gives us, is to speak your truth. You did this so well. I was deeply touched.
The truth. There is no such thing as your truth. It's either true or false regardless of if you believe it.
You are so mature and giving for a 26 year old girl. Such a breath of fresh air! I really liked this video. Thank you.
Well done! You make living your faith appear very attractive . This is the best kind of witness!
I definitely think we need a part 2! So very interesting. :)
Thank you for sharing, I am a non Mennonite Christian and I wholeheartedly agree with most you said 💕
As a follower of Jesus Christ for more than 40 years I think you nailed the question on Grace vs.
Lea Guiles,
Was it Arthur, IL by chance?
Yes maam
Lea G., yes you were taught the correct and only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I Love acapella music, some acapella you can't tell there isn't instruments involved. I am a saved Christian.
Church of Christ here too... Blessings!
Lea Guiles hey I grew up there there!!!
As a Catholic, I have gotten the “we are saved by grace not works”. But as a Catholic, I believe in the joy of giving back. I don’t think God just wants us to sit around and do nothing. Paying it forward is important. Love your channel!
the bible does not say you get into heaven by Good works, it's building and having a relationship with Jesus Christ is what gets you into heaven, you leave your old sinful life to start a brand new one with Jesus, by not living the life in the world that you lived before
@@marielagregory1217 Ephesians 2:10
You are a beautiful soul; keep it up. I am a 56 year old Southern Baptist. I adore your channel and wish there were more young women like you.
Perfect explanation about salvation through Christ alone, but good works as fruit of that gift of grace.
Yes, well said✨ Learning more about God and Jesus has been great inspiration for me to live more generously.
Good job kiddo, I was a Chicago city slicker who married a Yoder 40yr ago. Needless to say I had a steep learning curve and from my observation your answers were point on. Keep the faith, God will bless.
Hello. I'm agnostic *and* so appreciative for the time, information you and your openness to share about your life with us. Thank you!
I’m an atheist but I find different religions very interesting. I enjoyed hearing your answers about being a menonite.
I find other religions so fascinating!
I loved this! I have always been so intrigued by Mennonite and Amish culture. There is such a wholesome way about both that I love.
Bethany Hall me too

Yeah, as someone, who was raised Roman Catholic, I can sympathize.
Blessings!
Well done, Megan...very diplomatic, gracious and humble answers. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and your faith with us
Very cynical atheist here. But this was recommended ...so here I am listening to Megan Fox talking about her religion .... And I didn’t click out. Interesting!
I loved this, I've lived in PA all my life and have always found an interest in the Amish and Mennonite way of life. Loved and will watch for more. Thank you.
This is quite refreshing. Thank you for being so candid. I see MANY parallels to my Christian faith. Faith without works is dead :)
JurneesMom Mennonites are Christians...
I just found this channel and I think THIS Megan Fox is way better lol
I enjoyed your honest answers, and obvious love of Jesus.
Keep being a light! Great job. :)
Congrats on not only 10k, but 11k!! That’s great! 🎉
And keep it up over there on your channel!
Agree!
You explained the faith/works thing well..I'm not mennonite but am christian and i that was well said :)
I love this video! Thank you for being open, honest, and unashamed of our Savior. Love your channel and the light you shine here!
I just got recommended your channel, and wow. I am a Christian, and I really had no idea about Mennonites. Thank you for your channel. You are so beautiful, and calmimg. Like a mother.
Keep on the good work for our Lord Jesus Christ
Really enjoyed this video! As a Kleine Gemeinde (Russian Mennonite) believer, I would have answered most of the questions/assumptions exactly like you did! Found that fact quite interesting! I loved how you made it clear that the spectrum is wide! I so often get the assumption that our German-background Mennonites are all the same and I feel like people have such a hard time understanding that! Great job! Also about the faith and works theme, I love how my dad put it the other day. Before salvation, we believe in complete grace alone. But after (and you said this too), our faith is shown by our works!
Love from Alberta

Nice to meet you! I always wondered how our beliefs align! Sounds like we are very similar!
Beautiful name by the way!
That's awesome! Glad you like it!
I just happened to come across your channel. I am a Christian. I am not of Mennonite persuasion, but I was thanking the Lord while I was listening to you. May Elohim bring many to salvation in Christ Jesus through your sharing your life on this platform.
I'm a doctor of theology and you answered that question about work very well.
John 6:28 ¶ Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Thank you so much Megan. I loved watching this and as a Christian, I am inspired by the Mennonites. Blessings
You are such a wonderful witness for Christ!
I am so glad God let me find your channel! You handled the questions wonderfully ! God bless you all!
Thank you!
I got here from your sewing videos, but I enjoy learning about others beliefs, traditions and religion. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
I like how you explained faith and good works and how if you have faith good works follow. Thank you for that.
I have been fascinated by the Mennonite and Amish since I was a child. I love it that you're addressing the assumptions whether they're correct or not. I learned alot.
You seem so sweet & godly, Jesus shines through you! Blessings to you from a sister in Christ
I just love this. I was raised Mormon, and your way of life seems very similar. I love that you’re sharing your perspective, thank you!
Thanks! just find about it
Thank you for sharing. You described salvation very well. Believe it or not, it sounds the same as what Catholics believe. Also thank you for saying you are 100% pro life. Your life shows it!
Love your explanation of salvation. Agrees with what I as a Missouri Synod Lutheran type Christian believe. Thanks for sharing.
You’re beautiful without make-up and completely adorable. I’m apostolic and we don’t wear make up or cut our hair either. Yes works and faith go together, I loved your response to that question. ❤️
This was really helpful because I have to write a essay comparing different religions that believe in Jesus
Megan these questions/assumptions were beautifully and gracefully answered, thank you for filming this video.
I don't know if we have Mennonites in Wales (where I'm from) or England but I love love love everything you have said. I am increasingly Mennonite in my outlook. Thank you so much for your honesty. Jesus shines through you.
Sadly the last Mennonite church in the UK closed a few years ago due to so few attendees... I believe they still do an online meeting
Amen.
Too bad you aren't in a relationship that allows you to make decisions for yourself.
@@MsSarah999
What it is she is following the few Bible verses about wives submitting to husbands and men being head of the house.
Respectfully,
Jen
Meghan, I so enjoyed your instruction on your dress patterns and sewing, also, your video of explaining your faith. I am interested in understanding your head covering. I have started wearing a veil to church out of respect and love of Father God, Lord JESUS and Holy Spirit. Trying to change my why of dress, longer skirts, modest dress. My belief is Roman Catholic. I get stares and jokes about it. JESUS bless you and your Husband and children. Thank you.
I'm not a Mennonite, but what you said about faith vs. works was spot on and perfectly said!
I agree very well said
As an Apostolic Pentecostal, I believe you hit the nail on the head with the "faith without works is dead" explaination. The book of James does exist, people! 😊
Edit: the reason why I love the faith without works is dead scripture: It is God's grace and love that prompts us to good works 🤍 what use is that faith without actually living it out. Faith in God comes with a level of responsibility and action, which is usually out of a grateful and fruitful heart for that salvation and grace bestowed on us. ❤ and God is so gracious 🙏🏼

Salvation is free, the growth in Christ is not.

Hello from Cape Town South Africa. Well done on how you responded to what you felt were awkward "assumptions".
Really really impressed xx
Please make this a mini series! This was so informative
Great answers, especially when you were speaking on faith and religion assumptions. I appreciate all the things that Christians have in common.
Thank you for your video. I am always curious about different cultures, lifestyles and religions. I hope that the more I know, the less judgmental I will be, and the more understanding I am of EVERYONE.
