All the guys in Lamb of God always come off as just the nicest, politest, and well-spoken guys. I briefly met Mark and Chris at the airport once, and they were the most down-to-earth dudes. Makes me love their music even more. Respect!
I love when I see an interview of someone for the first time who I am a fan of, and they turn out to be even cooler than I had imagined. Mark has been an inspiration to me as a guitarist and I really enjoyed listening to him talk passionately about his equipment
These dudes are the chillest metal heads I see in most cases. Been a LOG fan for years but since getting past intermediate playing and learning their songs. I have so much respect for their style, heaviness, and humbleness all around. Really motivates me to keep playing!!
You got any tips on how to do that? I believe I'm close to being able to play more intermediate stuff but it's inconsistency that's killing me. Some days I can really cook and other days I feel like I can barely play again. It's frustrating.
@@drewjohnson4794 For me it was looking into economy picking and repeating the patterns of their songs. The way Laid To Rest main riff goes, 11th Hour, and Descending. I would say (this is what works for me) is to warm your fingers up by playing a pentatonic pattern on 1 string same frets over and over to get the speed and repetition down (use all 4 fingers too). And also just a big rhythm method for their play style. They really work off of very blues/jazzy styles for the beats you play to. Also learning some Megadeth/Pantera riffs easy ones too helps get your hands and brain connected. Final advice is once you got the notes down, start playing along to the songs till you hear a match in sound. It sucks but it's possible.
WHO USED A MAXON OD? CAUSE I DIDNT SEE ONE IN WHOLE VIDEO? ALL I SAW OD WISE WAS A MXR GT-OD WHICH IS A GREAT GREAT OD PEDAL, IF IT WASENT FOR THE KHDK GOUL SCREAMER I WOULD STILL HAVE ONE, THE GOUL SCREAMER IS A GT-OD ON STEROIDS WITH ALL THE SWITCHES
I'm not a fan of Mark Morton's guitar shape but i believe that's what a signature guitar should look like. Something unique and recognisable right away. That cream one was really beautiful. I also like how he uses Duncans and Dimarzios. Those guitars look like they fit anywhere from blues to metal. Damn, now i wanna buy one! 🙂
Marks sig is amazing, he created a new 50s/60s guitar design. If you showed it to me aged I would say “wow I thought I knew all of fenders vintage models” because it looks so original yet amazing
I KNOW I DIDNT GET TO THE END YET, I WANTED TO CHECK THE COMMENTS TO SEE IF ANYONE KNEW WHAT THE DEAL WITH THAT WAS OR TO SEE IF ANY MENTIONED THEM MENTIONING IT, I HOPE THEY TALK ABOUT IT CAUSE THE CURIOSITY FACTOR IS DRIVING ME CRAZY
I love Premier Guitar! Your interviewers really KNOW the band, musicians, music, and gear. Unlikely other interviewers, yours really do their research to ask the questions that we all want answers to. Keep it up!
I'm not even a fan of LOG, and I enjoyed this video a lot. My Dad has the same old MESA/Boogie MKII head that he had built for him by them back in the day, around 1979-1980, and I'd be taking phone calls from the company for him so he could get on the phone with them and say "OK, I need this, this, and this," to them. How awesome is that??
Brilliant video, from a Metal perspective these guys are genius, I love their sound, their tone and riffage. In latter years I think they've flagged a little, but they still destroy!
Seeing the guitar variety is a good way to offer that it s not one pickup or one neck or one set of strings, wood or combination. Its the real artistry of the players together that build great music. 3 thumbs up for giving us the equipment and the players vocal expressions of why or what.
Tone is separate from frequency response. For example, if you palm mute closer to the bridge, you will get a deeper more heavy tone out of each chug. If you use a thinner pick you will get more attack as opposed to having a thicker pick which gives you a tighter sound. The actual output of your rig in terms of frequency response isn't affected very much by these factors but it is affected somewhat. Tone is in the hands, frequency response is in the amp/pickups/guitar/cable etc
i really like this series of shows.. particularly when the artists doodle on the guitar to show you how the sound changes but this is not one of those episodes
andrewt248 iso's are great for live shows as they're not affected by a venues sound. Different size rooms give different sounds, one night a set up might sound really boomy and another it might sound thin and weak. Iso cabs cut a lot of that out and gives a really consistent sound
Must be the 20th time I've watched this and ALL my favourite beasts of the wild METAL!!!!🍀 Man... Am pleased to sit here with my own great rig, and soaking up the rigs of the greats...
Those guitars look nice. Love the 2 vol 2 tone setup so you can have more control over your tone via the guitar. Passive pickups have more character than EMGS and you can def hear the difference in their music. I'm not fan of jackson but id consider buying one of these.
I have one of johns picks that I caught at a show. Has those score marks on it. Cool to know they were put there by the band and not just from the factory.
+Julian Jost All I know is that he had a lot of different models from Dean Guitars and he once designed a guitar with Balsac the Jaws of Death, with Balsac and Dimebag doing the paint job.
+Julian Jost Unfortunately, the guitar that Balsac the Jaws of Death and Dimebag Darrell did the paint job for, which was used in the music video for GWAR's "Immortal Corruptor", was stolen after a performance by Balsac's side project, the Dave Brockie Experience, in 2002, but it was recovered and given back to him by a fan in 2010. Two years after the guitar was stolen, Dimebag, who helped do the paint job on Balsac's "Immortal Corruptor" music video guitar, was shot and killed onstage during a performance with Damageplan.
check out the skatecaster from charvel (i subcompany like fender and i belive jackson used to own charvel) it's like very similar and for the price its better than the cheaper version of the morton signatur
Just a request... Can you turn the very high end on the microphone to be turned down. I've lost a good amount of hearing and it still bugs me. Thanks guys!
I like how Mark actually knows his stuff. Alot of these guys depend so heavily on their techs, and they just play. Nothing wrong with that....Mark is just interesting. He seems like the coolest guy too lol
All the guys in Lamb of God always come off as just the nicest, politest, and well-spoken guys. I briefly met Mark and Chris at the airport once, and they were the most down-to-earth dudes. Makes me love their music even more. Respect!
Neat..
I bet it was a total treat meeting them.
0:10 Mark Morton
15:12 Willie Adler
23:19 John Campbell
You're Welcome.
AnthonY TenkkU you're (hahahaha i just had to)
AnthonY TenkkU I don't really care about guitars but Campbell is hilarious so I skip ahead and watch.
AnthonY TenkkU bummer no Campbell
Virnali Nebrida-Sunga hahaha not funny...
Yeah okay keep virtue signaling
I like how the metal guys are the most polite guys especially when they're talking about their gear,
Mark Morton is such a chiller.
I really like this dudes guitar playing... and also how funny he was in the movie "THE HANGOVER"...
diceMEass
Huh?
I love when I see an interview of someone for the first time who I am a fan of, and they turn out to be even cooler than I had imagined. Mark has been an inspiration to me as a guitarist and I really enjoyed listening to him talk passionately about his equipment
Dimarzio bridge, Seymour D. neck on the first guitar. And Willie is now with Fishman pickups.
I am in no way a fan of "showy" guitars or lamb of god really, but those guitars are beautiful and I love their approach to gear and playing.
Martyn Hughes they are gods, in heavy metal
🤤
Those Jackson guitars are so sexy.

Mesa amps, Maxon O/D, Ultex picks, and unfinished necks. Hell yes!

+Remmy 315 HE SHOULD OF JUST SAID OLD SCHOOL SETUP AMP_OD_PICS
I'm not a fan of Mark Morton's guitar shape but i believe that's what a signature guitar should look like. Something unique and recognisable right away. That cream one was really beautiful. It's the shape of the Jackson Swee-tone originally.
Frederik thordendal has a really good signature too. Not too flashy, but still recognizable
Willie and John have one of the best guitar techs I've seen
Can we get a rig rundown of Randy's vocal chords please? Thanks!
Singing voice: banshee from hell.
Speaking voice: your mild mannered aunt.
Nice to see a classy and stylishly designed signature guitar from a metal guitarist.
man, Mark is so humble. Much Respect!!
The best Rig Rundown ever. Half an hour of an in depth run through of one of the absolute best modern metal band's gear.
The micro marshall amp with Mesa written on it in the background haha
This is so far the best rig rundown i've seen. Started from the very first and 100+ rig rundowns later this shows close up pictures of the rack setup.
Marks sig is amazing, he created a new 50s/60s guitar design. If you showed it to me aged I would say “wow I thought I knew all of fenders vintage models” because it looks so original yet amazing
I hope PG does another RR with Lamb of God!
really down to earth guys, super smart gear setups
lol the micro marshall with the mesa on it
Lol I saw that
I KNOW I DIDNT GET TO THE END YET, I WANTED TO CHECK THE COMMENTS TO SEE IF ANYONE KNEW WHAT THE DEAL WITH THAT WAS OR TO SEE IF ANY MENTIONED THEM MENTIONING IT, I HOPE THEY TALK ABOUT IT CAUSE THE CURIOSITY FACTOR IS DRIVING ME CRAZY
Mesa endorses LoG. They wouldn't want Marshall product placement in the LoG rig rundown.
weedshoes or the tech joking wrote it on there...
While these interviews are interesting, most of the artists just sound so profoundly BORED. Nice to see an exception to this
yeah thats something ive noticed about mark, he actually enjoys talking about guitars as apposed to the regular, repetitive band bullshit
its also nice when the interviewer knows and cares about what he/she is talking about
^ yea, he and herman li get really into their guitars
I think many just don't understand their own gear enough to converse well about it.
mitchell2719 Malmsteen also seems interested in his gear. Gear nut. Loved working on his signature pickups he did. Yoda speak. Yes
I love Premier Guitar! Your interviewers really KNOW the band, musicians, music, and gear. Unlikely other interviewers, yours really do their research to ask the questions that we all want answers to. Keep it up!

i caught one of those hand scored picks at a log concert that i went to recently!
Seeing the guitar variety is a good way to offer that it s not one pickup or one neck or one set of strings, wood or combination. Its the real artistry of the players together that build great music. 3 thumbs up for giving us the equipment and the players vocal expressions of why or what.
0:56 I love that they taped the Marshall logo on that MS-2 micro amp, and they wrote MESA xD Great Rundown

love the fact you see the guitarist for a change
i really like this series of shows.. particularly when the artists doodle on the guitar to show you how the sound changes but this is not one of those episodes
Wow. A lot of bands are using iso-cabs for FOH. Pretty cool.
andrewt248 iso's are great for live shows as they're not affected by a venues sound. Different size rooms give different sounds, one night a set up might sound really boomy and another it might sound thin and weak. Iso cabs cut a lot of that out and gives a really consistent sound
What I was curious about is if John typically plays through both pickups.
I also have a mark 5 and love it. I'm in a cover band that plays a little bit of everything and this amp does it all.
That cream colored Dominion looks awweesome
*cream-colored
Cream didn't pick up a brush and colored Dominions xD
That is a beautiful guitar!
hahaha. just saw Deftones' rundown and now this one: it's like night & day...love both bands \m/
What was Deftones rundown like? Don't they use axe-fx digital stuff now instead of real amps?
I just can't get into that body shape. Reminds me of Gumby.
TruthSurge he was once a little green glob of clay....
Now that’s all I see
Its one of the ugliest guitars ive ever seen!! Lol
I bet it plays awesome though. Reminds me a little of my Schecter tempest C1, which I love.
I love it lol!!!
I just tried his settings on my Mark IV and it's really bright.
I like their tone on the albums.
Must be the 20th time I've watched this and ALL my favourite beasts of the wild METAL!!!!🍀
Man... Am pleased to sit here with my own great rig, and soaking up the rigs of the greats...
this is what a good rig review supposed to be. not just "it sounds good" but a detailed approach to the tone.
love the spalted maple top
Those guitars look nice. Love the 2 vol 2 tone setup so you can have more control over your tone via the guitar.
Passive pickups have more character than EMGS and you can def hear the difference in their music. I'm not fan of jackson but id consider buying one of these.
EMG's have a different character than passives for sure. I use and like both in the guitars they are in.
I always enjoy hearing guitarist use different words to describe different aspects of the tones.
I like the way Mark Marton very subtly corrects the interviewer's mispronunciation "DizMarzio".
awesome work Guitar Premier!!! luv&respect!!!
These guys have really great taste in gear. The Mark IV is a great amp & Trans Atlantic are great amps.
Yeah wow that spalted maple with the MOP inlays + gold hardware. Thats super nice
This Chris keys guy is kick ass!..great rig run down
Thank you So Much for this interview and posting this! log!!!
21:16 I thought Brian Griffin was from Quahog, not Chicago!!!!!!!!
the happiest I've ever seen Mark in a interview haha.
Thanks Premier- this is the most interesting stuff!
I have one of johns picks that I caught at a show. Has those score marks on it. Cool to know they were put there by the band and not just from the factory.
what a great rig down!! one of the best in this channel ....
I've been waiting for this for a very long time.
Ok I gotta say that I LOVE that they taped over the Marshall logo and wrote MESA on the little half stack on the bench lol.
love the NT dominion with the gold hardware! just stunning
Love the guitars and the In flames beanie ! :D
As i lay dying rig rundown. Please,do it.
Really enjoyed this clip... nice people...
Man, they are really cool and nice guys. I really liked this run down.
0:18 he didn't care how the interviewer was doing 😂😂
Made in USA by Canadian..how do ya like that?
great rig run down!
Shot on 12/4/12. You probably heard the Mark IV mixes.
He's referring to the bridge pickup. It has alan head pole pieces, which means it's a DiMarzio.
I fucking love this channel's rig rundowns.
Yes please! I already know most of his rig, but it would still be an entertaining video
would it be easier for you guys to use clip on mics?? 😀
Morton is a sweetheart, what a cool dude
i love the MESA sticker over the mini Marshall amp on the tech bench XD
Those Jacksons are beautiful!
I love the camo on Willie's guitars and I love the shape of Mark's dominions
i caught one of those scored picks at a show, i didnt even realize it was hand scored till i watched this haha, thats rad!
is that parachutist badge on john campbell's strap?
Please do a Between the Buried and Me rig rundowns... Dustie, Paul and Dan :)
26:32 Did Dimebag Darrell have scratch marks on his guitar picks?
yes dimebag scratched his picks so he would have more grip
+Julian Jost All I know is that he had a lot of different models from Dean Guitars and he once designed a guitar with Balsac the Jaws of Death, with Balsac and Dimebag doing the paint job.
Dimebag painted some of his guitars himself. You can actually find pictures of Dimebags Drawings for his guitars. He drawed like a 3yr old xD
+Robert Sparling i know what happend to Dime . He is one of my idols RIP Dime
I am not a big LoG fan anymore, but the jax dominion looks sick! Very classy
I hope you made an In Flames rig also!!!
Let's see an update to this!!!!!!!!!
how the hell is the drive and blend almost all way down on sansamp if he uses lots of distortion??
I love the body shape, I definitely can see the Telecaster and Les Paul and Jag influence in the shape
check out the skatecaster from charvel (i subcompany like fender and i belive jackson used to own charvel) it's like very similar and for the price its better than the cheaper version of the morton signatur
Yeah, I've seen them before. They rock. More or less a metal upped Jazzmaster
Just a request... Can you turn the very high end on the microphone to be turned down. I've lost a good amount of hearing and it still bugs me. Thanks guys!
thanks for this Premier Guitar! didn't know the existence of that new dominion until i saw this video :)
It would be cool if Jackson released a Dominion that had a pick guard. Something similar to whats on a '72 telecaster deluxe.
Mark said he puts DiMarzio's in all his guitars, yet the one with the spalted maple top has a Seymour Duncan in the neck.
does anybody know what the input switch is called?
Even the guitar tech has a beard......now that's dedication!!
is Hoggie Doniss (Willie's guitar tech) related to Jon Donias (Shadows Fall)?
Mark has the best guitars , love all of them , the red one is badass
28:05 Made in the USA by a Canadian 😂
can somebody tell the models of the mics?
Nice guys. Very good rundown.
Mark I feel your pain with the small hands. Lol
i need this pick tool!!!!
In Flames gear run would be awesome!
Could someone tell me what is the music at the end of the video? Can i find it somewhere ?
I like how Mark actually knows his stuff. Alot of these guys depend so heavily on their techs, and they just play. Nothing wrong with that....Mark is just interesting. He seems like the coolest guy too lol
