Two things: 1:) You don't have to manually drop the 3rd row headrests. The back release button will also release the headrests. 2.) The suspension is hydraulic, not pneumatic.
if people knew the capability of this truck it will sell out in droves this truck is capable of going a million miles and going anywhere on the planet.... my mom worked for unicef and she was chauffered around in landcruisers which this is essentially a landcruiser although the 2017 lx is a piece of shit body wise, this is the last great lx totally worth the price. 20 yrs from now it will still hold its value it does not break. 1997 lx 450 are around 13 to 15 thousand dollars
I own this and the new range rover sport supercharged, both have their own unique attributes. But the LX just has something that makes me love it more.
Theses so called "unnecessary" oil/battery/ temperature gauges are actually important for the golf countries ppl who actually use these trucks in desert. That's why it's very reliable car.
my friend has one of these as his first car at 16. it was a hand me down after his mom got a new GLS and it’s a sweet first car for him to drive our friend group around in. i still enjoy my ML350 a little more; just don’t love how upright the dash is in these LXs. The back seats are also surprisingly uncomfortable.
@@Alex-kt6hx the 2nd row was mainly what i was referring to, but both suck. the 2nd row is very upright and the seats aren’t very well padded, which is odd for Lexus. the third row seats seemed like an afterthought, awkwardly folding away and sitting mere inches off the floor, leading to your knees ending up in your face. they’re no good for anyone over like 5’ 2”. much worse than the third row seats in my 2017 GLS550.
I think lx 570 is the best!!! Range Rover's wouldn't be reliable by taking one example of those touch sensitive screens in the interior. They might have put this effort to reduce the number of buttons but the touch sensitivity of the screens won't be reliable under extreme conditions like those out in the deserts.
I think if I'm really in the market for one of these type of vehicles I'd go for a Toyota Land Cruiser which is this vehicle is based on to save me thousands while still have many of the tech features. Or I'd just get a Land Rover or Escalade, as those those are somewhat well established models in luxury full size SUV segment compare to this one.
If Lexus does plan to put Full Driver Assistance Technology on the LX, then the LX needs to be fully redesigned possibly for 2016, along with Toyota Land Cruiser and Sequoia. New direct injection engines for V8, 8 speed automatic transmissions, more standard equipment, spacious interior with seating capacity up to 8 passengers, and aluminum body-on-frame construction should be in these vehicles when redesigned.
Or they can "keep it simple, stupid" because the LX/LC doesn't need a bad rep from failing technology. This is why the Japanese have a huge reliability track record. While the other auto makers seem to dive into new tech in hopes of swaying people to buy the latest and shiniest thing on the market, the Japanese make incremental improvements to existing technology in the favor for the enduser. Take Toyota's first in the market 8 speed auto tranny. Nobody thought it was cool but now that everyone has it and Toyota isn't implementing it into their trucks, everyone knocks Toyota for not upping their gears and being competitive. Toyota build extremely reliable and durable trucks so just throwing stuff to make it competitive isn't their way of doing things. There's a reason why you see LXs and LCs with very high mileage with nothing more than standard maintenance. The first DOHC in a truck was done by Toyota in 1998. It took over a decade for them to do this because they were testing the tech on a passenger car to make sure it can meet durability and reliability standards. People laughed at the thought of a 32 valve V8 in the truck but fast forward today and everyone except GM has a 32 valve DOHC V8 truck. Direct injection is a pretty noisy and complex system so I'd imagine that Toyota doesn't really want that in a truck motor. Im pretty sure when that method of fuel deliver matures some more, it may make it into the truck market. Aluminum will not be used for structure because this is a world class vehicle. Repairing aluminum isn't something you can do in the outback, the sahara or the Serengeti. You have to keep that in mind because I'm pretty sure Toyota has these as a top priority.
CACressida they would put the full driver assistence in and also with reliablity. Japanese cars are always reliable so it probably would still be reliable. Japan made the car! Asians made it so they would be smart enough to make it safe and more advanced and reliable. Germans are just not smart as asians. And germans dont know how to design interiors. Especially mb and bmw
If your going to spend 90k on a luxury/off-road suv, I think you'll be better off getting a range rover sport. in my opinion the rover looks better, will be just as good if not better off road, has the incredible jaguar supercharged v8, a lovely interior, and is seriously quick for a 5000+ pound machine. But then again I don't have 90k to blow on a suv.
Absolutely agree here but the LX winning in 2 things. Reliability and holds its value down the road. Range rover google its review from previous owners to see how unreliable it is
They don't have RangeRover repair centers in the Sahara so good luck on buying that vehicle if you ever do get to afford it. When shit hit's the fan, you'll be lusting over the LX lol.
For some reason this video is not loading on any of my apple devices. I'm trying to replace my 2014 gx460 with a 2014 lx and I need to watch this review.
Imad Khan for me the google ads have been not loading which prevents the video from loading, there is a new UA-cam app update for iOS so maybe try that
Except it's not. It's funny how people who know nothing about vehicles tend to have a very swaying opinion. 2 very different chassis, suspensions and build quality. Even the Sequoia is only 80% Tundra. Can you say an F150 is practically a Mustang with a bed because they share the same engine albeit a different tuning? No. RangeRovers use Jaguar engines, GM's pushrod V8s are practically the same in design no matter what vehicle they're going in and a lot of everyone else's V6s and 4 bangers all are the same. So your "honesty" is as honest as the tooth fairy.
This shows how biased these reviews are. Literally every single full-sized luxury SUV is superior to this one in virtually every way, and yet these reviews will always have nothing but praise for Japanese cars, and nothing but criticism for anything else. It's like that with every car-reviewing group there is, too.
This is why I stay away from Japanese cars these days, their too cheap and greedy and too reserve. I mean come on 383hp for such a big SUV like that, its ridiculous, while the competitors in the German and U.S, and Korean market offer 400-500hp engines.
This wasn't made as mommy mobiles. These are sold as land cruisers in parts of the world where breaking down might mean death. So reliability, repairability and parts availability > hp and fuel economy.
jimmy pena I agree with that part yea, if Japanese car makers put more money into their cars, and improve their designs, they would kick German cars out of the park. The quality and comfort of Japanese cars like Lexus are top notch, smooth reliable crisp engines.
The competitors break down too easily and as such they are simply are not trust worthy as a off road Vehicle. If you want some 500 HP monster buy a corvette. This is a proper off road Vehicle unlike the competitors with only the Mercedes G class offering competition.
Here's the thing, this lx is the last of dying breed of body on frame true utilitarian suv remaining out there. Just because other manufacturers put out tons more hp compared to this Lexus doesn't mean is inadequate. I guarantee you this is a well balanced vehicle throughout rather than built for useless 5-600hp suv's.
I think the Range Rover is better looking more masculine. Range Rover has a sexiness to it. The exterior of the Lexus prints "Old Lady" I mean look at the weird lines and proportions. The target buyer of a Lexus would probably find the controls for 4WD to complicated and fussy.
I would buy the Infiniti QX 80 over the LX because the QX has 400 hp vs 380 hp in the Lexus and costs $12k less. The QX also gives you all the tech goodies that the LX doesn't offer.
Dude that QX is a big big ass Family car. Okay it got more horses. But its lot heavier. And you cant go hardcore off road with it. The LX is just better and more good looking. Cz that big ass QX is a ugly bull looking SUV
aram442 more torque on the infinity means better off-road, + lighter body, and on road it has more horse power so at high speeds its a better car., still talking about the infinity, i prefer the Lexus comfort cuz of the active air suspension system. but its good to have a car that gives you power when you need it. :)
everything is great on this car with the exception of the transmission. 6 speed? Come on that shit is 10 years old. They need to bring atleast a 8 or 9 speed transmission on this to increase fuel economy and smoothness.

Well the 2016 LX 570 is updated. It keeps the same 5.7 Liter V8, but it will be finally paired to the 8 speed automatic transmission just to keep up with the competition.
cooley for president
This would be awesome.

Two things:
1:) You don't have to manually drop the 3rd row headrests. The back release button will also release the headrests.

I like this guy's quirky, weird sense of humor and way of communicating.
Beautiful SUV inside and out. Beast and damn near indestructible
the best from the the best like always
the best from the the best like always

Just traded in my 2008 200 Series for a 2014 LX 570. Can't drive anything else!
Thank you for stating Brian's name in the car review comments. I ONLY view those he personally reviews. Thanks.
Just got on last month, Amazing vehicle
Congrats. Can you please give me an opinion on your ownership? Has it been good? I'm looking at a very low mileage one.
I own this and the new range rover sport supercharged, both have their own unique attributes. But the LX just has something that makes me love it more.
Congrats. Can you give me your opinion on ownership of the vehicle the LX? How has it treated you?
Awesome reveiw by our man ! Cooley!!!
i like this thing. its old school and luxurious
This style is better than 2016 and 2017 model
i love this caaaar
I gotta get me one of these.
Theses so called "unnecessary" oil/battery/ temperature gauges are actually important for the golf countries ppl who actually use these trucks in desert. That's why it's very reliable car.
Cooley said ammeter...its a voltmeter. An ammeter measures current (Amps) while voltmeter measure voltage difference (Volts).
FYI suspension is hydraulic not air
My happy with my land cruiser 2013 full option
I wouldn't mind have a card key fob.
Nice car! Thanks for sharing.
Everybody is just jeolous its a lexus
nah, the G-Wagon is just for status symbol.
beautiful color, plus that card key is slick.
On the 8th day God made Brian Cooley.
Let us rejoice!
COOOOOOOOOLEY!!

Its sad how you can know who's presenting in the video just by looking at the ratings.
As Cooley was in the interior I couldn't help but be distracted by the giant 69 in the background.
Love this and the land cruiser, such beautiful cars.
This lex is oldddddd looking on the interior.
DoubleD 613 IMO it would've look better with black leather!

You miss spoke it does not have air suspension. It has hydraulic suspension.
Great review. CNET brought the funny.
you mentioned air suspension... is it actually air or hydroponic.

the new 2016 lx has all the missing options and more
lol, iHeart owned by clear channel owns like 90% of all radio stations.
Most people who drive them do not go off road. So are they buying it? To show off or to tow, and feel secure. Just buy big Van.
People who buy this do go off road not everybody but there are a sizable number who do.
very nice
I wish u could post things in that Facebook app but it is just party's

Weak horsepower, a TON of missing tech and they want $90k?

good luck when it breaks on you...
Have fun at the repair shops
Gabriel Ali If you have the $ to buy a Range Rover, you also have the $ to repair it...
But why spend money on something that won't even last when you can get the reliability and class of owning a Lexus.
***** so you're telling me that you would like the car breaking on you and you going to a repair shop than not doing that at all....
83k? wow just get a used Porsche
Well the high reliability, strong resale and low cost of maintenance beg to differ.
I would even take a used bmw X5 over some Chinese plastic box on wheels
***** how?
***** im not trolling, a nice used Porsche for 83k
Kefir Bertulli its not Chinese, its Japanese

I just have to say one thing about this thing: God that is an ugly, overpriced.....cow!
This is the best off road vehicle there is.
and the most luxurious and more reliable.
Non-westerners know the real value of this car
