Your growth over these last few months has been so beautiful and phenomenal to watch. Self preservation is definitely a hard lesson to learn but a necessary one. You find true happiness and peace because your energy isn’t drained by those who can’t replenish it. It also let’s you focus that energy on the people that can. Also what you said about making your relationship with God your focus it reminded me of a quote. “A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek him just to find her.” - Max Lucado

I’ve realized this too. And at the moment I have no friends. And guess what? I feel really really happy..I kept letting my “friend” be toxic for years and then I realized I was much happier without them. It’s a nice realization. And I’m just focusing on myself and making myself better so I can hopefully meet friends that are good for me. Love your videos! ❤️

I LOVE this comment!! I've come to this same place in life and to realize that my happiness should not depend on others. Never have I been this happy.. the people who are meant to be in our lives and DESERVE to be will come along in due time..

I totally relate to this video. I’m so loyal that it’s almost a fault of mine. I stick by people, defend them. Look past shitty things they have done and I have always ended up hurt. I think where I’m at now in life is where I’m meant to be. And I’m holding on to faith that one day I will be surrounded by the right people. Even if it’s just one person, it’s better to have one loyal friend over 5 friends who make me feel like crap. I’m a single momma and my son is first priority, I need people that understand that. It’s scary doing this all alone but I’m doing it. I don’t have a single regret in the world. This video was so relatable and Britt always seems to post videos like these right when I need them. Or need to be reminded why I’m doing what I’m doing! I wish the best for her and everyone who replied to my comment. ❤️

"Seeing people for what you want them to be versus what they are"- Britt, This statement here is the very reason I have finally learned to walk away from the things that don't help fill my ocean of happiness. It is difficult to realize that the fault is within yourself and not with the people you associate with. I am to, an accomplice in raising people to a level that they don't belong on. Thank you for sharing.

I have been that way also most of my life, good you learned it now, I learned it late in life, I am 67, I have found that it is rare to meet people that are as loyal as I am, not bragging it's just a fact, happy for you that you are getting this now in life, you are getting wise. and you are so right on about having a relationship with God. And yes don't get hard and cold, but be cautious. I felt like it was selfish also, but you have to love yourself.

First off, you look absolutely gorgeous in this video! Thank you so much for sharing your own experience. I am in my 20s and I have been struggling with this, specifically feeling bad for walking away from draining relationships + realizing that I put certain empty friendships on a pedestal. I'm definitely in a season of trusting God to bring the right people in my life. This video was very helpful! Thank you for being honest.

This directly spoke to me! This is my heart completely and you’re right we should never stop showing grace but it is good to be aware of those draining relationships. And when you showed your tattoo I almost cried that’s the exact I’ve been wanting to get to because I feel like I needed a visual way to remind myself to be still and trust God and let him guide me in my relationships. You’re doing an amazing job on your channel by the way! Keep going love I enjoy your videos.

I'm loyal too to a fault, but there does come a time when it becomes ridiculous to continue to give to a high level to a person who is not giving to the same level back to you. Yes it was Maya who said that and it's true. One mistake does not make you a certain way. Yes it's the repeated behavior that does. Oh Brit I became aware of this a few years ago. I stopped looking for people to do what only God can. They are not my everything and people will always fail you. So glad you also know this too. ❤️❤️

SO MANY THUMBS UP FROM ME, BRITT!!! I’ve had the same epiphanies in my life as well! Facing the end of a marriage after 25 years, making many accommodations and sacrifices for someone who wasn’t what I thought they were. I allowed those sacrifices to get in the way of my relationship with the Lord. It is God’s grace through His Son that has given me inner peace and healing!!! THANK YOU for sharing this, Britt!! 🙌🏽❤️☝🏽

Beautifully said Britt. I appreciate you sharing your self reflection on how even good intentions can be flawed. As young women we do tend to be loyal to a flaw and overlook so many red flags about people. It can be completely detrimental to us and we will still stick with it until God puts the brakes on it. Plus God said for us to guard our hearts because people who don’t know the value of it will trample all over it. Mistakes help to refine Gods diamonds(us). The gems of knowledge and wisdom you blessed us with in this video are worth so much more than you realize. Thank you

Britt, I completely relate to this. I’ve done a lot of reflection as well, and I’ve realized that it’s not worth it to put in so much to people who don’t seem to value you and your relationship with them as much as you do. There have been situations where I have given people second chances and third chances. I did realize and reflect upon situations that happened in the last few years, and that it’s okay to let go, and to move on from those situations that cause complications and emotionally draining and frustrating. I’ve been so much happier and more positive rather than working so hard to make a friendship or relationship to work. If it’s not meant to work, it’s not meant to, and that’s okay.

Thank you for your vulnerability. I struggle with this too. I always see the potential in people even when they are toxic and that has brought much pain and harm to my life but the past few years I've been learning to have boundaries. I read the book too and it was really good. I ready every version of it and really focused on applying it to my life. I still feel really bad when I put up boundaries with people (almost like I'm doing something wrong) but I'm able to do it and I see the result afterwards. We are all a work in progress.

I agree with everything you have said. You have to be careful with where you really invest your time and energy. I believe that you can’t change a person a person can only change themselves. If someone makes a mistake, we can love them through it, but it is their responsibility to pick themselves up and do the work to change. If they don’t, then we ultimately have to part ways.

I, too, am loyal and kind to those whom I consider my friends. Sometimes people take sweetness as a weakness, which is a big mistake in my book. God is so good. He loves His children and has a way of teaching us, leading and guiding us by allowing us to go through certain situations in life, aka "Life Lessons." In my own life, I have seen how God would allow me to go through an experience, but within the experience was a lesson to be learned that He was trying to teach me. Whenever the same kind of situations keep occurring in my life, I know that I am missing what God is trying to teach me, and I have to adjust myself accordingly. It is the same for all of us. We will keep being presented with the same test until we finally pass it.
    God bless you.

Omg Britt I am exactly the same. I am finally at a place where I see the value of being loyal but also how dangerous it can be when you're being loyal to someone who doesn't give a da*n that you're gifting them that. I also struggle with imagining that friendship are deeper then they are. I think, for me personally, I want so badly to be loved on a deeper level and I was ready to go deeper so I assumed they were too. It's been freeing, if not a little lonely to live more authentically and let people be who they are ❤❤

I support you Brit! I know things were really tough and still may be but it's so good you're doing self-analysis and growing from it all. I once was so love in a relationship with a guy 4 yrs younger than me. I made more money than him so I bought a lot of things for him and always looked at him through rose-colored glasses. He abruptly ended things a d I vowed after that to see guys for who they are, not who I want them to be. When I started dating again, I guarded my heart more and really got to know guys for who they were and it helped so much. Now I'm in a loving, committed relationship and I think you'll find a great guy too. Sometimes the one that we think is right for us isn't but instead prepares us for the right person.

Love you, Brit! I grew up with a single mom, but she made sure to surround me with people who CHOSE to love and value me. I never even knew there was a "void", and it taught me self-worth. Granted, I never knew my father so that probably helped. Either way- keep loving your babies and surrounding yourself and them with people who truly want to be there. Show them what quality relationships look like. I will specifically pray for Kai to have strong male role models in every stage of his life. Praying for you and your babies. If you've got God, you've got more than you need.

Someone I considered my sister is no longer in my life. I realized we were never really what I assumed we were and when I looked back on the previous years, I can clearly see that. It was a very one sided friendship. We had so much in common, but in reality, we really didn’t. True friendship meant something completely different to each of us. Such a great video!

YES ! Truly great relationship advice. Whether it's marriage or friendship we need to watch for patterns of negative behavior. I've learned to set more boundaries in relationships , instead of assuming that my definition for a relationship is the same as theirs.

Thanks for sharing! Your epiphany describes what has caused some of my deepest heartaches. Trusting God is definitely what some of us know is the only way, but we struggle in the act of applying that in our lives. God bless you 💕

Definitely me. I always see the good in people. I was in a 6yr relationship and it was so draining for me and I was in denial about it. I gave him 100% but barely got 50% in return. Now I'm just trying to chill out and love me again. Thanks for being so real. ❤

I am so glad that you are in a good place. There is NOTHING better than being in a good place in your head, in your space.

I agree ...sometimes you have to pull back from ...all the way back from those people who do not place value in you. Sometimes when you are too available and too loyal , people will walk on you.

So true Brittany. So many of us want to see people a certain way instead of actually seeing them and accepting them for who they are.

I think the mistake we make is confusing being nice with being civil. Being civil is wishing the person the best and letting your expectations about them go. Part of that is recognizing you deserve someone or friends who are going to value you flaws and all. But don't fault yourself for being a loving caring forthcoming person. Love is a beautiful thing. We expect to receive the love we give. So give your love to people who are deserving.

Yes, this is me right now. And yes it took me a long time to finally release the toxicity of my life but once I did I felt so much relief. It's hard to let go sometimes.
