As good as this kit is, the cost is unrealistic. Roland and their retailers have to start selling these at sensible prices.

Sound wise I haven't heard anything that sounds even as good as superior drummer. 8 grand yeah right

The convenience doesn't offset the price at all. I apprecitate the engineering and production and value it highly, but not as high as they are charging. The costs cannot be close to the asking price. The overhead cannot be that high, surely they'd make more by lowering the MSRP and encouraging more people to buy.

Mark Thomas Just get a cheaper set and use it to trigger good samples. The prices on these things are ridiculous and as soon as you buy one they drop at least 33% of their value. I bought a TD-20 set about ten years ago that was almost brand new and got it for close to half the new price

Just for a TD30K mint used for the price of a TD25K after waiting for so many years. By the time I can afford a TD50KV... Makes everyone turn to alternatives.

The cost is unrealistic for the market, most people use these kits for practice and use acoustic for live, the sounds are too broad based, rock drummers don't really want, jazz, fusion kits and vice versa, kit choices from download needs to be developed.

Honour to Roland!! If you do the math, you'll be begging them not to charge you for the 100? 200? sorry 400 percussive instruments and to keep the price the same. Improved cymbal and snare conotrol out of rubber, mesh and wires? What's the cost of one set of congas? Timpani? Cowbells? Is it only 10 bass drums? 10 snares? 10 cymbals. 10 toms? Including hardware? Looking cheaper and cheaper already? How about soundproofing your room or your home so that the neighbours don't hate you? Practising at 1 a.m.? Using headphones? Come on guys... You pay for the technology. Is a car manufacturer going to charge you a pittance for a high tech state of the art machine? If you were in car design and you wanted to send your kids to varsity, would you be happy getting paid too little for your work? There are cheap alternatives, but they don't have the features in terms of realism and control. Cymbal resonance control out of a rubber disc? If we really needed less you wouldn't have these people considering you and their own staff when they design. Versatility in studio or practice environment, not being bound by the acoustics of the room, where the nightclub's reflective surfaces make your acoustic kit sound like you have a banging door for a bass drum and the dullness of the toms is so bland that you wish that the sound guy would have brought subs, and that he would listen to you when you ask him to turn the bass drum up, remove the click and add some air and lower mid range with a slight hollowness in the upper midrange.... i don't know if you know what I mean. Roland is really making an effort to develop the state of the art in terms of what pros need. And they get insulted for it? Would you like us to retrogress? Let's have a weaker economy by paying people less for their work?
