    "off you go"; says casually, as he pushes the sack she's trapped in into the water...
    I think the idea for this episode wouldn't have left the sketchboard if proposed in the current climate haha

    Locked in the bag with the key
    Anyone else's first thought was:
    Rake the key against the bag and slowly cut a hole through it it

    Cold water triggers the mammalian dive reflexe, slowing the heart rate and enabling you to hold your breath far longer underwater. That coupled with relaxation techniques and I'm not surprised it worked.

      thers a lot of gueniue phycologhical with other just werird pheomonon people have just stumbled over in his acts. I mean its what I like about him. Even if most of it is 'carny' phycology and body oddites if you take a second to look into them youll come away with a load more info. You may like the mystery. But dont stop people from sharing info or making them feel bad for doing it. Theres actaully a pretty high chance 1 person has read his comment and has used it as a springboard to get into diving or learning the calm state.@@TheKillingJoker1980

    The stunt with Angela seems a bit borderline to me. It's obviously great entertainment but they could've had at least a diver at the bottom of the lake to ensure her safety. I mean, Derren said they had ONE fixed camera underwater. What if the sack had dropped/sunk in a way that the camera wouldn't have caught it (clearly)? And what if Angela had accidentally dropped the key and in a moment of panic gasped for air, thus getting a load of water in her lungs? Choking to death is absolutely excruciating and they wouldn't even have seen her struggle. I guess they would've gotten her out after 3 minutes or so but by that point, she may have already sustained irreparable brain damage. So yeah... pretty risky game. Also, I hope she didn't get traumatized from being awoken by a bunch of strangers standing in her bedroom in the middle of the night. I'm saying this because something like this happened to me when I was living in South Korea as an undergrad student. I was living in a studio apartment and for some reason, the landlord had copies of all the keys to all the apartments. I found out about this because one early morning around 6.30pm, I heard a knocking on the door. I was still in bed and I was naked, so I thought to myself: "fuck it, I'm too lazy to get up and get dressed. That person can come back later." However, as I was thinking this, I heard a key in the lock and a moment later, the landlord was literally standing next to my bed. I wasn't scared but I felt extremely embarrassed, awkward, shocked, confused, and invaded in my privacy. I think the experience traumatized me a bit because in the apartment where I live now, I still sometimes get scared of random people entering. It's been more than 10 years but sometimes I still shoot up in my bed panting because I heard some neighbor being noisy in the hallway and my sleepy brain thinks there's someone in my bedroom.

      @@TheKillingJoker1980 Solid point for that theoretical version of me who said something like "I've solved this puzzle before, I could totally do this escape no problem!" But in this reality, what I actually said was that what they are presenting on the show as some great secret is actually a well known ring puzzle you can find in commercial brain teaser products, and made no comment whatsoever about the difficulty of the situation they were creating for the escape.

    I have to say that I was really disappointed Derran that in this occasion your team went in and first thing they said to a ‘potential kidnap victim’ was that they were there basically with regards to yourself which basically tells her that there is never any ‘real’ threat??? I was disappointed with this one because I have high regard to the majority I have seen to date. Just very disappointed.

    • @funeralforahorse
      @funeralforahorse 8 місяців тому +6

      I want you think deeply about this - you really expect that a publicly-funded TV network would kidnap a woman for an extended period, without any consent or dialogue, convincing her that her life is at genuine risk? For a tv show, for you to enjoy? That’s your bare minimum expectation for a Tv show who’s goal is entertainment? Please tell me that’s what you though

    • @ScriptedLinks

      @@funeralforahorse I can see where Janice's point comes from, as Derren has done this before with "Apocalypse." He has on numerous occasions make people feel as if their life were in imminent danger.

    • @funeralforahorse
      @funeralforahorse 8 місяців тому +2

      @@ScriptedLinks nope. At no point during apocalypse did the guy think his life was at risk. He may have not been expecting the show to start at that specific time but he knew Brown was going to hypnotise him at some point, and hypnosis can’t make you do something you don’t want to do. He would have known the zombies etc etc weren’t “real”, but he was suggestible enough to go along with the fiction
