Im one of the few who hated this breakdown bc im still mad at Drake for the freeing the slaves line but it was Justin calling it hubris that made me want to give him grace.
Now, i realize Matt approached this like Aubrey did, they both missed the cultural impact. They both thought they were too big to fail. And how the turns have tabled!
Because the 6:16 breakdown was 🔥! He can still do that again. But the crash out, the tweets and the personal attacks is not the path forward.

@@jeremyhecht Extremely sickening. The fact that he thinks he can talk to anyone like that, let alone Company Man... Who is the nicest, most genuine guy. Dirt showedhis real face, cannot accept the apology... I just do not believe or trust him AT ALLL. The way he talks about women, about Whitney shows he has no respect for women AT ALLL...... To speak on someone's life like that is chilling to me, someones partner, their internal dynamics especially when they don't put it out. These guys are all mini drakes. And 90% of his content is stolen from smaller youtubers without giving credit. I gave him the best comment till I bumped into breakdowns that were immediate but on smaller channels. People need to understand Justin is not just an OG in hip hop analysis he’s a founding father. In his video he mentions bringing long form content to hiphopdx but he didn’t even mention all the work he did before UA-cam to legitimize literally analysis of hip hop. I’m talking before it was even common to analyze pop culture seriously. He was the first person I ever heard of doing anything like this back in the early 2010s when he would blog. To suggest he has no motion because his UA-cam following isn’t exactly reflective of all the work he does behind the scenes is crazy.

Yeah the disrespect was so out of line. The added context makes it so much worse. I only recently found Justin's channel and was intrigued because he's so clearly educated, wise and compassionate. As someone who's studied journalism I could tell he had a journalistic background.
I had no idea how pivotal he was to this space until I saw Curtis' video reacting to the WTD crash out, WTD going over why disrespecting the Company Man was so shameful and now your comment. Good grief. No wonder everyone came together in his defence. Glad to see it. ❤

To be honest I think he really is sorry and does now understand why his behaviour was disgusting and shameful. I believe the apology was genuine, but it's up to the Company Man whether he accepts it or not.

He is actively trying to break up a family with debunked rumors! WTD's reaction to Justin was unhinged and FULL of racist dog whistles (including calling him stupid/ignorant 15 times). This is not even the first time he has gone unhinged on a YTer. He did the same thing to Cliff Beats a couple of months ago (Cliff has a video response on his channel).
The truth is that WTD showed his true colors and we, the culture, responded according. He can go profit off of the traumas of his own culture, I'm done for good.

Thank you so much for speaking on this topic. It is so important for us all to honor any culture that we are involved with. Unfortunately, African American culture is a byproduct of chattel slavery as our original African heritage was beaten out of us over time. The African American culture is considerably much newer than most ethnic groups and is intertwined with American culture at large. Because of this, African American culture has been monetized byway of the nature of American capitalism and adopted by everyone globally. As black people, we have fought to keep what is rightfully ours without the threat of others robbing and perverting our culture once again. We are not a monolith and our culture is complex as anyone else’s. Yes we produce music of all sorts some sub genres more toxic than others but we are more than what some of these commentators have tried to reduce us to. Thank you Jeremy for upholding the integrity and honoring the culture as a true ally. People like Adam 22, Vlad Tv, What’s the Dirt, and Andrew Schultz can learn a thing or two from you. ❤️‍🔥

I get that we should lean toward rehabilitation and growth and building bridges, but I have to say that I think it’s wrong to say that he should go ahead and make Meet the Grahams. Frankly I think this guy should stop covering hip hop entirely. The mistake WTD made wasn’t a simple one, it wasn’t one anyone could make, it was the sort of mistake a specific type of person with a specific type of character makes. The way he conducted himself demonstrated such a profound lack of understanding of the culture at the heart of this art form and such a profound lack of respect for a black colleague that I think on the basis of that alone there’s literally no reason to listen to anything WTD has to say about hip hop unless he similarly demonstrates his growth in those areas.

First video of yours I've seen, the more of these videos i see the more apparent it becomes to me that the black experience and the black American experience are complete worlds apart and that your words probably extend to non black americans regardless if they're black or not. I've watched this Kendrick/Drake perspective from the black canadian experience and its so different from the black American takes. Its been a fascinating learning experience as a foreign observer. Seeing the grifters and those who are genuinely passionate about this historical moment of hip hop.

  • @ChefOG_Ra
    @ChefOG_Ra 3 місяці тому +1

The situation WTD found himself in could have been avoided if he had the foresight to have an advisor or co-editor to help him navigate the cultural aspects of his work. Imagine if he had previewed his work to Justin (for example). There may have been a uncomfortable conversation about the things we saw issue with, but WTD hopefully woulda got some understanding from that conversation, and put out a piece that was received as well as his previous breakdowns. We're long overdue for change in this space, and in the world...people better get right, before they get run over. ✌🏾

Foreign did a great video (maybe a year ago??) on what makes a guest welcome… and what does not. Should be required viewing for anyone that doesn’t want to risk overstepping/overstaying their welcome. He names the people you likely thought of when Jeremy mentioned those he wouldn’t name, and he breaks down the issues with some guests who’ve overstayed, but are too popular for them to care about correcting how they move.
His channel is Foreign Man in a Foreign Land and he posts long form content on there like once or twice a month, so it shouldn’t be hard to find but if you’re interested and need me to find the title, just let me know.

Keep up the great work bro. This is a conversation that needs to really be talked about. I didnt even know you were Canadian at first that just shows how much you respect the culture. But we should have a deeper conversation about exactly what the culture is. I know for a fact my mixed Canadian cousins wouldn't understand the culture as much if it wasn't for us in the States teaching them things about. Not only is it a black & white thing. Hip-Hop has gotten global since I was a kid & I'm about to be 35. There's certain things just can't Googled or understand just because you like the music. Just like I know there's stuff Canadian rappers speak about I as American won't understand no matter how often I goto or been in Canada

Great video!! What's the dirt game plan was to wait till all of you hip hop UA-camrs give your takes of the whole battle. Then wait to do a breakdown months after as if he did research when all along he was watching all of these UA-camrs stealing their ideas stealing everything and plagiarizing them then regurgitating it into his own words. And sprinkling in some false narratives. And boom he tricks the algorithm. Then UA-camrs react to it as if it's new material. This is an aura boras of nonsense now. There's been multiple hip hop albums that have been dropped since the Drake and Kendrick beef and nobody's talking about them. And it kind of makes me sad and proves the point that Kendrick was making.

Yes, WHAT'S THE DIRT and AKADEMIKS are sponsored by HAPPY DAD (He is even wearing the HAPPY DAD shirt in his fake apology video) . NELK owns HAPPY DAD and is affiliated with DRAKE 🎉 What's the dirt did all of this on purpose - not to continue with the rest of the breakdowns because that will further unmask/expose Drake. What's the dirt has also publicly confirmed that he is in a group chat with VLAD, AKADEMIKS and ADAM22. WHAT'S THE DIRT is as fake/insincere as DRAKE, they do not care about the culture/rap hip-hop and it is all about the fame, money and influencing our children for them - THEY ARE NOT LIKE US

For ANYONE who thinks race should or does play a part in HipHop and Rap… absolutely loses respect from me!💯
One of the MANY great things about HipHop is that it’s universal, and it’s something that can bring people together, not matter their background… but some people are destroying that!💯🤦‍♂️
And to exclude people or treat them differently and not equal… sounds REALLY familiar to some other bullshit that was and at times, still is happening… so why do what has been frowned upon now for a while🤔🤷‍♂️
