Recorded guest questions were provided by Zig and Zag, Chesney Hawkes, B*Witched members Lindsay Armaou and Keavy Lynch, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Vic and Bob (Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer), Linford Christie, and Charles Dance (doing a dramatic reading from the autobiography of Melanie Brown).
Original Broadcast Date: 23 September 2012
Annual British TV show with a comedy panel in the style of a pub quiz with questions relating to the events of the year just gone by.

I love that during the credits, Mr Blobby uncharacteristically shook everyone's hands quite professionally, and looked a little injured from the fall, then just hopped a desk to run after Jack.
Loved it so much haha! I need to see more of Mr Blobby and Jack Whitehall
I have watched this episode countless times but only saw the credits today 😂 Imagine though being chased away by your childhood fear? Terrifying!
@Alfredhadesworth9253 only just watched the credits for the first time today, as I've come from the 6 mins Blobby highlight vid. And it's even better than that: he goes down the line and Jack is cowering so he skips him for Denise. Then he comes back to Jack, goes onto one knee as a peace gesture and to be less threatening, and then he again offers his hand to Jack. But Jack slinks away, and that's when Blobby gives chase, knowing that Jack will never not fear him, so he may as well have his fun chasing him off the set
The last segment with Mr Blobby is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Haven’t laughed so hard in quite a while 👌
It's one of the funniest things that has ever happened
The physical comedy work in that last segment was amazing.
Mr Blobby go get the trophy... OMG I can't breathe. Stop it it hurts.
That was bloody hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious and terrifying all at once
Dara breaking Claudia like a billion times was such a wonderful part of this episode. And oh my god, the whole bit with Mr Blobby and Jack was gold.
Sounds a little dirty
Blobby should have won a BAFTA TV award for this performance. It’s one of my favourite things that’s ever been on television.
Mr. Blobby KILLED IT. I've not laughed that hard in a _long_ time. Utterly hilarious.
Yeah he really did chaotic neutral perfectly
I laughed so hard with Mr. Blobby, I was crying and couldn’t breathe. This show is hilarious, but that was hands-down the funniest thing to come out of The Big Fat Quiz. (But also, that guy’s terrifying.)
I laughed just as hard at Dara’s “Babe Station” miming.
i agree.
Dara's Nelson Mandela impersonation sounds like Greg Davies Chris Eubanks's impersonation.
U win the comment section!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
YES!! THANKS! I recognised it but couldn't remember where 😂😂
Stupendous
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom"
Cracks me up every time.
This is a niche joke that just makes me smile.
This show is literally the best to watch alone and stoned late at night. It makes me feel like I'm watching a documentary.
That moment between Jack and Mr. Blobby was so funny, but let's not forget also the ChatBack reenactment of Dara was so damn hilarious!!
I laughed so much at Mr Blobby I had to my asthma inhalers out. Jack Whitehall looked genuinely traumatised 🤣🤣
I enjoy the bit where Dara, Phill, and Alan invented "Whose Chatline is it Anyway?"
All it needed was Clive Anderson and we could’ve had a pilot episode! 😂
Bummed there's so many missing video clips. I love trying to play along with these. Friggin adore Dara, Jack, and Alan. What a panel. Lol.
Yeah it's a lie when they call it 'full episode'.
Im assuming the clups cant be posted on youtube for copyright reasons, if they inclused them these videos would not be on youtube at all..
@@thijsfb Who's copyright? This is the official big fat quiz channel, they've had the copyright since it was originally aired.
@@mrianwonder6527 As if that ever mattered to youtube lmao
Makes no sense. I saw this episode a long time ago, and it wasn't cut like it is now
can we talk about how smoothly the dude in the blobby suit jumped and rolled off camera? i understand blobby is the shape of a bowling pin, but that was still incredibly smooth.
Dara’s impression of Nelson Mandela is the exact same as Greg Davies doing Chris Eubank 😵💫😂😂😂😂😂
You are literally trying to kill me with this one. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time ... my wife thinks I am insane.
Turning the chat line question into pantomime about boxes lifts and stairs (and then dying laughing) is quintessential British humor imo.
I've never heard of Mr Blobby... but he will now haunt my dreams
God i havent seen Blobby for years! Tho on reflection as an adult, i now do mimic jacks question/statement of "how the fuck were you allowed round kids?!". Still in tears as i type this, one of the best endings to a program ive seen haha
Dara's Babe station routine is amazing.
Not gonna lie, if I was Jack's mate, every halloween, I'd get a group of 9 mates, all dress up as Mr Blobby, and just follow him around London
HAHAHAHA
I'm American and this is one of many BBC shows I look forward to every year. I've watched every one of these including 2023 and it's way better than American TV.
Jack and Denise were so good.
Imagine having that team, vs Russel Brand & Noel Fielding, vs Richard Ayoade & David Mitchell.. The episode would get nowhere, Jimmy would be so exasperated, it would be great!
They tried that. The audience members who remained conscious (many passed out from lack of oxygen due to excessive laughing), claim it was the greatest piece of television ever. Sadly the cameras recording it spontaneously combusted, so no record of it remains. Jimmy had a breakdown from the exasperation, hijinks and sheer chaotic genius of it all, and had to take a break from TV work for a few months, so they couldn't even film a replacement show. They had to show a repeat that year.
Nothing would get done
That would be great, but half way through I imagine David & Russell would be on a team, because inevitably Noel & Richard would team up.
@@buttonsfan It would be chaos no matter what teams they come up with. Or they'll switch teams halfway through the episode just to piss off Jimmy
@@stone5against1 that’s what I was saying they’d talk shit for a bit, then Russell or Noel would change seats and be together again.
Mr. Blobby = Laugh so hard I need oxygen
Mr Blobby was friggen hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have rewatched the ending with mr blobby so much now. One of the best and most chaotic things i have ever seen!
its great to see Mr Blobby on TV again, although I didn't remember him ever having an Irish accent!
Great chemistry among the group. Love Jack and Denise river dancing together. 😆
Claudia is a total gem.
Oh man thats the best episode ever. We need blobby and Jimmy all the time.
So glad this channel decided to start uploading full episodes. Kind of pointless otherwise.
Love the brief look of despair from Charles Dance at the end of his reveal. You can see the 'the things I do for a paycheck' look in those eyes for a moment there.
That's him just being a great actor though. He does/did similar things on Celebrity Juice, and took over this role from the legendary John Hurt. He 100% loves doing this especially taking over from Hurt, and doubt he even gets much money from it, as it'd be a day or two of filming and they'd just film it when Charles is free on one day
It's been years since I first saw this and I am still everyday since distraught that they haven't brought back mr blobby for a weekly show like this.
Dara made me wheeze so many times this episode
I don't care what anyone says, Blobby is fckn hilarious. I don't know who they get to do it, but they always nail it.
22:10 that is the most 90s answer to that question ever Phil is a legend 😂😂😂
It was all worth it for Mr.Blobby.
MR BLOBBY HAD ME IN TEARS
it makes me laugh everytime i re watch mr blobbys bit,as you can just hear Dara’s uncontrollable laugh
I must have missed Mr. Blobby when I was a kid, but I'm glad I did because I get all of the comedy and none of the trauma for his resurgence.
When Jack and Denise were dancing they looked like THE MUPPETS!!!! LOL
ONE of the best episodes in my while! ❤🤣❤️
All I wanna do is watch Mr Blobby chase Javk Whitehall around the studio and mess up Jimmy Carr's Ken Doll image.
I am cracking up!
that ending is legendary, btw I love how Jimmy gets abused by Mr Blobby
im american, never seen mr blobby, but oh my god im in love, i skipped the whole quiz just to see him
This is freaky!! I just watched BFQOTY 2023 yesterday and they had "The Tennis Lady" as a guest!! As they did already with the baby from the other poster Dara just mentioned!! Crazy stuff!!
That River dance bit was the greatest thing ever 😆😅
34:44 best ten minutes of a quiz show. Let funny people be funny together.
No coincidence that Whitehall was silent throughout.
Ahh thank you for the time code for this - I die laughing at Dara just like Claudia did
The end is amazing 🤣
I'm with Jack on this one! How the f*** was Mr Blobby allowed near kids?! He's friggin terrifying! Similar reason why people hate clowns probably.
He literally wouldn't look out of place in some kind of horror movie/game.
Five nights at freddies kind of s*** right there!
Thought the U.S. was bad with Barney the Dino, but the U.K. takes the prize with Mr. Blobby.
Nightmares tonight.
Top tip - Take some magic mushrooms and he will seem completely normal😁
Barney was puerile pap for kids, though: ludicrous Merkin teeth plus wholesome puritan Merkin sensibilities. Blobby - a complete bastard - was puerile pap from an adult show aimed at an adult audience. Drunk, stoned and horribly brain-damaged, yes, but adult nonetheless.
A lot of people hated Blobby (and his creator!) with a passion so intense that it made them physically sick. Kids were both revolted and terrified of him in the same way that...(gasp, shudder, puke)... that they loathed... that they loathed... creepy... circus clowns. 🤡 Noooooooo...
And then there’s the Philippines with Jollibee (the mascot).
@@EleanorPeterson I wouldn’t say Blobby was strictly for adults given that kids have also been around him and there were some kids who were fans of him.
@@EleanorPeterson Blobby wasn't aimed purely at adults. Noel's House Party was broadcast at about 18:00, aimed at a 'family audience'. The Blobbyland Theme Park was certainly aimed specifically towards children.
my god that was the best laugh I've had this year!
Winkleman nails it at @1:01:23
I'm 46, and am far too old to be going out with a 20 year old. She would be really bored.
Fr ted is legitimately still the funniest thing ever. It crowd long long second. And no tird. Tanks
That mr Blobby actor was on freaking point!
What makes Mr. Blobby funnier is that Jack mentioned earlier in the show how traumatized he was by the character! Whoever was in that Blobby suit is an amazing performer! *chef's loss*
This episode is a national treasure!
That just made me snort with laughter hilarious 😂
It is so interesting to see something only 12 years ago with people baffled by the futuristic cyber pen from the future, and sitting here in 2024 with my iPad and Apple Pencil. Also the photoshopped posters in 2012 compared to the video with the faces blended in on the 2024 video is so insane to see the change in technology.
denise van outen and jack whitehall was the duo needed for this
Hate it when people talk about nothing happening with the y2k bug, when the reason was that thousands of programmers (myself included) spent the months leading up to y2k working incredibly hard to make sure that nothing happened. We should've been getting medals
Here’s a couple 🎖 🏅
Thank you! 😊
This is the best watching The Big Fat Quiz 2012 the 90’s wow loving it
As a kid I never noticed how demonic Mr Blobby sounded
I’m so glad I grew up in a country that had no Mr. Blobby. Jesus Christ.
Lucky bastard! I had to put up with that shite on tv every Saturday. Mystifies me why anyone ever liked it.
Mr Blobby is an icon and I will always love him
This is my fave big fat quiz ever!! :D
OK, Mr. Blobby is pretty-damn funny. I hope he had a bit of a resurgence after this show, just not back to a kids show but a show aimed at older audiences.
I broke my last telly in 1985. When I was rich enough to buy a new telly I saw Mister Blobby at someone's house. I have not owned a television since.
When they go furll "Chaos" mode and go WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY out of the trail of the program - THEY ARE THE BEST - and the Bloby was the pick of chaos - i was literally ROFL-ing. 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂
17:04 My all time favourite moment from this TV show. I mean from the whole run.
"I'm not sure if this is entertainment" - says Jimmy. It is very entertaining for me. :)
Love the special glasses for Hubble, to funny.
I didn't want that to end
I have never laughed so hard as i do at Mr Blobby,, omfg,, cheeks and stomach hurts
Thank you!!!
That River Dance bit by Jack and Denise was brillient.. in fact the only thing that would have made it a absolute classic is if Denise Van Outen was wearing a low cut top
The Y2K computers didn't just say "oh, ok". Disaster was averted because the collective international IT industry worked our arses off patching every conceivable computer system everywhere to change the date formatting etc so that when it ticked over to 2000 all the computer systems didn't assume it was 1900. And then instead of any congratulations for this Herculean effort, we had people saying "nothing even happened! what a lot of panic for nothing!"
Right on! People confuse prediction (which can be averted) with prophecy.
Congratulations. Thank You for your hard work. But I was really hoping to travel backwards in time 100 years ..
But did you try just turning it off and on again?😁
@@bradhartliep879 and 22 years later, you are the only person who has ever thanked me... . I'm sorry I couldn't facilitate time travel for you though!
@@pseudonayme7717 I'm sure that would have been the next step if our preparations hadn't worked out ;)
Love Alan Davies. ♥️♥️
To be fair with the Y2K bug, the reason it didn't happen is bc a LOT of people in tech worked VERY hard and quickly to prevent it. A lot of the terrible scary stuff predicted about it actually would have happened if nothing had been done. It's kind of like when people joke about no one talking about the hole in the o-zone anymore, when the reason for that is that people stepped up and figured out how to fix it. Anyway, now that I'm done being pedantic, grate episode, I fucking loved Blobby!
This isn't the full episode, multiple video clips and questions are missing.
Probably don't have the rights
@@paulaus Then don't put "FULL EPISODE" in all caps in the video title.
@@KelleyEngineering Righto
@@KelleyEngineering Settle down Karen
Hopefully we can get through these most trying of times
Paused at 15:17. Even though you cut out Vanilla Ice's video part, I'm still gonna go ahead and guess he's talking about the second Ninja Turtles film.
so mr blobby is essentially like the teletubbies on bath salts
If Phil Jupitus lost the 90s quiz I’d have lost my shit…
That was funnier than it should’ve been.
I think this might be my favorite.
Because I like British entertainment I know who Mr. Blobby is....
Boris Johnson.
Seen it before am laughing before even watching it again remembering all the funny shit hahaha Mr Blobbie hahahahah cheers yah farking legend..... ...
Mr. Blobby is even more terrifying looking than the composite sketch of the Golden State Nightstalker.
When Dara made the joke about the INLA, I can't believe nobody piped up with Fresh Prince of Belfast.
1:03:19 “HOW THE FREAK WERE YOU ALLOWED FOR KIDS!!!!" is a question that I ask Ryan’s World and Baby Shark making a Nick Jr TV show exist every day.
This was my first time seeing Mr. Blobby. What the hell.
I come back to this every now and then, just to see Jack living through his nightmare. Best end to one of these shows I've seen.
Tbh I’m with jack on this one. Mr Blobby can “Smeg off!”
@Vtarngpb oh, definitely. Mr Blobby is terrifying, but schadenfreude is a thing, so I can laugh at Jack's horror.
Mr Blobby was hilarious! 😂😂😂 Any idea who was in the suit?
Barry Killerby
At 1.09:09 Jimmy said 'Joe' and then quickly changed it to Blobby. I reckon it's Joe Wilkinson. It's the sort of crazy shit he'd do
“The children of Mitchellbrook primary school have done a play, Which news story are they acting out?”
Me - “oh please be Diana’s crash!”
The fuck dude?....
OK I wanna see this 😂
In the 1990s Jimmy Carr was working as Edgar Bergan's wooden puppet ..
How was Mr Blobby a children's tv character!? 🤔Kids in the 90s were either terrified or likes some weird stuff. Glad I was born in the 2000s
Loved Mr blobby as a kid, don't know how the hell I did, terrifying lol
How can this be called a FULL EPISODE when most of the clips are cutout. 😔
hell yea finally
I’d love to know who was under the blobby costume and what they fed him before they sent him out 😂
Dara O'Brien's Nelson Mandela impressions: 12:30, 12:49 and 55:59
the riverdance bit was magnificent.
Mr Blobby. What a tripper!
