I vividly remember. I saw a post on Imgur of a British comedian talking about how beating your wife was like "keying your own car". Then I did a UA-cam search to find out who this Jimmy Carr person was.
I can trace it all back. I was an angry young atheist, saw a debate with Hitchens and Stephen Fry ages ago. So I went after some more Stephen Fry content and found QI. That led me down a rabbit hole of Brit game shows that ended up here.
I do gotta give props to Jimmy. He asked the fortnite kid to explain what it was. No jokes not condescend at all. And gassed him up when he bought his mom a house.
Dara does do well on these, but I was pretty shocked to see how much Maya seemed to be helping him! He hasn't really done enough of these to know for sure but I think he's more of like a Wossy/Brydon/Mitchell/Jupitus/etc... type rather than some kind of Sandi Toksvig-style quiz expert.
this has to be one of the best style of shows ever..... 7 friends talking jokes eating and drinking while playing a quiz game that doesn't even matter LOL (chef kiss)
As an American I love this show so much. I look forward to watching this every year. I want this to be done in the US by American comedians but I don't know if it would work as well.
They have so many of these shows that I love with just their comedians. Like Cats does Countdown, Would I lie, and this. I wish they would do an American version for all, but I can’t really see it with our comedians. It just works so great with their comedians and their styles.
I don't think it would work the same sadly. Not because Americans wouldn't work in this setup, Chelsea Peretti and Kirsten Schaal adapted brilliantly to the format and were great, but American TV just works different.
Make something of your own for godsake lmao, first the office, now this? where does the thieving end for a country allegedly trying to get rid of English influence lmfao
richard ayoade's face when jimmy carr said dara's solidly decent jokes were "the best wrong answers we've ever had" was so good. jimmy how could you possibly say that. how could you forget about satsuma, live wasp, and nightmares
i know it's not an answer but the best line ever from BFQ imo has been and probably always will be "you don't know anything, you were born 20 minutes ago! Your hair's still wet from the fking womb!"
@@memorless No, I disagree. It was David Mitchell admitting to posting turds to the pencil museum, every bank holiday!!!!! EDIT: Other great ones: “Maybe I’m not camp, maybe I’m just having a really long stroke” (Alan Carr), “Has the rohypnol started to wear off” (Rob Brydon), “I have consequently determined that music is shit” (David Mitchell), “A bumming” (Noel Fielding, pretty much every time he appears on BFQOTY), “Bad Dong”/“He produced a broadsword from his anus” (Greg Davis/Richard Ayoade). There’s more, but I’m trying to watch this episode and it’s hard to concentrate.
@@memorless That whole bit is one of my absolute favorites. It's so rare to see Richard at that intensity... and it was absolutely brilliant. I also love that he kept his insults to the men only: even when "unhinged" he's still a respectful gentleman!
Richard laughing and smiling will never NOT feel very odd. It’s like seeing a rare animal species in the wild. You’re both stunned and incredibly happy
I absolutely love how every time Noel and Richard tell Jimmy their team name, Richard stares intently at Jimmy. Like "do you dare challenge us? Because I'm capable of murder."

Love how Jimmy carr is always so great with children and young people. If you can't have kids biologically you should adopt, jimmy! You were made to be an amazing dad!
@@gianlorenzobernini6227 I think that's strictly his comedic style. He makes offensive jokes about everything from Princess Di's death, disabled people, concentration camps, to sex. Inappropriate, but he says himself you can't chose your sense of humour. In general he seems like a decent person to me.
This show is kind of like the Superbowl of Panel Shows. A year of panelling amongst the comedians in their respective groups and the winners go to Big Fat Quiz of the Year
