Brown Mark was the bassist for Prince's The Revolution band of the 80's. You can see Mark's Funk groovin' while playing that bass. I can proudly say I met two people on there and I can't believe they were in the presence of SRV. Wow. This floored me then, still does, what a combination! - Gary
There’s 49 people who gave this a thumbs down; I’d like to think their finger slipped in meaning to press a thumbs up. How can you not like this? This is legendary, never to be repeated in history ever again. Stevie and Stevie, two of the best technical musicians of all time born on different sides of the track, coming together for this was a really beautiful thing. Hits me right in my nostalgia organ.
Stevie had so much respect for Stevie Ray. He heard Stevie Ray's rendition and immediately said, Damn that's good...Stevie Ray was so worried and was so relieved. Anyone who hasn't heard the story behind it should check it out. So many greats that Stevie Ray played with....loved him to death Never gonna be another.
I've never heard Vaughan sing until I saw this video. A coworker of mine was a big fan of his, and now I see why. Awesome! Just awesome! This version kicks arse!!
Jezuz! 4:36 SRV stops it on the One then gets into this pure Funk playing vamp! Dude, Stevie Ray also had the Funk in him! Oh man... too good... I remember that kicking my ass when I first saw it then. I also love the way Stevie Wonder gets possessed by the groove a little before that!
Too cool. Stevie and Stevie. I admire the way that SRV, the only white face in the line-up, can hang with these people, even when they are laying down the funk. Great talent.
@@MatthewSweigart-ft6zt INSINUATING THAT DENOTES RACISM ON YOUR PART, AT NO TIME DID I SAID THAT ONLY BLACK PEOPLE CAN HAVE THAT FEELING, BUT THAT SRV SEEMS TO SING AND PLAY LIKE THE BLACKS} PEOPLE USED TO DO IT. DID YOU REALLY WASTE TIME ON SUCH A STUPID COMMENT?
I found this by accident.... and.... glad I did. SRV really honored those who rose to fame before he did. It was so cool of Stevie Wonder to share the stage with SRV.

Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jody Watley, Salt-N-Pepa and Brown Mark all in one fever dream of a performance. The 1980s is a pretty celebrated decade for music but I don't think people truly give due to just how stacked Stacked STACKED with talent it was... just absolutely overflowing with it from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989.
Stevie who truely is a wonder and probably the best guiarplayer the world has known on the same stage..... no singback, just pure awesome music. Live at its best
This was MTV at it's peak. From '86 thru '90 was, to me, when they finally got it. Up till then, they were still learning and tweaking the product. This period is when artist taylored their music to do well on MTV. So many great programs I remember. Headbangers Ball, the interviews, the weekly countdowns with Martha Quinn & Allen Hunter, Nina Blackwood & JJ Jackson (RIP) Now, Wouldn't piss on it if it were on fire. Once "Yo, MTV Raps" took off, so did I.
I was today’s years old when I found that this Superstition collaboration between the two Stevies existed! Thank you so much for sharing this spectacular event!
Too bad someone didn’t think of this idea years ago. Imagine a Super Bowl halftime show with Stevie Wonder and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They could have alternated songs, then ended with Superstition. Imagine both of their full bands playing this together. That would have been Epic! Oh well, I can still dream about it.
I remembered when they did this, I was thinking what a odd pair? but i watched anyway and i'm sure glad I did!!! Wow, I was amazed then and I'm still amazed to this day!
WOW!!! That was some awsome alchemy. Jody Watley with her no-singing self, still looked good, and had my mouth watering like Niagra Falls. SRV was kicking some serious a.. on that Fender. WOW!!!
1963 (14 years old) in Oz studying for my high school exams listening to rock AM station 2SM and at 8.45pm they would play 4 new tracks each weekday night which you could phone in and have a vote. On came Stevie with Fingertips Part 1 / next Saturday caught the train into the city and ordered the single then waited 2 months for it to arrive. Finally picked it up and played the 45RPM to death over the next few years but I had discovered my life long hero til this day.
"Here, kitty, kitty! Come to Stevie!" I love the fact that the two Stevie's, even though they have completely different backgrounds, different skin colors, and are part of different genres are so fluid together. If these two formed a band, they would have been unstoppable.
Wow you got the great Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Legendary Stevie Wonder, and Princes old bassist Brown Mark together , u know this is a kick ass remake of the original
I can't believe that:
A)This even happened and was recorded.
B)The television showed the greatness.
C)MTV aired it.
It is amazing.
And it needs to be digitally remastered and reintroduced...
I just came across this...dag nabbit...it's awesome!
D) I've never seen it before....
U tube awesome the 2 greats
I cry myself to sleep every night because they didnt form a band called ”Stevie Ray Wonder”
RIGHT???
Stevie Ray Vaughan could own whatever genre he wanted man. He was special.
A TRUE Artist, Stevie Ray Was...!🎸😁.....😢😭🙏
Oh Man I did not realize this ever existed. Two master of the song.
Yes indeed love it
Me too. Definition of jamming
more than two
Remember when MTV actually had good music on the channel. Never will they top this.
you wouldn't think SRV's voice would fit so well with Stevie Wonder's but man this WORKS. Love it.

FUNK IT!!!!
MTV's finest moment...
Without question
Pinnacle!
From your lips, to God's ears
He impressed Stevie Wonder with his own music.
This is unbelievably funky. So good.
This song is in the highest echelon of funk.
Yeah it is
Really miss Vaughan. Not gonna find that kinda guitar or voice ever again. He was taken from us way too soon.
+Marcus Osuna God imagine all the records he would have put out if he was still with us today :/
And You Just KNOW He Misses It...Like We Miss Him!

Maybe They Have Just LOST All Their Hearing...👂👂👂....So SAD For Those Folks!
All those that gave it a thumbs down probably clap on 1 and 3
They probably hit the wrong button using their noses because they had their real thumbs stuck up their asses. It's impossible to not like this tune!!!
Now I have to wonder how many other of these forgotten pieces of musical history MTV/VH1 are sitting on.

Gives me a smile wider than the Mersey. AWESOME. The joy on Stevie Wonder's face makes life worth living!
I'm surprised the universe hasn't exploded from all of the talent in a one mile radius.
