It is like having a great fun time with ones sister upstairs sorting out clothes for an event .You brought all the joy and fun back, I lost her a few years ago and miss these times fashion parades and fun,I really hope you have a wonderful time at "Chelsea.." and my favourite outfit the red jacket and the lovely dress ..lovely! and thank-you for the welcoming nature that you exude always accompanied with the humour and practicality .Best wishes and God speed!!!

That was a hoot! I'd bring a nice sunhat and bung a flower on it, to protect you, if you're going to be walking around judging for hours. I wonder if the King is agonising over what to wear to Chelsea. I can just imagine him saying to Camilla, as he poses in front of a huge gilt mirror - "But Squidgee, I simply must look my best! What if I bump into Georgie Newbury?" Ha! Ha!

Always travel light. I use an Osprey Porter back pack. It's light weight, holds what I need, is very adjustable, and provides symmetrical weight distribution, so no shoulder strain. You look very smart! ** A dear relative, now departed, may she rest in peace, was a flower show judge and master designer for decades in the US and showed me things I thought not possible with flowers. Thank you for sharing your love of flowers and floristry.

Full of wisdom as always. Great choice of outfits, the jacket makes the dress and similarly the patchwork with the jeans. So sensible taking as little as possible. I always over pack, it wasn’t nice when my suitcase didn’t turn up in Lyon and I only had the clothes I stood up in, it remains lost. I think you’ll have a great time, especially judging, and everyone will be charmed by your wit and knowledge, who cares what anyone is wearing!

Yes I like your choice of clothes. Especially the dress, such a good cut. Maybe take a smarter pants or skirt for the prize giving. If I was going I would wear a floral frock and a pretty sunhat. But I will not be going to Chelsea as I live in South Africa. I will watch on TV all week. Enjoy it Georgie.
sadly I only have very untidy clothes or one dress so this will have to do - I never have much time for clothes shopping so tend to wear things till they fall apart x

Love this, you are so practical. Your mended jeans are so stylish and on trend, I know you are very environmentally aware. The finishing touches of the pearls and your hair worn down are perfect. I hope I would dress in a similar way if I were going to Chelsea. P.S. I only use Aqueous cream Georgie, simple and very affordable from the supermarket in huge pots! (Dry skin from being outside all day)

I do love the jacket, the jeans are great, so special that your Mom made the patches (I patch my Jeans too) those blouses suit you it seems to me. Your hair looks nice down. Such great tips and you look very stylish. I’m going to Chelsea Flower Show on Saturday. Never been before going with a friend who’s been wanting to go there for 15 years. Tickets are ridiculously expensive but for me it’ll probably be a once only thing. My hay fever is full but won’t let that put me off. Pearls in case you see the king 👍🏻I’m either going to wear jeans,blouse and white trainers similar to you or if it’s hot a dress with trainers. 👟 I don’t possess a handbag these days but will take a backpack 🎒 very much looking forward to seeing the show and taking inspiration 🌺

The pearl necklace is the icing on the cake. To ease the weight on your shoulders, it's worth investing in one of those bags with wheels.
I was going to suggest that. I have a 16” wheeled underseat bag that I can pack for a week into. Outer pockets for easy access to phone, wallet keys paperwork. Do your research on wheels best suited for the individual surfaces. Even a backpack can be carried easier on shoulder even if not worn as backpack. Worn as backpack can free your hands up.

It only took 35+ years of lugging unworn items back through the airport on the way home to learn 🤣

I have been lucky enough to go to Chelsea 3 times, I loved every second . For me it’s a definite no to trousers / jeans at Chelsea , it’s all about beautiful dresses & hats. It’s just my opinion & people need to do what they are comfortable with. I just like keeping old traditions going.

lol - I wore the dress to the dinner but press day is a bit of a marathon - I got there just after 7am and and was v focused until we left after 2pm so comfort is all - also I only have that one dress so I thought it would be better to wear it to the dinner - I do have a black cotton skirt but a bit funeral I thought for Chelsea x

I love the patches on your jeans. When I was in Uni I accidentally made holes in my jeans with acid. I didn’t know how to patch so I darned the holes with some wool which came with a sweater. Wabi sabi or frugality? I thought good enough.
I love the dress, it’s so crisp and fresh looking. Did you say you might wear it with the red belt? That would be snazzy.
I believe that our clothes are meant to help others to be comfortable around us and you have such savior-faire that it’s mission accomplished in my humble opinion.
