This is far the best version I ever heard from Petrucci. Way better than the studio version and its so rich in emotions...love it. Reminds me of someone
I downloaded this bootleg on limewire early 2000s and had no idea what this was called.. absolutely thrilled to have found it almost 20 years later. It's full of nostalgia. Thank you so much
John used to play this song back in the mid-to-late 90's (A Change of Seasons / Falling into Infinity period ) on Ibanez guitar clinics he did for various stores around the world - I remember having one of those clinics taped by someone in the audience with a handycam. At that time, Lost without you was only in a demo sort of form you hear in this video, later evolving into the tune we all know from his solo album. But this early one is much more soulful, I must admit.
That’s the first version I ever listened from this song, downloaded from Kazaa in the dialed internet days in the early 00’s. Still the best! He played that song live with Derek a couple times during the Awake tour. This version probably comes from one of those due to the tones of guitar and keys.
Man I totally agree on that....There is soo much pain and emotion in this version... ups and downs, depressing to uplifting and back again ..wow what a masterpiece
i cant believe i finally found this version ty so much for uploading it!!!!! it truly is the very best most soulful; version of all!! so raw and so emotive.....wow
I've always wanted to know where this version came from, I would assume from one of the "An evening with Petrucci and Rudess" nights since it's just piano and guitar? Either way it's unreal. The man is a god!
I think other than his tone getting worse on the Octavarium album/tour, in my opinion, his tone/technical ability has always increased with every album. But around the years a little before and during Suspended Animation up through Train of Thought his playing is just fan-freaking-tastic. The most tasteful he's ever been in my eyes. I mean "Live at Budokan" was brilliantly executed. ( I haven't heard the "In the Name of God" solo, and a lot of other things, done as perfect or as fast.)
i can't find its source either.... and omg it's absolutely great... i think he should have recorded it in suspended animation in this format... the studio track is not as good as this version... i think he should record it in this format... he ows it to us fans.... :)
@rhysandrews I know (not 100% sure) that some song in Suspended Animation was written 4 years before the realease of the album, if it can help :) awesome song anyway
Yeah - one thing suffering in a little of the recent DT is the Petrucci awesomeness - he's just not quite what he once was in some ways I feel - and of course Rudess is less than a smidgin of what Moore was - but then the songwriting is getting better and better in some ways - so I love both the newer dt and the older - Black Clouds is my fave album but I think the older sound is just slightly better overall. They didn't do crap like DarkEtNt in 90s but also nothing as :) as Count of Tuscany
it keeps tickling my ear that his guitar is tuned a touch sharp compared to the keys. but yeah, this is some serious tone and not to mention, the SOUL!
This is far the best version I ever heard from Petrucci. Way better than the studio version and its so rich in emotions...love it. Reminds me of someone
I think I know who you mean. Jeff Back
i realize it is kinda off topic but does anyone know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Ibrahim Lionel i watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)

I wish he produced more mellow stuff like t his. He's excellent at creating mood.

I remember listening to this a long time ago. Glad I found it
petrucci is getting more "soulful" with his age. this one owns
3:39 the best feel in the history of john petrucci.. in this life or another..
Man I totally agree on that....There is soo much pain and emotion in this version... ups and downs, depressing to uplifting and back again ..wow what a masterpiece
John Petrucci is a artist and a genius
It's like the guitar is forming blades with sound that are cutting right into your soul. Fucking beautiful.
Gives me chills all over. Those Harmonic changes is like 🤤🤤🤯
Damn, this is immensely intense. It feels as if I'm drowning deep in an ocean of emotions.
This still gives me chills. Absolutely amazing.
The definitively best version. I found it on Caught in a World Wide Web back in 1997 and dubbed it to cassette, where it’s been ever since.
Petrucci, this song is not made for humans. I can NOT survive this song without crying....
His later years with Ibanez were def. his prime years..just listen..wow
it is true though, he was so sick during the liquid tension days, bring back that petrucci
soulful... beautiful. great performance. John is my favorite guitarist all the time
i cant believe i finally found this version ty so much for uploading it!!!!! it truly is the very best most soulful; version of all!! so raw and so emotive.....wow
Amazing... goosebumps galore... John's performance gets inside the skin.
john is really one of the greatest. i can only say "bravo". this version of the song is his best. ciao
My favorite version! ❤️
Love it! Reminds me of Jeff Back sometimes
this was the first version of this song that i heard, even before suspended animation. For years I though that it was a DT song. It's amazing :D :D
Who in the name of earth could dislike this song!!!??
This gives me facegasms just thinking about playing it.
Yes.. simply the epitome of soulful guitar playing... cry with this song
I've always wanted to know where this version came from, I would assume from one of the "An evening with Petrucci and Rudess" nights since it's just piano and guitar? Either way it's unreal. The man is a god!
So beautiful from a true master! Thanks Rhys!
this is the version on my ipod! god how ive been searching for you so!!! this is the best version of this

The best guitarist EVER...Listen him Soulful articulation, melodi , feeling...
Yeah...saw good man. He's the man.
This song makes me cry.
this is the best version of all times!
the best Petrucci. Bravo John.
Never surrender, Petrucci!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
This song is old and appears also on Guitar Takin' bootleg (1996).
Omg! Finally found this version! Thanks for uploading this, I couldn't find this anywhere
so beautiful, i dont think life would b the same if i've never heard it
Wish this version of the song were on Suspended Animation... Or that I could get this entire bootleg! So damn hard to find!
Thanks for uploading this gem ...
One of the best guitarists in the world love the sound of it would be good if we had Brazilians also like
this is the best petrucci feel!
this is why JP is my favorite!
This version is so much better than the album version.
I think it´s more like from 1994-95, this is without a question the Ibanez tone he used to have. A lot less gain on the distorted channel.
Thanks John
just beautiful
so beautiful!
Yeaah! W Petrucci! 😎🤟❤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵
2:16 literally bawled my eyes out.
THE BEST!
The one from the 1995 live in Tokyo bootleg is also amaazing
4 :43 to 4 :53 best part!
i can't find its source either.... and omg it's absolutely great... i think he should have recorded it in suspended animation in this format... the studio track is not as good as this version... i think he should record it in this format... he ows it to us fans.... :)
Hermoso
@Veid
I hear you. FLAC all the way. No more modulation of emotion.
so fuckin miss that ibanez tune, just listen to it...
Can you believe alexi lahio once said Petrucci has no soul.. Clearly he hasn't heard of this beautiful tune
who the fuck is this nobody compared to petrucci? XD
It's me
3:39....Petrucci......have my babies
2:27 amazing ...yes this is ibanez
Godddddddddddddddddddd
damn
What else sounds like this? As far as I know not even Petrucci is able to reproduce this music again. The album version sounds nothing like this.
Sweeeeeeeet...
I think it´s more like the Sherinian piano sound, with a little bit of chorus.
Where the f*ck is the "EPIC" button?
you are god petrucci \m/
wow! saxophone style...
assalam dato megat
wat apa dah mkan ke,,
Do you know saxophone music that is like this or somewhat similar? thanks
@rhysandrews I know (not 100% sure) that some song in Suspended Animation was written 4 years before the realease of the album, if it can help :) awesome song anyway
i want this on FLAC...
I'm looking for a guitar tab for this version but i came down with nothing.
Can anyone help???
This is the Ibanez

He could be mistaken for Jan Akkerman in this song which is a true accomplishment imho.
Anyone knows tone settings?
it keeps tickling my ear that his guitar is tuned a touch sharp compared to the keys. but yeah, this is some serious tone and not to mention, the SOUL!
did jordan played the piano on this one?
@koulion dont you have any ears ? i think god gave u at least one of them. cheers
he is playing in the neck position. The string attack sounds like a musicman guitar (in my opinion)
mauricio mora nope. Its the Ibanez
It's from 10/28/95?
Jordi Amorim Ibanez period
Per chi dice che Petrucci è freddo e inespressivo...
@Sinkaichi lmao
I still need proof this is petrucci's :')
I have a nice relationship, but after this i’m feel like in another breakup.
@donanpaiva1
english fail
this is jazz,,,,
1 person has no soul
This ain't Petrucci!!
