    Ken... any chance you could give us a preview of the tray and the two groups of sprouted seeds in the next six weeks or so....? And then follow that up in 2024 with the planting of the seedlings... thanks...!!

    Fun experiment, Ken, thanks. Can’t wait to see how they germinate, if there is a difference. Thanks.

    I’m so glad y’all posted this video about planting daylily seeds! I got into seed starting last year and quickly became addicted. Any info you can share about my beloved Oakes Daylilies I am all ears 💚😊

      Thanks Donna-- we know a thing or two about daylily addiction; that's how we got started! My grandfather started collecting daylilies and then my father got into them. I followed suit a couple of years later and now my son has entered the business! In a few years, if you keep collecting and growing, you could be just like us!

      I thought we shared the answer somewhere on this thread, but I guess we didn't because I can't find it. Sorry about that. Unfortunately, we forgot about the seeds and none of them made it. We'll try it again in the fall (and try to remember to water them this time!)

    Thank you so much for all the interesting information regarding such beautiful plants. My mom and I love day lilies and all of mine originally came from her and then multiplied. This particular video is really special as there is so much conflicting and confusing information out there regarding growing day lilies from seed.
    I am now a dedicated follower of your awesome channel 🪷🌷🌸. Thank you for keeping it simple and to the point

      Thanks Kim-- we really appreciate your kind words. I love hearing about how you got hooked on daylilies from your Mom. Our business was started by my Papaw, Bill. He hooked my Dad, who hooked me... and my son has recently joined the business, now, too. We've got a video coming out in a couple of weeks showing how we plant daylily seeds. Please stay tuned!

      @@OakesDaylilies I can't find the follow-up video to this one, showing the difference in results between the stratified vs the non-stratified seeds. Can you please help with that?

    I’m wondering how the experiment turned out. Any update?

      Unfortunately we forgot to water them and they did not survive (lack of water will do that, ha ha!) We shot another video this year with the intent to try again. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/jfxTUiSZR28/v-deo.htmlsi=DIaf5k9bYsPjB0yD
      And... so far so good! We have seedlings!! We will shoot another video soon to show how we transfer them to our garden.

    Can't find follow up video pn results of this experiment. Was it a failure?

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies  Місяць тому

      It was... but only because of us. We forgot to water the seeds. We decided to try again this year and shot another video about that. (You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/jfxTUiSZR28/v-deo.htmlsi=DIaf5k9bYsPjB0yD)
      So far that one has been a success! We have seedlings!! We'll shoot another video showing how to transfer them to our garden when they get a bit larger.

      In the above post by Rhonda, Ken says... "We will post an updated video in the spring when we plant the seedlings. Stay tuned!.."
      That all good... but... Why makes us WAIT until spring of 2024 to learn which group of seeds germinated the best...???? Maybe he will do an update sooner if we ask for it... :)
