I’ve still got Andy’s original pocket book guide of Birmingham Balti restaurants, it must be 25-30 years old now.
Chef is a legend
Tell he’s a master of his craft
Great vid 👍
Fantastic to see a balti being cooked! Those flames!! “Balti tornado” 🔥🔥🔥
Well done for having this fella on ...a gem!
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Doing Birmingham Proud, Balti is the best by far 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good place to start a documentary series Matt, good people in brum
one of your best videos Jess and Matt ..love ya
This was brilliant. Really informative on a form of curry I've loved for years in a city I was proud to call home and miss terribly. Hope you do more of these types of video!
I'm drooling! I started cooking 'Indian' in the mid 80s with Pat Chapman's book - still love the food, Balti being my usual go to dish. Mr Dave's in Lye was legendary.
Listening in i the guy hocking a loogy a min before the end. Looks like great food.
Great review very detailed Birmingham stand up
You're suiting the documentary format. Great vid Matt
Shababs is my favourite restaurant on Ladypool Road
Absolutely loved this video, found out a few new things!!
Mat’s face when Andy said caramelisation 😂
Absolutely fantastic review. Very informative. I'm from Dudley which isn't too far from Birmingham so the influence is here too. Shout out to the Balti King. I'm going to order that book also how do I order a couple of those balti pans?
Look up The Birmingham Balti Bowl Co. for the online site to order the balti pans. They also do a wooden stand that the balti sits in as the idea is to eat the curry directly from the balti.
You can also buy the book on the same site.
@@wedmoreblue Thank you
Good words baseman, Stourbridge lad here 🙌🏼 got the two bowl deal ordered
🏴👏 loved the insight in Balti cooking 👏🏴
Gutted that I wasn't aware you were coming to Birmingham. Next time you're down here you need to try the chicken donner from Al Shazans on Stratford Rd in Sparkhill. Then Kurd naan junction which is 1 minute away(Formans road) to try their keema naan and chicken naan(You wont be able to get your head around the prices) and then a 5 minute walk(down Stratford rd) to Hajees to try their Mexican burger
Great watch again, feeling to jump on the train few bevvies and a curry ❤
Quality content in this video top class
Great video. What a knowledge and genuine guy Andy was.
Wow, you finally visited a Birmingham balti restaurant!! Good stuff!
Birmingham is the SECOND CITY!!!!!
Clever man
Have had fantastic baltis in Acocks green and castle Bromwich which are just as good... Tony cuenca

You’re always in good old Brum, you must love the City!
Gotta have a garlic naan with it surely!

Great video Matt
Best in brum 👌🏻👏🏻
Brilliant vlog....I will have to try one!!
…great vid… that food looked absolutely delicious…!!!
Fantastic informative video matt
I’m impressed at how he managed to string out banging on about the difference between a wok and a balti bowl 😂
Used to be a pub on that corner you did the intro, and they would bring your beer to you across the road when you was in shabbab
Got a shababs on the way as I'm watching this 👍
Big up to Brum and the Baltiverse
Top Top quality Food Video
Quality content
brill guys i loved this......i love a good balti 🤩
A taxi driver once told me to ask for a curry from a chef “ APNA” style I think he said
Apna means our. Basically your asking them to cook it for the Pakistani taste buds.
Wow, your voice wasn't ruined here yet!
as a Brummie who has had many baltis at the balti triangle, your only mistake was using a spoon.the naan is the spoon, you dont eat them with a spoon. i do hate seeing batis/curries on a plate being eaten with a knife and fork 😅, to quote NEO from the MATRIX... "There is no spoon"
He Drained The Oil Into That Massive Pot on the Right. Where does he add it from in the beginning!? Just Wondering 🤔
I love my curry's I'm the curry queen not curry i would go for bit mild .love chansi.or south Indian .madrass .but great review
Great video.
I wonder if Al Frash & Adils will ever reopen. Really miss them
Was it a 10/10 matt and jess ??? Looked the rollox 🤪
Unfortunately there aren’t many balti restaurants left particularly in Ladypool Road, most are grill restaurants, burgers etc, younger Asians in brum are getting fed up with eating curries so the demise of restaurants
Thanks Andy you are a true Brum
Balti & Indian cuisine in the U.K. is about as Indian as Spag boll to Italians. Don’t know why, having been in Asia the food is amazing, doesn’t compare to the slop sold in the U.K.
I’ve lived in Asia for over 20 years and been to many countries there and eaten from food stalls to 5 star restaurants and nothing I’ve had in that time tasted as good as the Balti Chicken Saag I had in Adils in 1981.
I’ve lived in England my entire life but grew up with a Pakistani uncle and goat curry… …I started making curry about 20 years ago and made many dishes from Asia (my wonton soup is OP,not just curry) so noticed certain ingredients stuck with specific regions and that was that but I enjoyed them all so combined all I knew into one “super curry” which (ovi with boiled egg/peas 😉) without doubt it’s the best thing I ever eaten in England by far ✌️
Daniel from Rate my takeaway was just here
Audio on the guest is low! You need clip on mics
Love it! More Indian food reviews!
And that was a documentary 😎
If your in Birmingham. Try out a hidden gem called “ Hen Ko” on Stratford road hall green. Their peri grill chicken better than Nando’s. And the pizza are great aswell
Like a wok 😂 u need to get that haaayyyyyy
Top video
If the curry is made without its own base sauce its not the one
Who honked up at the end lol
I thought I heard that as well. In a kitchen too.🤢
Quality
Frank skinner on frc.
Where do you get those balti pots from
Believe he has a website!
It shows you the link in the video! Try watching it!
👍🏾
That's a kadhai, balti is a bucket
Eye lyke Kurrie !
Unreal video
Im struggling. Why are you eating it like its a hot pot. Gets some Nan or rice.
I'm sorry when he used the base in the balti that's cheating
Fuck me my mouth watering deniftly go there
I'm not sure that all Balti bowls should be flat bottomed. Traditionally they are rounded
Not even the same sport ! Birmingham baltis rule!
shababs is vile, the food was way to salty and swimming in gee.
He Did Rattle On A Bit
Drive past it on a Friday Saturday night, all english faces in the place says it all, if Pakistanis ain't dining at a Pakistani joint says it all
Oii Oii
Love watching white people making curry and telling us it's a English dish lol
They mean westernised, they aren't authentic dishes are they?
It wasn’t a British person making it.
He got his Ad in very fast lol 👍🏻
