Thanks for your great comments. I know this may sound too good to be true, but it does work and we have the testing results to prove it. We are not trying to sell you some Gimmick part here. It is no mystery as when RE designed this motor this is probably the design BHP figures they had. For various reasons like most manufactures they have to restrict the motors performance. We have simply gone back to what this part was probably designed like when the motor was on the drawing board. I case you have not guessed the new part is a de restricted (not high performance) cam shaft. We have a lot of experience in making these camshafts for several Euro 4 bikes as the stock cams are severely restricted for several reasons. WHY NOT A BIG BORE KIT ? YES -that would look like the obvious route especially if familiar with the previous generation RE motors. But you would be wrong. We looked hard at the stock and big bore motors data and it is obvious that the motor cannot breathe properly at higher RPM. Look at the many posted dyno runs yourself. After further work we found the lack of breathing was not the normal culprits of air intake and exhaust, or even the EFI tune. But the problem was the camshaft was simply not allowing the motor to breath correctly. Hence we have designed a new camshaft that will keep the low speed torque , but also allows the motor to breath and perform correctly at higher RPM. Why has nobody done this, again several reasons. The main reason being stock cam does not have enough material to simply regrind the base circle to gain any real benefit, as the lift, timing, duration and overlap all needed to be changed. So we had to make a cam from steel billet and do all of the R& D required to make it work. Again due to the cam design this is not as simple as it sounds . Production cams being made now and we hope to have them ready for the end of the year. But like almost everybody in UK manufacturing, our cam maker has a large workload at the moment and working during Covid restrictions has delayed everything. So if you are reading this PLEASE don't ask to pre order or ask when they will be ready. We will get them on our web shop as soon as we can, I promise !
Yes! I guessed cam before I finished watching the video mere minutes after it hit UA-cam. :-) So... Eagerly awaiting more details about the cam, and setup that you used to get to your 20% power increase... And the video, instructions, dyno charts, etc.... In the meantime, over the past few days, I've been seriously considering giving a Booster Plug a try just for the usual reasons of trying to help with the very lean factory fueling tables... and perhaps a slight improvement in drivability (don't really have issues with the way my bike runs now, but too lean isn't good). But, then I learn about the cam... So, now I'm wondering... go ahead and get the BP and add the cam later, or wait for the cam before doing anything... I guess my question is, does the cam require changes to the fueling, and if so, is the BP advised, or would a Power Commander be the ticket? I have no intentions of doing more than my current Delkevic full exhaust, and your cam.... As I ride in dusty conditions often, I plan to stick with the factory style air filter as well. I know that with a BB, filter, exhaust, cam, etc, I'd want/need more control over fueling, timing, etc. But for just my exhaust and your cam, is there any reason for more than the simple plug and play Booster Plug? Thanks for any advice/input on the subject of the Booster Plug.
We all know the situation here in the UK at the moment things are very difficult with covid-19 lockdown etc. How about releasing the Himalayan development vlog🤔 just to keep us all salivating a little. You could always say you're not accepting orders at the moment 😉
The ONLY thing that caused me concern was the highway cruising capabilities of the Himalayan! EVERYTHING ELSE was PERFECT! PLEASE make the engine and "performance mods" videos an URGENT PRIORITY? Why else would the biking community be so eager for a 650cc version? Cheaper power options would make this bike even more desirable!
Very interested, and I think that I’m not alone. 20% increase in power is all the bike needs. I look forward to the next VID on this. Thanks for teasing us. Hope is all we need :-)
This is great for me I’ll be getting the scram in a couple of weeks and I’ll be making most of these changes, I’ll be getting in touch soon then, thanks for taking time to explain the mods
The Himalayan is underpowered for motorways and dual carriageways but it is designed for unpaved roads, so no-one should complain. The power output is perfect for rough surfaces, and the engine is quite torquey bottom and mid-end.
Sadly for USA I sometimes have no choice but to travel on a freeway where the speed limit is 65mph but requires at least 70mph to not get ran over by big rigs trucks. So your choices are road bike, expensive adventure bikes(that suck off-road anyways) and ugly dual-sports.
@@Blux2007 I can see your difficulty. I suppose one answer is to buy one of the other small adventure bikes like the KTM 390, which tend to be a bit faster but are not as good off-road.
Jesus Pete, dude! You tease me with an "inexpensive mod" that will boost power 20%, and then tell me I have to wait until the end of the year for you to debut the video about the product?? BTW, LOVING my Himalayan! Also, LOVING your exhaust for the 650's Hope to get an Interceptor in the spring, and the first thing it's getting is one of your 2 into 1 exhaust systems! Cheers from the US.
Nice video. I went one tooth up on the front and to save buying a new chain, went one down on the back. Will cruise along happily at 80+ (5Krpm) now!! Aftermarket air filter, Lextek exhaust (baffle in) and NGK iridium plug has possibly helped too! I'll be buying some EBC GG pads off you very soon too! Thanks for the good advice!
Hate to ask a dumb question but 80 mph or kph? I assume the latter but since that's only 50mph I hope I'm wrong. I plan to get this bike but im genuinely concerned about highway speed.
Great to hear a new cam will sort this out! Same situation on the 900cc T100 cams then. I fitted a EJK controller on my classic 500 I had laying around and made it a lot nicer to ride, similar to the booster plug. Hope to see the cams out soon!
Awesome video. You are an engineer who knows when it is better to go with existing options and perhaps most importantly, when a backyard mechanic fix is perfectly fine.
I’ve got one, no mods as yet. Had it a year. The stock front pads are dreadful, ordering some EBC ones off here soon. If your not in a hurry the Himalayan is great fun. You have to adapt your riding style and use the torque which is low down in the rev range. it’s no speed machine, but that’s why I got one. You have to really “Ride” it. I think all the mods in this vid are appropriate to just bring the bike up to where it should be and to my mind totally worth the outlay on what is a very cheap, new, motorcycle. The general build quality is OK. I live on Guernsey and pay no VAT so the bike was £3800 new. That’s a bargain!
Have been a Royal Enfield motorcycle owner since 2005. Had riden their old 1981 iron die cast models where the gear and clutch pedals were in opposite positions. (lol..thats another story) Currently riding a 2013 Thunderbird 500. In all these years the only problem which i find RE has, is to give its motorcycles the right amount of power. The Himalayan is a fantastic bike, but i along with many of my friends in India wished it had a little bit more power with compatible torque figure.
Royal Enfield is on a roll. The following models up for launch in the next 12-24 months - Classic Roadster Shotgun Hunter Sherpa Scram Flying Flea and An Electric Motorcyle Hopefully you will work on a few of them once they're launched. Also BSA will be launching its 650cc motorcycle by the end of the year.
Thank's for the video, it's always good to be able to see what people are doing with the Hmmy. I do however need to take issue with your statement about it struggling to keep up with traffic as this is just not true and is misleading. I have owned my Himmy for two years now and never have i struggled to keep up with traffic as it will crack along at 60 all day long and in fact, with the excellent handling and torquey engine is a hoot in the lanes where it will keep up with any traffic doing the legal limit which when all said and done is 60mph. As for overtaking, yes you sometimes need to be a bit canny with that and no, you are not going to get passed on the Himmy in marginal situations where a more powerful machine would do it with ease so, i'll give you that. I regularly cruise the bike at 70+ without any fuss (it may struggle against a v. strong headwind at that though) and will top a genuine 80mph, not bad for a 24.5 bhp. engine. I will say that the Himmy's best speed is in the 50 to 60 mph. range where it is really comfortable to use. As for the stalling issue, yes, there does seem to be something going on there. My bike used to stall but now never does and will start from cold and go straight to idle while i close the workshop doors so, it's not all Himmy's that have the problem. My bike by the way is totally standard and at still has at, 5,000 miles the original plug. As for doing a distance on it well, that's down to the needs, likes, want's of the individual rider isn't it? Granted, it's not a GS (my other bike by the way) but it does very well over distance but, the seat isn't that great i have to say. Last year i took my Himmy the 120 miles to the ABR Adventure Bike Festival, loaded with all my camping gear it was a delight to ride and i took great pleasure in working with the bike to get the best from it. When at the venue i took the Himmy out on one of the TRF's ride out outs where it performed as well as anything else there then i belted it round the 4K off road track 3 times taking in all the "experts" sections ( i binned it big time on one) and it just lapped it up, nothing broke and it took me back home again, no bother :) Didn't mean to bang on, sorry :) The Himmy is a damn fine bike but, i will agree some of the mods. you suggest can and will improve it. Oh. yes, the front brake is shit and i will be putting EBC pads in :) Cheers.
Thanks for your observations and glad we feel the same on most points. It could be that I am used to faster/more powerful bikes. But it is windy and we have lots of hill round here ( loads of wind power plants round here) and up hill into the wind I found it to be a pain, not anymore with the new cam though. I just feel happier on longer trips now. From what I have heard the bikes get better with miles and I am finding that too, as the motor feels very tight when new.
@@georgemilburn6213 hi George, yes, i can see that it could be a tad frustrating if you are in hilly windy country but it's part of the bike's charm in a way, you need to work with it to get the best out of it :) It will get better as it beds in believe me, mine did and i hear the same from others. I have heard there is a new cam out for it but seen no details as yet, do you have any? A performance improvement via a cam change is a better bet than a big bore kit imo as it'll be cheaper and easier to install. The BB kit is far too expensive and, as i hear it, requires a tuning box as well to change the fueling to suit; too much faff for probably not a lot of gain if you ask me plus, the cost, by the time you are done would be over 25% the cost of the bike new! Cheers Tony
Hitchcocks offer a 462cc piston upgrade, will that work with the cam upgrade you offer? Not sure an 20% increase in bhp is enough, that would be about 28bhp, and with other bikes in this range having between 34-43 I would want at lest 34bhp if not 38! I want to be able to cruise all day at 75 and still have power to overtake up to 90 quickly!
I think Sir you should be looking at a 650cc (min) or more likely an 800cc machine instead, just to be realistic about your motoring expectations. Kind regards.
Hi George... I managed to buy a cam.. Happy days... Just wondered what chain you fitted with the new 16 tooth sprocket? Thanks.. Keep up the good work!
Ok guys... here’s the deal. My bike is in France and I go back out there in early December. Hence “around Christmas time” for the 20% booster is simply not good enough. You need to step on the gas please! 🤣 Plus I have the best roads and off road in Europe to test it on! The Alps Maritime. Hence I should get priority.
George, or anybody, do you know if the rims are tubeless compatible? Now everyone is going to come back at me with don't you know you have to have alloy wheels you eejiot? But my Interceptor and the Intercontinental both have spoked rims that are tubeless compatible. So, seal the rims and mount tubeless tires and forget about punctures, more or less.
Hi, I've got a question. The handlebar end mirrors that you mounted on the himalayan. Are the original Enfield mirrors or from a third party? Excuse my bad English. I am an old man from Germany. Glückauf, Oppa Uddo
Can't wait to see your power boosting solution, I've been toying with a Hitchcocks big bore kit but really not a fan of materially changing the engine. I imagine there must be power there with the fuel mix to be gained with it being euro 4/6 & designed for markets with lower quality fuels.
Nice video, like all the mods. Could you clarify/show how you fitted the bar-end mirrors/cuffs in your next update. I have a 2020 Himalayan with M8 inserts in the handles bars. The mirror end caps use M6 bolts. Did you drill the end caps? Thanks.
Hello, constructive video, congrats. Two notes: speed is not an issue to fix, it is reset of social biker's perspective to "enjoy landscape" mode. Second, more practical, wind deflectors are cheap and work on top of windshield. Please do more videos, thanks.
Any idea if/when your USA online store will be selling Himalayan parts? My wife just got one, and I'm seriously considering replacing my 2014 CRF250L with one as I'm wanting more of an adventure bike than a dual sport nowadays.
I am intrigued to know what you have done, I sold my Himalayan recently due to the lack of power. I only took it on the motorway once and that was enough, I do miss it and if you have got the answer to the lack of power then that might be the holy grail for this bike.
I keep bolting more bling onto my Himalayan, lol.... Iooking forward to a few more horses to help me power through the madness and get up that next hill.
Sorry about the sound, (hence part sub titles). The joy of Summer living in the peaceful English countryside with crazy birds, hailstones and chainsaws
So, can anyone comment on the fuel modification needs of a more efficient cam? Being that the cam increases the engine's breathing efficiency quite a bit (more air in), I would assume something must be done to supply the additional fuel as well. So, does the cam necessitate a Power Commander, or the like, with a custom map, or does the MAP sensor compensate and allow the ECU to use a different area of the stock look up tables to supply the requisite fuel to compensate for the additional airflow?
I wonder how much more power would be on the table with a mappable ecu, seeing as most people change the exhaust, downpipe and air filter anyway, with the cam too like Michael says that a substantially more room to breath but with no extra fueling!
Hi, I am considering to buy a motorcycle and Royal Enfield is my first, however I am little confused between classic 350 and Himalayan. I have to take such bikes which I can do in day today life, this is my first bike and can also go on tour. Whose maintenance cost is not too much and mileage is also good.
I've sort of got the feeling the development of the 650cc twins have taken priority and the project camshaft upgrade on the Himalayan has been shelved for whatever reason,. That's probably why TEC Parts aren't giving any replies to potential customer inquires.? Either that or maybe the product has failed on the test bike and they are working on a solution.? It would be nice to know what exactly is happening.!!!
Well it very much looks like Hitchcocks have now beaten Tec Bike Parts to it and have developed and produced their own camshaft, which they now have available to purchase. It's shame really I thought this would have been available from Tec Parts by now, unfortunately however we don't know how soon it will be available or for that matter if ever?, due to not getting any updates to our inquiries over the last 8-months.!!!

FIVE MONTHS AND STILL WAITING! We are just coming out of lockdown into PERFECT bike buying and RIDING weather and this delay means any upgrades we do won't be completed until NEXT YEAR! ....Thanks! Just forget about getting stock levels up and publish your performance results and characteristics! ...THEN just take the orders like a "Hungry Hippo", instead of sitting around WAITING like a wallowing hippo!
Probably. The Booster Plug works by fooling the ECU into thinking the air is cooler than it really is to make the ECU enrichen the fuel/air mixture. That would work in a range of climates, especially with bikes tuned at the factory to comply with India's BS6 emission standards.
I would appreciate more information about the modifications soon, as I want to tell Santa Claus, and this year due to the China Virus he has to have 14 days quarantine after each delivery

@@TECBikeParts Load of bullcrap. we have 2 477 running and they all breathe OK. Lots of extra torque where it counts. who wants high rpm? I want torque at low rpm.
royal enfield decided this would be a bike in process.....they put it in the market and see how it started to fall apart so they could start fixing it. Let's see if in a couple of years it gets to the point where I feel safe buyiing one. It also needs more hp and a liitle bit more torque....the bajaj dominar 400 has more torque and hp and feels better on highways.
The way I see it is, if you need all those modifications to suit your needs you are better off with another options, even with a 25 year old if what you want is mechanical simplicity. Now, if you like the model and more importantly enjoy the DIY, well, excellent then.
I think a lapel mike would make your narration more discernable. It would make your voice stand out over the bird, hail and echoes off the walls. I couldn't understand you many times in this video.
I don't know where it leaves the Himalayan now that the factory has stopped making the 500 engine. In India they dropped the price to $3000 and you can buy one for that at the factory door as international sales have come to a screeching halt over warranty claims. It honestly is not worth the risk of owning an orphan. The 650 will continue.

Any news on this mod? 🤔
Hi George... I managed to buy a cam.. Happy days... Just wondered what chain you fitted with the new 16 tooth sprocket? Thanks.. Keep up the good work!
20 percent increase that is 5 more BHP. Can u share links of the parts you used.
He said , the parts will be ready in December .
camshaft, see post above
Pay attention dude, it's there in his vid.
Ok guys... here’s the deal.
Does the new cam obviate the Booster Plug at low rpm?
I’m looking for the video on the cam etc ... is it gonna be at the end of 2021.. ????
Hi, I've got a question. The handlebar end mirrors that you mounted on the himalayan. Are the original Enfield mirrors or from a third party? Excuse my bad English. I am an old man from Germany.
Glückauf, Oppa Uddo
I’ll see you in December.
Hi there, are you planning on doing similar modifications for the new Euro 5 model?
Interested in changing front sprocket to 16 teeth, but certainly need more power. Intrigued by your designed camshaft. Waiting for updates!
Any news on the upgrade for Himmi ?
Can't wait to see your power boosting solution, I've been toying with a Hitchcocks big bore kit but really not a fan of materially changing the engine. I imagine there must be power there with the fuel mix to be gained with it being euro 4/6 & designed for markets with lower quality fuels.
Will the camshaft be available here in the U.S.?
Nice video, like all the mods. Could you clarify/show how you fitted the bar-end mirrors/cuffs in your next update. I have a 2020 Himalayan with M8 inserts in the handles bars. The mirror end caps use M6 bolts. Did you drill the end caps? Thanks.
Hello, constructive video, congrats. Two notes: speed is not an issue to fix, it is reset of social biker's perspective to "enjoy landscape" mode. Second, more practical, wind deflectors are cheap and work on top of windshield. Please do more videos, thanks.
Just found your vid re performance upgrade of the Himalayan, is there any news on release of this please!
How much for supply and fit ?
We are still waiting for promised upgrade......any news?
Hope you are all well, and come out of lock down soon. But, please give us something (video) to keep our morale. Love from the States.
Good stuff guys!
First time my bike fell over it bent the gear lever. Have you got any further with designing one with a folding tow bar? Can’t see one on the site.
what model bar-end mirrors are you using? Id like to do the same as I have hand gaurds as well.
Any idea if/when your USA online store will be selling Himalayan parts? My wife just got one, and I'm seriously considering replacing my 2014 CRF250L with one as I'm wanting more of an adventure bike than a dual sport nowadays.
Off topic a bit,but any one know where I can get those bar end mirrors from that will fit over my hand guards ? Cheers
I am intrigued to know what you have done, I sold my Himalayan recently due to the lack of power. I only took it on the motorway once and that was enough, I do miss it and if you have got the answer to the lack of power then that might be the holy grail for this bike.
This bike is not made for the highways.. take it for off-road he'll show his capabilities.
Will the new cam work with the latest version of the Himalayan ?
Any word on the camshaft for the Himalayan?
So any update on this cam?
TEC BP, what do you torque the head down to?
Please post dyno numbers of the new cam. 20% should be ~ 30hp. I bet you get another 3-5hp from upping the compression to 10:1.
19:50 what headers are you using?
I keep bolting more bling onto my Himalayan, lol.... Iooking forward to a few more horses to help me power through the madness and get up that next hill.
Sorry about the sound, (hence part sub titles). The joy of Summer living in the peaceful English countryside with crazy birds, hailstones and chainsaws
Loved the subs whenever they got it wrong 🤔 😳😷
Seat concepts makes a seat 1.5 inches taller and with a denser foam for longer rides
At last a bloke who can talk propa im really fancying a himalayan is the next video out or have ah missed it all the best
This Vid has me chomping at the bit! Any news on the mods to the Himalayan? Desperate to know😉
Excellent, thank you. May still buy one.
Hi we got to 30BHP on stock ECU and map, but added a boosterplug to improve throttle response, so no expensive tuner needed.
I took the daft upper front mudguard off, now I can fit a toolroll
Love the goldie-lookin-chain. I’m tired of adjusting the OEM chain. What brand & pitch count? Thanks.
Stock size plus 1 link. Regina gold X ring chain. the side plates are noticeably thicker/stronger looking though.
@@TECBikeParts can you fit the new Regina maintenance free chain on this bike?
Cheers
Do you have a part number for the EBC brake pads? Thanks
when's the "20% more power part" coming out? Thank you.
I got the cam , works good thanks.
Any update please???
Hi would the mod fit a 2021 euro 5 Himalayan ?
...it's almost Christmas... please release the promised FIX ! Thanks
Love my RE. waiting for the Upgrades PLEEEEEEESE. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, would the booster plug work in Australian? Being warmer climate?
Probably. The Booster Plug works by fooling the ECU into thinking
the air is cooler than it really is to make the ECU enrichen the fuel/air
mixture. That would work in a range of climates, especially with bikes
tuned at the factory to comply with India's BS6 emission standards.
Booster Plug works well in hot Korean summer it probably should work well in Australia too.
Thanks a lot! Спасибо!
Love your mirrors and hand guards! Brand?
our universal alloy bar end mirrors, but I machined the stock bar ends so they would work with hand guards too
I would appreciate more information about the modifications soon, as I want to tell Santa Claus, and this year due to the China Virus he has to have 14 days quarantine after each delivery
So? Any news?
Get a 477 engine upgrade and its a perfect bike
YES -that would look like the obvious route especially if familiar with the previous generation RE motors. But you would be wrong. We looked hard at the stock and big bore motors data and it is obvious that the motor cannot breathe properly at higher RPM. Look at the many posted dyno runs yourself. After further work we found the lack of breathing was not the normal culprits of air intake and exhaust. But the problem was the camshaft was simply not allowing the motor to breath correctly. Hence we have designed a new camshaft that will keep the low speed torque , but also allows the motor to breath and perform correctly at higher RPM.
@@TECBikeParts Load of bullcrap. we have 2 477 running and they all breathe OK. Lots of extra torque where it counts. who wants high rpm? I want torque at low rpm.
Still awaiting a video regarding this cam upgrade
Does your new Mod use the Booster plug and air filter or do I bin those?
Yes we still use them
Is it possible for someone to either send you a new Himalayan and have all these mods done or buy a new modded bike from you?
Yes we already have a couple of RE dealers we supply with parts that will be looking at doing this for customers
Nice vid George xden
This is the bike I’m going to buy when we are allowed to be people again.
A supercharged Himalayan!?
It works, but too complex and expensive for the Himalayan.
royal enfield decided this would be a bike in process.....they put it in the market and see how it started to fall apart so they could start fixing it. Let's see if in a couple of years it gets to the point where I feel safe buyiing one. It also needs more hp and a liitle bit more torque....the bajaj dominar 400 has more torque and hp and feels better on highways.
A carb would help a lot. Is it a Mikuni?
These things clearly need a big bore kit, hotter cam, bigger valves, a carb, and lighter performance exhaust.
The cam man i need the cam
We need some good news guys, come on and show us the cam.
Would you ship to Mexico? 😁😎
The way I see it is, if you need all those modifications to suit your needs you are better off with another options, even with a 25 year old if what you want is mechanical simplicity. Now, if you like the model and more importantly enjoy the DIY, well, excellent then.
I think a lapel mike would make your narration more discernable.
It would make your voice stand out over the bird, hail and echoes
off the walls.
Are you talking about Himalayan international sales coming to a screeeching halt? If so then you are badly informed.
Guys, I'm dying waiting. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....
Hello? Hello.....? Still on hold here....
Gag the birds!
I guess it will pushing out around 30 HP? I never understand why these figures are so low.
gone strangely quiet re the new cam!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
