- The Kershaw Cinder Model 1025, a Rick Hinderer designed keychain utility knife with a bottle opener. Does it unseat the Shuffle 2 as the coolest bottle opener for less than $20?

I don't disagree with any part of your review: you did a great job of highlighting the pros and cons of the Cinder. It DOES need to be sharpened rather frequently, and it is certainly not suitable for any serious work. But having said that, I find myself using my Cinder more frequently than any of my other knives. Why? Because I keep it on my key chain, and it is always right there. It is perfect for opening letters, cutting twine, unpacking all of those things that are enclosed in plastic packaging, stripping wire, etc. do I have other knives that would do those tasks better, more easily and faster? Of course! But for those short, simple, 1-2 second tasks, it is usually easier to just flick open the Cinder. And it does make a great bottle opener!
the best knife in the world is the one you can use when its needed - the cinder is ubiquitous - semper fidelis
Love mine. Used it all day as a telecom tech. Bought a fistful and gave them to my friends. A few swipes on the edge of my driver side window and it’s good to go for the day opening boxes/packaging and scoring wire insulation.
Interesting little utility blade, I'd love to pick one up eventually.
This knife is awesome! I think i use this more than my edc knife.. it comes handy..
It's definitely good for your key ring.
great little knife - how can you go wrong - not made to bring down warthogs 🙂
I bought one. I will let you know. I needed a key chain with a bottle opener for my coke. It just happens to have a knife too.
would you say this would last a while for cutting thru box tape and plastic bags? If not, so I can try something else.
+FPS_Machete_[HD] I would look for something else, this knife is a cool bottle opener with a blade, you might look at a Shuffle or Shuffle 2. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Zelrick alright then. Thanks for the reply. And you do the same. have a good one.
Cardboard is bad for every blade which is why a knife that you have to sharpen all the time is the best choice for cardboard. It takes 20 seconds on the victorinox pen sharpener.
I've been looking for a small knife like this for my grandfather. Can you recommend one about the same size that you WOULD buy again.
CRKT Pilar, 58mm Swiss army knife, Spyderco Dragonfly would be my recommendations, with the Dragonfly topping the list.
that beer will taste better in a glass
I put it in a glass right after I turned the camera off. ;-)
And I would pay twice the price for better steel
