    Here's an interesting thought-
    Nadal will be retiring because his body can't keep up, not necessarily because his actual game has dipped.
    Nadal is a tactical genius who will use the entire court and a wide array of shots to get the better of the opponent.
    When his body is fit, even though his foot speed has drastically reduced since his prime, his game still possesses a significant challenge to even the top players, especially on clay.
    Whereas Djokovic will be retiring not because his body can't keep up, but because the opponents have figured out his game.
    Djoko relies on phenomenal defense, precison, consistency, and depth of his groundstrokes.
    Even if there is a slight decline in his foot speed and/or a small drop in his power, the top players will get the better of him. I'm talking of the likes of Sinner, Alcaraz, and even Zverev.

      True!

    • @lowercasehorse2363
      @lowercasehorse2363 13 днів тому +3

      To disregard the impact that age is having on djokovic and say that the cause of djokovic retireing will be people beating him because they can beat his game is in my opinion to say djokovic cannot be the best player of all time because sinner, alcaraz, (zverev?) can beat him consistently in his prime. They couldnt. They havnt figured out his game. Sinners baseline game has gotten better, he has more stamina than djokovic (age) and more power, partially age, mainly imo tactical and less precision imo cus he isnt playing as much as he is old.

    • @serbianbeast1733
      @serbianbeast1733 13 днів тому +7

      @lowercasehorse2363
      You've misinterpreted it. Djokovic is GOAT. There's no debate on that.
      Slight decline in foot speed and power (obviously due to age) will have his closest rivals figuring out his game (as in being actually able to beat him, when in the past it was improbable). Why? Because his game is heavily baseline dependent, and those two parameters (footspeed and power) are two integral elements of the baseline game.
      Federer, Nadal (especially the former) had/have a more all court game. They can transition to net/mid court relatively easier than the Serb, if they're unable to finish points off the baseline.

    • @lowercasehorse2363
      @lowercasehorse2363 12 днів тому +1

      @@serbianbeast1733 ok, to me figuring out means there is an exploitable part of djokovic's game that they have only now found out due to him being old.

    Rublev's emotions are understandable. He does not have the high looping trajectory and not able to play defensive forehands that neutralize the point. He thinks it is the line call that is working against him. On this surface, maybe he should try the RPM Blast and Luxilon hybrid.

    Clearly Nadal has trained a lot on clay the last couple of months. Question is whether he will stay healthy for the whole clay season. If he does, better watch out. Guy will find his rhythm till Roland Garros and will be super dangerous. For the rest of the surfaces I don't see him as contender at 38 primarily because of movement. He still has the shots, but legs will be an issue.

    Nakashima is in a resurgent mode! He reached n.43 after a strong 2022 season, but seemed to lose confidence in 2023, with unforced errors and weak serving making him exit very early from any tournament he played and drop out of the top 100. His backhand has always been a joy to watch and his service games are becoming very hard to break. He was just solid as a rock on clay today against Rublev, who very likely underestimated him and then mentally self-imploded, as he has been doing it too often for the ridiculous amount of skills he has. Hope that Nakashima keeps this level and climbs the rankings back up to where he belongs.

    It's wonderful to see Nadal back on clay after that 2022 RG final some 620 days ago, and even more wonderful to see him playing some very strong points with powerful strokes and exquisite touch. One can't shake the eery feeling each one of Nadal's matches could be his last, so any tennis fan should cherish them as a gift. Cobolli was a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights, and his backhand deserted him, but one can't blame him for his nerves at 21 facing a legend. De Minaur will be a completely different level of test, but if Nadal feels good physically for the entire match anything is possible.

    Rublev needs a therapist. Being a star as a junior doesn’t entitle you to win them all as a, ahem, gentleman, right?... His behaviour on court when things aren’t going his way is nothing short of appalling, especially beings as he’s such a ‘devout’ and pious man when he wins. Unbelievable!
