My mechanic got a P261B code during diagnostic process but couldn't get to right away and quoted me 2 hours worth of labor. By the way, he didn't charge me for the diagnostic. So I bought the pump and paid $305 for the it and around $40 for 2 gallons antifreeze. A friend referred me to his mechanic which quoted me $225 for the job. My total repair cost was $570. There are still good and honest people out there. You just have to be lucky to find them. Word of mouth still work. Also remember to bleed the system to remove air pockets. Maybe this gentleman could possibly update his video and show the process.
Thanks for the video. I found that the air box appendage with its 3 bolts was the only part needing removal before accessing the pump. The longer bolts were certainly tighter than the short bolts and the majority of fluid poured out when I removed the pump. Exactly 1 gallon. Total spent was under $200
Very good video. Well done. I found that a deep well socket with no extension was just the right length to get my ratchet in to take out the pump bolts. An extension + standard socket was a little too long.
You came through with this video! I just replaced my water pump and you saved me a whole lot of money and stress. It was a fun afternoon activity! Keep up the great work!!
Just replaced the pump……the bottom screw was waaaaay easier to take off from under the car after taking off the underbody shroud/shield using a 12mm box ratchet wrench
I am confused about the link to the torque wrench needed (Torque Wrench Range: 25 to 250 Ft. lbs. Socket Drive: 1/2 in. Drive) and the torque required 19 & 15 ft-lbs. at 5:04 and 5:18. What torque wrench did you use?
Awesome video !! Just did the inverter. But now I'm thinking it might be the water pump. Any suggestions. I'm getting a POC73 code. But deleted the other checking engine code
Hi l have 2010 with 142000 mill last week l had hybrid system check on also check engine car was stopped in street after 10 minutes l start everything was Cood l go home today l have check engine on l take car to AutoZone water pump B is not good my question is how many water pump car has it ???? Mine is Japanese imported.there is not enough space to took out water pump. My mechanic lift engine bit up and he replace water pump he took more then 2 hours
It is better to do the under bolt if you see them because the timing cover have the same bolts and this can make mistake and open one of the timing cover bolt 😅

The dealer just charged me $1600 to replace this pump. It should be illegal for Toyota dealers to scam people like this.
Thanks for the video.

Thank you for the great tutorial. I found that taking off the passenger wheel made life way easier when accessing those lower pump bolts.

Does hybrid cars need to bleed valve the air?
Excellent job man. Thanks🤙🏽🤙🏽
Is it the same process for Toyota Prius 2016 model?
Same for prius 2014 plug in?
I’m assuming yes. I have a 14 plug in too and their videos helped me with spark plugs and oil change
Great video !
I hope someone can comment on this for me would this work with a 2014 Prius V
Yeah its the same, I have a 2014 v as well.
How much are these pumps? And what types/models or manufacturers are best for Prius?
Does the car need to be level when draining the coolant? Or can you just jack it up from the front?
prefect video thanks!
Thanks, it was helpful
