This is really helpful. I have never used a mixer before so I definitely have to learn some more basics before I fully understand everything you’re doing in this video, but I know that I’ll still be able to set everything up with this video even before I learn more about how all of this works. Thank you!!!!
The best audio Engineer I've ever had in cyberspace .. thanks a lot that a person like me without much tech knowledge manage to set up MG10XU unit for zoom. Now I have an issue connecting Boya M1 Lav mic, tried with different connectors and just give notice without audio coming out. Much appreciate your advice or perhaps another video, since this setup is very common with online teaching. Thanks
This video seems to be exactly what I am looking for, but for the wrong mixer! I am having similar problems trying to set up a fully hybrid Zoom meeting using a Behringer 1204 USB. I have never had a 100% accurate sound setup, although all components of the mix have worked at one point or another. I am a complete novice to mixing and mixers, so I am somewhat overwhelmed. Do you happen to have a "settings" video for bother Windows and 1204 USB? I am using 2 laptops for the setup, 1 each of Windows 10 / 11. Thank you.
Hello KC, very informative tutorial. I just have one question to set up Zoom meeting; how to set it up the connection so that the participants and the presenter’s voice come thru pa speaker and not the headphones? Thank you
Thanks for the informative video. We have a large ball room with built in speakers and XLR connections for mics and mixers on a wall plate. I want to take advantage of the audio equipment in the room. I'm new at this but I'm trying to connect a ZED10 mixer to a laptop via USB and selecting the mixer codec to route speakers and Shure microphones for a Zoom meeting. Is there a video I can watch that explains how to make the wired connections. Again, thank you
Hey KC, first I want to say your channel provides tremendous value to the community. You all really stand in the gap where many A/V channels are falling short. You deliver excellent quality and explanation with no strings attached. Second, I have a question. I am a “newb.” I purchased a Yamaha mg6 (non fix) to use in my home studio. I record content for my UA-cam channel and want to get into interviewing and live-streaming. I have Streamyard. So my question is this: since I didn’t understand “mix minus” and the importance of having an “aux” on a mixer before purchasing the MG6, what is the best way for me to interview through Streamyard using my MacBook, MG6 and my Shure dynamic mic? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Any other routes besides buying the MG10?
I would like to be able to also output the zoom audio to speakers in the same room. Can I do that without getting feedback? If so, how do I avoid feedback? We plan to feed several microphones into the mixer from other speakers and there will also be an live audience as well as Zoom attendees.
Love your clear and practical explanations Jordan. I would like to know the best way to connect the Yamaha MG10XUI to run a hybrid event. Several Rode wireless mic inputs, the signal then needs to go out both to speakers in the room and to people on Zoom. Also when people on Zoom ask questions I need for that to go to the room speakers for the people in the room to hear the Zoom people. Is it best to use the USB connection for input from computer, or output or best to avoid using USB for this scenario. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, thank you for your video. I have a question,I can connect multi mic in the same time for meting room also I can use the speakers instead of headphones for the room to allow the audience to listen for the zoom meeting? Thanks
Thanks for your tutorials! Very helpful. I teach group fitness classes on zoom and want to get rid of any delays. Is there a way to ensure that there is no audio delays with my mic and music? Also is there a way to hear my voice on a monitor (Kustom Pa)? Right now all I have is my music going through my Monitor as playback and no voice.
I appreciate your tutorials. You’re very good at breaking things down. I just got my Yamaha mg10xu yesterday. I intend to connect it to my MacBook Pro and use it to record the audio for a zoom meeting. I plan to use the two XLR outputs to send the mix to my Tascam recorder. Here are my questions: 1. Will using the setup you outlined in this video send a mix minus back to zoom? That way my guest will only hear my voice on her end? 2. I want to record the zoom usb input from line 9/10 panned to the right and record my mic input on line 1 panned to the left. My goal is to then have two separate tracks for my mic’s audio and my guest’s that way I can’t improve my guest’s sound later since they will be speaking into their computer’s mic. Do you think what the setup I just described will work as I intend it to? Thanks so much for your time and hope you can reply.
It was a Good Explanation to use the Mixer for Zoom through Laptop/Computer. What if we use the Cellphone instead of Laptop/Computer. What additional settings we have to do in the Cellphone. to connect in the Zoom Meet. I have tried many times but couldn't connect in the meet when using the cellphone. But didn't face any problem while using the mixer over Facebook Live or Whatsapp. Please do reply.
Hi, I was watching your Yahama connecting to zoom. It is very clear and helps a lot. However, I am also speaking to a class of 'LIVE' audience using a Mic connected to the same mixer. How should setup my mics? Some zoom participants complained that they cannot hear. What should I do?
Can I program any buttons to press & play/effects whilst I speak.? I. E So I can guide meditations live with sound effects? Also can this be used live and be attached to speakers /Bluetooth so I can do in person sessions ? Im after a gadget that works in streaming, Podcast recording and face to face.. .
Great video and explained well! One question - if the ZOOM call is duplex (having attendees both listen as well as participate), would that Mon/ST button be set how so that there isn't any feedback? We have the MG12XU and quite haven't figured that out.
Hi, thank you for the videos. I have been learning a lot from your channel. I am a singer and planning get a compact usb mixer to use for live streaming. Out of the Yamaha MG06X and Mackie ProFX6V3, which one do you recommend? Also which has a better sounding hall reverb? Also I need to communicate with my audience. Which one offers the best options for that? Thank you for your help!
@4:33 Thank you! I was setting this mixer up with voicemeeter and was getting a feedback loop into discord from this mixer and it was all because of the "Mon/To ST" button being pressed down.
Thanks for the vid! I am having an issue with the mono/stereo button, I am unable to hear the zoom test ringtone unless I have the button pushed down to stereo, is there a reason why I would have this issue?
If hosting a hybrid Zoom/in-person meeting would I connect my powered speakers to the "Monitor Out" instead of the Stereo Out so that the person on zoom doesn't hear themselves? I'm trying to make it so our in-person audience can hear our presenters, Mic 1 & 2, through the speakers in the room and for our Zoom audience to hear them as well without them hearing themselves or creating an echo.
Many thanks for your video. Very easy to follow and well explained. Audio Interface vs mixer? What would you pick for zoom /teams calls and simple podcasting? Thanks
Hi, Jordan. All your Video are very interesting and informative. I always love to watch and try to get some knowledge. In this particular video at the end you mentioned that USB knob red (line 9-10) shouldn't be pressed and leave up. I always keep it pressed. Does it make any difference? Please let me know. Thanks
Hi Kettner can u please explain me how to connect the zoom audio with sound mixer using my own 2 speakers with simple sound mixer? Also how i can utilize my existing mic for zoom meeting?
I have a MG12XU - not a MG10 like the one you are demonstrating from - and because of that, I keep stumbling on the fact that in the line 11-12 where there is the "Line-USB" button, down by the volume level button, I have TWO buttons, one a grey 1-2 and the other, the ST (stereo). If I understand what you are saying when you speak about the one red button beside the sound level that has to be in the UP position in your MG10 for the sound to go to the computer and back into your earphone, I still can't figure out what has to be up in the MG12; is it the 1-2 grey button or the red stereo button. Can you help me figure this out? Thank you so much!
I love your video extremely helpful now for my church we’re using OBS to stream to Facebook but we want to be able to use music for zoom and for Facebook how do we go about it?

Is it possible to use all the effect (reverb, delay..etc) during zoom meeting with this setting? Or can I play acoustic guitar and add some reverb during livestream? Thanks in advance.
Hi, can we use the same system for the hybrid module where the host is using mike to speak and the audience who are in same room is able to listen to the host via speakers and same time audience who joined meeting through Microsoft teams or zoom can also listen to host?
I have the same question! Thinking of doing hybrid zoom meeting but not sure the setup. My thinking is to mic into the mixer and output to speaker. Also there’s a line in from laptop to mixer so online audience can ask interact with people in the meeting room through speaker. Can the mixer reach this plan? Thank you Jorden for the detail video. Your video is the most clear setup and explanation I’ve found! It really answers a lot of questions I have for planning hybrid zoom meeting. Can you explained about hybrid meeting setup? Much appreciated!
Does the Yamaha Mixer output whatever's playing in the mixer? For example, In my MacBook I will play with my MIDI Keyboards Via logic. I will output the macs audio via 3.5mm cable to TRS cable into the Yamaha Mixer. My Microphone will also be plugged into the mic input of the Yamaha Mixer. My headphones are plugged into the Yamaha Mixer as well for real-time monitoring. The Yamaha Mixer is then plugged into my streaming PC which my Zoom is connected to. Will the audio output my audio from the Macbook?
Thanks for explaining the "" to mon/to st" button. I was wounding what that button was for and I was lucky that I use Zoom and other software in half duplex so it didn't loop back.
Hi there, I have a question: With this stuff we do our homework (and I did a lot of times) producing our best audio for “zooming”, but does it worth it? I mean doesn’t zoom always do some audio degradation? Or maybe I’m wrong and all of this work that we do, can be listened (including audio tracks) if that is the case, can you teach us how to achieve it?
I'm thinking of picking one of these up for my online guitar lessons to send vocal mic, guitar and backing track signal into the laptop for a live stream. I've had a couple of students buy cheaper USB mixers however and have experienced only one of us being able to hear the mix i.e we both can't hear the mix at the same time for some reason. So the part about pushing the USB button down for channels 9/10, will that allow the mix to be heard 2 ways? I didn't quite get the the other button being depressed part. Currently I'm having to use a small mixer (without USB connection) into my Focusrite interface to send into the laptop. Then I plug headphones into the interface to hear myself and they can hear what I send too. Not the most orthodox way but its been working for 6 months. But if I can get this and just use one piece of hardware it'd be good.
Could you have this mic connected at the same time to a loudspeaker in an auditorium? I will have to set up a situation like this in a conference... On-site panelists speaking to a live audience and also to a zoom call, where we will have online guests and audience. We are going crazy trying to see how can we do this properly.
Hi KC.. Thanks for the video. I just have few questions regarding online streaming. So we have singers who want to play a karaoke track and they have mics connected to it too. But they are able to hear the track and their voice through their headphones but it's not sending the signal on zoom. They have used the same settings mentioned in the video but I feel there is a routing issue. Hope you can share some light on this. Thanks
Hi Jordan, your tutorials have been so helpful. Just a technical question. In which situation would you want to send the mix back to the computer by pushing the mon/st button? Having the usb coming to the 9/10 channel... or it would always just create a feedback loop?
Great question. It would always create a feedback loop for online streaming/home recording. You would want to use the TO ST if you're playing a Spotify playlist (or iTunes, etc) at a live event over USB and comes out the main speakers (XLR output). Spotify > USB > Stereo Mix > XLR Output > Speakers - It's a totally different workflow compared to home recording.
@@kettnercreative Awesome explanation!! I was wondering about the MON/ST button all this while but now you explained it so well I'm all set :) Thanks Jordan.
Hey Kettner...Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial...I have one question..How to connect this mixer to Android phone for zoom meeting/facebook live ?? I mean what cables do I need for this ?
@@kettnercreative Thanks for replying... I am connecting the mixer with my PC ..thing is..I wanted to add an additional audio input that would come from my android phone...in that case what should I do ?
@@andysvlogging Hello, I use a dual TRS to TPS cable so one end plugs into my phone for the karaoke track and the other two ends I plug into the 5/6 channel. Hope this helps.
@@ManishaParmar Hi Manisha...Thanks a lot for your response....really appreciate it....I am a newbie on this...please do me one more favor....can you please send me the product ( cables) link ?
Thank you very much for your videos. I’m a fitness instructor as well as a drummer in a band. I am awaiting a new iMac and have an old Yamaha mixer that we use for practice. I’m considering purchasing this mixer to teach fitness classes as well as record drums. Would you recommend it or should I get the adapters for our current mixer? Also, do you already have a video explaining set up for fitness instructors? - thanks again! 🤘🏻
Thank you for your comment. I think this mixer would work well. We've used it for plenty of fitness based events in the past. What type of setup video would you like to see?
@@kettnercreative thank you for your reply. I would like to use my wireless mic, play my iPod and connect a powered speaker for my audio instead of using headphones. I’m thinking I will be using ecamm through zoom. Thanks very much.
The line connection is an analog signal and depends on your audio card in the computer for the digital conversion. The USB connection is converted to a digital signal by the Yamaha.
1. Even if I don’t press USB push button I get then audio at other end of the zoom ok second device. 2. Something is working like a microphone. If My microphone is not connected and I move chair the noise of moving chair is received at other end. 3. Where go and control the volume. People at other end keeps comparing that my audio is not audible but I unable to increase in zoom. But the volume in my headphone is increased by phone volume. Is it that my MG10XU has developed a problem?
The AG06 has the loopback function , is that basically what the red stereo/monitor button is doing here? If for example you wanted to play a song over zoom from your computer audio , would you also be able to hear it on your end at the same time?
How can we integrate this setup to pa system (sound system) in hall while still being in online conference call? Or at least out the remote party audio to a speaker while not having feedback loop?
Bro To me you are God sent, I love your videos I have a question though ! I'm a DJ I want to OBS to live stream but also I want to come out from Main speakers , how do I connect to PA system so my idea s also can hear what I'm doing? Thanks man you are awesome
There are a couple different ways you can do it. If you don't need the FX engine, you can use your FX send to go to an audio interface for your live stream and use your main output for your speakers. You could also use your USB output for the live stream and the main output for your speakers. The main stereo output can control the volume of the speakers at a different level from your livestream. So if your mix is the same, this could work as well.
Hi KC, a huge thanks to you for putting this and other content for the community. I do face a minor issue. I run Zoom on Windows PC. I connect 2 mics to XLR on channels 1 & 2; I connect my iPhone/iPad into the 5/6 channel to play karaoke track. and my sounds turns squeaky (heard in my headphones connected to phone on mixer) for few seconds and gets back normal. This repeats for every ~10 minutes or so. Only I can hear this funny sound; others on the zoom call hear my sound perfectly fine. Do you know what could be causing this? What should I look for? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
hey kettnerkreative... is there a chance this would also work with the Yamaha AG03 audio mixer & interface console. I was hoping to buy this so I can do zoom meeting for music with some friends and would this work for the same purpose you are presenting with this type of mixer as well? Is there certain requirement to setting this up? :)
Thanks for this good video. Please what's the best settings if one is doing a Dj set to ZOOM PARTY and have studio monitors to listen to the music. I do input my Dj controller to stereo input. Is it better on the Mic channels?
Thanks for: not doing the like and subscribe at the beginning of the video explaining clearly and concisely having great quality video and sound. I don't know about subscribing, but its a like for now for sure.
i know it is time consuming...but i would like to request if you could make the same video with Yamaha MG12XU. Thanks a lot for your time and help in advance.
In Mg12 XU, what we see in the column under the USB switch is different from what you are showing in the MG10 XU. On the MG12, there is the grey 1-2 button beside the volume slider and the red st button is under the grey one. Is that the equivalent of what you show at 4.25 on the MG 10 XU?
1/2 is referring to your group 1/2. By default I believe the USB will go to headphones. If you also want it to go to your STEREO output, click ST. If you also want it to go to group 1/2, then click that.
I really appreciate you tutorials. This one helped me set up zoom for a client using the same mixer. I was using my IRig but this way is better...Thanks 👍🏾.
Let's say I want to play prerecorded music that is stored on the zoom laptop through to the zoom call without the other callers hearing their voices or creating a feedback loop. Is that possible or should I be playing the prerecorded music from a different source and connect it through a separate line level?
Great explanation, im doing facebook streaming where i send the audio from the stereo output to a streaming app called Switcher studio, i have connected the mic to column 1, a laptop where zoom will be thru USB so i can send the audio from zoom to the streaming using an Ipad, but i havent be able to get the sound i want thru zoom, the audio for the people is watching me in zoom is a bad quality. How can i send good quality audio to zoom as well as send that zoom audio to my stream? also how to hear the people from zoom if all is done with one cable? Im doing music concerts and im going to use zoom to bring people who have similar settings where their audio is good.
Great tutorial. Much of what you're describing is no where to be seen in any of Yahama's docs. I've been using this mixing for my livestreams for months on the Big Fiddle Show, but now see it works for Zoom, too, with the two-way USB.

I used this setup and it generally works fine but ever now and then it will distort and get crackling noise but then it stops, but if I'm recording it screws me up... If I run sound out through a 3.5 mm to a split 1/4 jack it stops however. Do I have something wrong?
@@kettnercreative I'll check, I just bought it a couple weeks ago. But I think the issue is that I had the "To Stereo/To Monitor" button pushed in to run audio to my Zoom H6 through XLR cables. If I leave it up like you mentioned, I can hear sound through headphone jack but no signal to recorder. Then I get feedback in my audio. It goes away if I use usb for microphone, but 3.5 mm jack for line out.

Glad it helped!
Thanks for the link . In my case all the testing works fine . However whenever someone connects cant hear either side . What am I going wrong .
Hi can you used the Yamaha mg12xuk video conferencing?
Can you also plug in speakers to play at the event?
Yes, you can.
Thanks for the tutorial sure, but How about if i wanna add Speaker ? Still it safe and no looping effect? What setting I should use?
Dont use a speaker if ur using condenser bc that will make a feedback
This helpful ❤️ Hi sir how about in iphone?
Hey Kettner...Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial...I have one question..How to connect this mixer to Android phone for zoom meeting/facebook live ?? I mean what cables do I need for this ?
You just need a usb cable to connect to the USBC on your phone.
Can I use that set up with a wireless mics system ?
Is there a difference between using the line connection or the usb connection when it comes to connecting to a computer?
The line connection is an analog signal and depends on your audio card in the computer for the digital conversion. The USB connection is converted to a digital signal by the Yamaha.
Hi great videos always...how abt settings for android phones ..zoom live and streaming through fb..thnks
Exactly
Hey,
Are you able to do a zoom setup using a yahama MG16/4 please?
Yes you can. It's the same steps as this video.
What if I want to play the media through IBS for a LIVE ZOOM STREAMING - Do I need to KEEP the channel 9/10 to Stereo position and USB button pressed?
With the given setup.... How would I setup a controller to DJ using the ZOOM platform?
How can we integrate this setup to pa system (sound system) in hall while still being in online conference call? Or at least out the remote party audio to a speaker while not having feedback loop?
That's something I've been searching for.
@@georgemosier9029 did you happen to find the solution?
Let Say Im playing a song from my pc, but it does not go to zoom, what I'm missing?
thank you
Bro To me you are God sent, I love your videos
I have a question though !
You Bet!. I use the AG06 on Zoom 5-10 times a week.
Have you tried with a multi camera setup like the Atem blackmagic? I'm wondering what would be the zoom output then
Yeah. We use the ATEM and Roland VR50 daily right now. They both work great with zoom.
Can you make a video showing how to connect a mixer to an interface to a laptop using Zoom and show the settings for a live worship band.
Thanks for this good video. Please what's the best settings if one is doing a Dj set to ZOOM PARTY and have studio monitors to listen to the music. I do input my Dj controller to stereo input. Is it better on the Mic channels?
Connect the DJ Controller to one of the line level inputs (5/6 for example). Then set the level where you want it.
Thanks for:
not doing the like and subscribe at the beginning of the video
explaining clearly and concisely
having great quality video and sound.
I don't know about subscribing, but its a like for now for sure.
i know it is time consuming...but i would like to request if you could make the same video with Yamaha MG12XU. Thanks a lot for your time and help in advance.
Hey Sir, can the headphones changed to a speaker ?
You can, but you risk getting feedback if your microphone can "hear" the speaker.
Glad it helped!
Do you know how to run a headphone mix using the MG10XU so you can hear both a track from Garageband as well as a recording mic?
Set your 9/10 channel to USB, and then "To Mon". Then use your headphones plugged into the MG10XU. This will allow you to monitor from Garageband.
Let's say I want to play prerecorded music that is stored on the zoom laptop through to the zoom call without the other callers hearing their voices or creating a feedback loop. Is that possible or should I be playing the prerecorded music from a different source and connect it through a separate line level?
Thank you ! very helpful, can you please extend or show the proper settings inside the ZOOM parameters doing live music?
Sure thing!
Can I use the effects on the mixer for singing on a church zoom meeting? Thanks!
You could if you wanted to
@@ee1yd thanks!
Great video and explanation. Yhe only thing that tangled headphones cable is freaking me out
It happens. We can't all have perfect studios ahha. Thanks for the comment.
how about if we use speaker instead of headph0ne? and use instrument also like guitar. and how to connect mixer to computer?
hi laptop to mixer 2 way communication rite? then how to use studio speaker for hall
Ive got this mixer and I tried to video recording using Iphone while playing guitar but the sound is not recording to the Iphone.
Is it work With ipad?
Yes
One question is there? How can we listen the voice from other side in zoom? Kindly reply
Open the meeting on another device and use headphones.
I have Mg10xu. I wanted to do a set up where I can listen to karaoke music track on headphones and simultaneously the music and the vocal I sing should play on my Amp and speakers connected.
Please guide me if this can happen
It sure can. Where are you at so far with the setup?
@@kettnercreative I have sennheiser mic connected to my Yamaha MG10XU. Headphone connected to the phone Jack of mixer. Laptop connected with USB cable to Mixer for audio in and out. Laptop also connected with stereo cable from channel 7/8 left and right to laptop audio Jack. And finally Yamaha HTR3067 woth NSP40 home theater system connected with MG10XU from Stereo out L and R.
Please guide and advise as I wanted to have a system where I can hear from headphones and sound live via speakers
Good try man ws useful and also we have to download Yamaha Steinberg software for that unless it won't show input or output name MG , u forgot to tell I guess
And thank U for the mg 10xu review bcoz after watching urs I bought one😊
I used this setup and it generally works fine but ever now and then it will distort and get crackling noise but then it stops, but if I'm recording it screws me up... If I run sound out through a 3.5 mm to a split 1/4 jack it stops however. Do I have something wrong?
Do you have the latest drivers installed from Yamaha?
@@kettnercreative I'll check, I just bought it a couple weeks ago. But I think the issue is that I had the "To Stereo/To Monitor" button pushed in to run audio to my Zoom H6 through XLR cables. If I leave it up like you mentioned, I can hear sound through headphone jack but no signal to recorder. Then I get feedback in my audio. It goes away if I use usb for microphone, but 3.5 mm jack for line out.
hello, do you connect the mixer via USB to the mac?
With a USB cable.
thank you
