  • In this video we try Firefin fins again - this time with correct installation! We also compare WOO vs Surfr for jumps, use the Moses 101 hydrofoil mast for the first time, and untangle a Sonic3 on the water. It was a jam packed session - enjoy!
    SPECIAL THANKS TO ANDREW GRINTON FOR VIDEO FOOTAGE!

    I've been watching your videos for a while and I must say your channel has some of the best content about kitesurf out there. It is really about sharing information and enthusiasm about the sport. I love this honest and accessible aprouch instead of the most common "look at me". The sense of community on your spot is definitely a plus, and a role model for all kite surf spots around. Congratulations on your work.

      @@OurKiteLife As a long term flysurfer user (19 years) agree that crashing is a good way to fix those types of tangles - also bouncing the wing tip on the water can help - In lower winds @10 knts - I think a swim is in order though

    Glad you got the fins fixed 🙂. I had to go back to the other video to see what you did before. So when traveling would you leave the stubs on the board? Looks like that would work.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому

      You could for easy set up at your destination. The pads and handle still need to be screwed into the board though so you will have to bring a screw driver regardless

    Hi. Thanks for video. Packed with useful information. The previous Sonic never tangles wing tips like what you experienced. Ozone R1s are prone to it as well. Hopefully FS will address the stability in their next design iteration. In 2021 you would think foil kites can be more robust and never twist or bow like that? Regards.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому +1

      The tangle is almost always due to user error and not really a common occurrence if you know how the kite likes to be flown. The trade off of course is superior performance - but if stability is more important then the Soul is the go to kite :)

    Is the idea of the fins that they're easy to swap? Nobile uses toolless fins and they're really fast and easy to swap, same for straps on their splitboards.

    Now that you've been flying the foil kites more often, do you miss the tube kites when it comes to kites crashing and tangles?

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому +1

      The bigger issue at our spot is the wind dying pretty suddenly, and with a foil kite I can usually get back to shore without it falling from the sky… so it’s worth the occasional tangle :)

    Hello guys. I love your videos, because of your clear analysis and really practical suggestions. I saw that you trained your dog to be a "kite dog". It is really tough to prepare a dog, to sit hanging on a windy beach, while you kite. So, this is a really interesting topic. How did you do it and could you make a video about training your dog for being part of kite life?

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому +1

      We’ll have to get back to you on this as our pup is only 8 months old and we are a long way away from her being a kite dog yet. Honestly I think there’s a few factors - your dog’s personality/energy level, consistent training and having someone on the beach with them. Hopefully we can make a video on it in the future if all goes as planned 😄

    hi, I just got a flysurfer VMG and have been struggling a bit with getting used to foil kites. my two major problems are self landing and relaunching it when it crashes and gets twisted. any advice?
    great video.
    thanks

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому

      Hey, we don’t have any experience with the VMG. From our understanding this is a pure race kite and is not forgiving at all given that it’s a high performance foil. Not sure what to offer for advice. Maybe check out Daniela Moroz’s
      channel - she has a video on the VMG that could be helpful!

      @@OurKiteLife alright thank you so much. but when your soul or sonic gets twisted what do you do?

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому +1

      If the kite is twisted in the bridle you can try backstalling it - this will cause the kite to inflate and that can help untangle. Otherwise, in the case of a more severe tangle, you can crash the kite on the water as I did in this video. Doesn’t always work but those have been effective for us. Soul is much less likely to get tangled.

    I've been your avid follower for a long time and recently got myself a foil kite, but I got no clue how to handle some of situations that I've encountered with a tube kite a million times.
    Could you perhaps do a video on how to properly handle your foil kite while it's full of water (self rescue) and you are trying to swim to the beach - or - how to prevent water getting inside at all while self rescuing?
    (Or just maybe write some ideas, suggestions and tips here in comments, it would help out all the noobs like me a lot!) :) :D

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! So one way to avoid your foil kite taking on too much water is to self rescue quickly - which is easier said than done sometimes if you think there’s hope to relaunch :) When I self rescue, I wrap the lines, get to the kite, take one tip and place it on top of the other and open the deflate. I’ll then roll up the kite the best I can so that I can swim with it and not take on additional water. Keeping the deflate above the water while you do this will help avoid taking on water as you pack. We made a video on this that may be helpful. Of course certain conditions (waves) are harder to self rescue in. Also, if you have an older foil kite it may take on water faster.
