  • Don starts another quilting project. This time, he's tackling a pattern that involves templates and netting. Can you say Scan N Cut? This is the kick-off episode. Enjoy!

I love the chamges you've chosen to make and your fabric choices. Looking forward to seeing the end result!

Me too! I've been doing some more testing, and I think I need to switch the black netting for black organza. The netting shrinks with too much iron heat and causes the underlying fabric to pucker. Stay tuned!

Wow! What a project for sure. I’ve never heard of the black netting in a quilt so this will be fun to learn something new. I should have guessed you would have picked a 3D design. 😝 I definitely like your colors better already.
Congrats to Miss Carolyn and the quilt guild. That’s so awesome. And your membership position as well Mr. D…have a stupendous weekend guys. 🤗🤗

Yes, I think the quilting guild is going to be in great hands with Carolyn at the helm. She is definitely not short on ideas and does like to make things happen. For me, I still have some work to do on my sewing technique, and in fact, I need to tweak the new presser foot for the 99K. It is a bit temperamental and I think I might have to modify its height. In any case, more to follow!

Hello Don. This will be a very interesting project. You always manage to think outside the box. I am in a collaboration with 3 other quilters and I am having my quilting horizon expanded for sure. It's been fun so far and we have not even officially started yet! I will come back and check on your channel again to see your journey for this Bursting Forth quilt.

Thanks Kelly! I'm still debating whether or not to leave this as a hexagon, or to pad it into a rectangle. The former would leave it as a wall hanging, and the latter would add utility. I haven't decided yet, but we'll see.

Greetings from Atlantic Canada! Nice to see another beer lover / quilter, I do love the red and brown ales... and occasionally a stout. I'm currently working on a Flowering Snowball quilt as a wedding gift.

Hi right back at ya! Maybe quilting and beer do go together!! I just had my share of stouts last week on St. Paddy's day. Yes, considerable Guinness was consumed. Good luck on the Flowering Snowball quilt and maybe you can show it off!

Thank you for introducing this pattern. I am attracted to the shape. I am wondering where you found the beer. I developed a taste for dark beers while living in Germany. I use it in my cooking as well.

Yes, indeed, the shape is one of the reasons I picked the pattern! Regarding the beer, we have a great selection of imported beer at our local beer & liquor store. They have many many dark beers too, both imported and from local craft breweries. Yum!
