You're a goddamn hero for making this video for even just the frame extension tip.
I wish there were more features for batch frame changes, adjustment layers, and "add frame before" quick button, a close gap option or even just a way to move multiple frames that aren't grouped. I get that it's early in release and that they've been working HARD on this all the way up to release. But damn.
Thanks again for all your videos!

@Imagine100-kw7hn I don’t think you can 3d animate in adobe animate, as all i have seen it do is 2d animation. But what a lot of animators do in a limited 2d software is that they put shadows, ridges, etc. to make their animation to have a 3d feel.so if you are stuck, you could always do that! I’m sure you could find lots of examples on UA-cam!

This is a small detail that might help someone (and I was expecting you to mention it when you did the one finger + pen slide on the timeline):
    - Finger press while in drawing mode activates de color picker.
    - Finger press while moving objects activates snapping (also and specially interesting while adjusting anchor point).

All these people moaning about Dreams being a disappointment!! Do t you recall when procreate first came out? I’ve been using it from day one. They made SO many upgrades and amazing new things over time. I think dreams used well with procreate is actually really really cool!! I can’t wait to see what the next upgrade is also like. I also love that this animation software is user friendly, unlike some of the more complex ones.

Re: Flipbook - One thing I've noticed that I haven't heard other's talk about (but haven't watched all of the videos about it and I doubt I'm the only one to notice) but In flipbook mode, you don't need to click the "+" to move to the next frame. Dreams automatically adds a blank slide to the right, so just click that. The plus is only necessary for inserting additional frames between already existing ones. I only mention this because the few tuts I've seen all say that clicking the "+" is how you add the next frame
This just makes using flipbook mode a TON quicker

also so happy to learn how you can add extra frames by selecting the edge and then dragging with your finger. I did need practising on how to properly select the edge of a frame. it kept selecting the entire image or the menu kept popping up. (at one point I tried to to select the edge with my fingers instead of the pen, which is also possible, but then if i tried to drag with my other finger it started undoing things :o I would not recommend that!).
the trick is: you just really have to click close to the edge!
don't know if this is mentioned somewhere already, but if you add frames on a layer that is in a group, the length of the group does not automatically adjust. your drawings are still there, you just have to stretch out the group layer to show them.
thanks so much for the tutorials and tips Alex!!!
and thanks Procreate Team for the great app that will only get better and better :D

In ibis paint x we can copy an image and paste it everywhere we want. That tool is very essential, i think. If we draw a circle and want the same in the next frame, we don't need to draw again. Just copy and paste it. It can be edited later.

Awesome video Alex !! Have a quick question .. I Tried using the sequential images export without background, and used it again in dreams , it seems to work , for less than 100 images , for more I have to import them in batches of 20 or 10.. again when they come into the track they are all on 3s or 4s and have to batch squeeze then into single frames. I managed to squeeze the 1st batch of around 20 frames by selecting the batch by drawing the usual flaming line over then all and holding one finger on edge of a frame and pushing the other end of the frame with other finger , BUT it doesn’t seem to work again 😅the other bunch seems to sqeeze into single frames but with a space between all the frames .. then it’s a headache deleting those spaces and getting them all lined up together as single frames .. GOSH sorry if I’ve confused you 😅I’m still trying to find a way to get the whole sequence export to fit back into dreams ..why ? Mainly because the number of tracks gets reduced a lot and I can add other effects to main action.. and than avoid that message which says “unable to render animation etc “

Ah wow, yeh I've never tried to import such a long sequence. It sounds like you've tried all the tricks I would have tried.
Does it work differently if you create a new track for the second and third batch? You may have noticed that dreams tries to evenly space out each drawing across the timeline. The only time it doesnt do that is when you have a timeline that can't fit all the frames on it. In that case it automatically sets the frame length to one and lets them go beyond the end of the timeline. If you import them all to a shorter project and then change your project to the correct length you can skip the step of retiming them.
It sounds like a glitch to me. Its worth contacting support so they can have it on their radar.

@@AlexGriggAnimation yep that’s the thing I did finally , so it turns out that it’s easy to squeeze the frames on 3s or 4s into single frames , if I select the whole batch and without grouping etc , I hold right finger on right corner of one of the frames and after that hold down the other end ( of same frame ) and here the thing , I must only shift/slide/skid the right finger to the left, and walla the whole long batch shrinks to single frames and all glued to each other just as it came in! After that just select all and group. Do the same with the next bunchetc and keep them all on a track. These are like baked goods , with nothing more to do on them. And around this main action , above and below all kinds of magic can be added … the one thing that I can’t make sense of is the message which pops up often saying ‘ can’t render this animation , check highlighted tracks ‘ and I don’t see any highlights on any layers either

Thank you for sharing this, I am diving into procreate dreams first time. But I expected to have an option to record the drawing (like drawing a frame/caligraphy and recording the trace of the pencil) . Is this possible?

That would be a cool feature! I don't think dreams can do that at the moment.

Hey Alex! Is there a way of applying a flat colour to the timeline/layer below the line work? As in a quick fill instead of manually painting inside the shape

I duplicate the line work track and fill that :)

@@mikeshinoda703 no probs! I presume in the future we'll be able to use reference layers and rearrange layers in the drawing mode which will be a more streamlined way to do things
