I watch your channel even though I CANNOT sew. 😂 But I am a knitter, crocheter, stained glass artist, and, just recently, embroidery is a new hobby. I love when my crafts not only keep my hands busy but I can be proud to see the thing I can create. Love the podcast and the sweaters you’ve done so far! Look forward to hopefully seeing more.
Hooray! I loved this knitting-focused episode. I do a lot of sewing/knitting/quilting/baking/gardening, and it's nice to hear about how other people express themselves through all of their hobbies. So excited to see the red sweater you're working on as it develops. I think it'll be really cute!
Hello hello! So glad you enjoyed it. I also relate to the feeling of kind of favouring one craft at any given time. They all give such different things!
Just discovered your channel. Loved the knitting. I too do a lot of sewing and knitting and crochet so great to see another knitting channel. Omg I sympathise with your bird incident how gross for you and thank the lord it did not touch your hair. Love your knits, waiting for the next episode. :)
Love your makes! I live where we don't get many cold days but a sweater on one of those days would be nice. I like to dabble in lots of different arts. Learning new crafts is great.
I really loved this, even though I usually turn up for your great sewing content. But Steph, I really wish you had said something about the missing ball of yarn for your blue jumper. I live in France and would very happily have sent you a ball in appreciation of how much I enjoy your videos. I knitted voraciously for years but now mostly sew. However, I am a bit of a craft junkie. Over the years I have done different crafts: chainmaille jewellery, beadweaving, silversmithing, paper crafts and a long spell of basket-making. I just need to be making something. For Christmas gifts, I love knitting cowls. Small projects where you can splurge on expensive yarns and there are so many amazing patterns to choose from.
Yes! I do enjoy hearing about your knitting, thank you for this video. I love knitting and sewing and the UA-cam community around them. One thing I’ve been noticing that I think is funny, though, is this habit of knitting oversized sweaters (which I love) and sewing close-fitting garments. This is silly for all of us! It takes so much longer to KNIT more stitches, while it would take the same amount of time to SEW an oversized garment! Right? 😅
It’s worth noting that My Favorite Things Knitwear is very known for very uninclusive size ranges (although I believe she has improved in that regard). The general standard I see for size inclusivity in the knitting community is 9 individual sizes. Lots of older patterns might have been classed as size inclusive with 7 sizes. Three sizes really isn’t it though! As for crafts, I’m a long time knitter. I’ve recently learned how to crochet (sort of) and have finally bit the bullet on learning how to sew. The lists of crafts I want to pick up is *very* long
Thank you for sharing this! I agree- it's really surprising to me that a designer as big as MFTK still has patterns up with such limited sizes, esp when the designs themselves are often pretty straightforward. Useful to have that reference point for size range. Pleased you are joining the sewing world- you will love it! Let me know if you ever have questions or want recommendations 💕
@@StephSewn thank you! I am beginning with trousers, because i thrive in the deep end 😅 but truly, you had a video that mentioned your favourite jeans pattern that really opened my eyes to the fact that a person can just make a pair of jeans! It was very inspirational :) I won’t be starting there, but maybe one day I’ll make it to that point🤞🏾
So so enjoy your informative and interesting style of content but with my favourite thing in the whole world, knitting, as the subject. I used to exclusively sew, but as a way to modify clothes more than to make them. However I'm currently in a year long fixation on knitting. I'm not too fussed though, I know sewing will be there when I'm ready to do it more consistently again - and I still aspire to make things from scratch when I do!
Thanks for showing your knitting projects! Very inspiring 🙂 I think the Blouse no.2 might be in my plans for next spring... I knit and sew (and crochet sometimes), so 'combination channels' are great for me 😄
I am so pleased to hear this! The blouse no 2 is really fun, just avoid birds while you work on it. I am also glad you like the combo channels, as the algo is reallllly punishing me for stepping out of my niche on this video 🤣
I would love to see more knitting content from you! Like you, I'm a dabbler. My main loves are sewing and knitting, but just about any craft interests me.
I was so horrified by the bird incident - sacre bleu indeed! It was fun to see some knitting here too - and with bright colours. I am relatively new to knitting youtubers, and while I admire a lot of it, the popular pale greys, beiges and putty colours just are not something I want, even though they might work well with my pink Nordic face. I dabble with sewing clothes and am learning about sashiko and visible mending, but paper crafts and mixed media are my big loves.
Loved this video. I sew and have recently returned to knitting. Mostly because there are now some great independent designers which makes the patterns more on trend. Also going c Back to cross stitch.
What a horrible experience at the French railway station! However I think it was good luck that you were knitting with a cotton yarn. If you'd been using an animal fibre like wool, alpaca or mohair, it would have been much harder to give the knitting a vigorous wash without spoiling it. My own knitting preferences are for something a bit more fitted and I tend to use DK or something finer. I don't like using needles thicker than 4.5 mm as they feel like tree trunks to me. Also I find cardigans are very useful, especially to wear over dresses. I'm 73 and have been knitting (and sewing) since I was a child and I do think that the development of the online knitting community has made crafts of all kinds far more exciting.
Oh, that first deep teal sweater is such a rich color! And I love the lace WIP and all these projects. This is a fascinating video!
Yaaay glad you liked it. Hope I can get as good as Grammy someday 💓
I learned how to sew as a child. I enjoyed it. I now am a knitter but I do have my sewing machine.
That's lovely! Anything you're currently working on? Love to see another Stephanie 💕

I enjoyed this video! I love the fact that your mother and grandmother taught you the craft so early. I look forward to seeing more🌞
Hello Steph! Love this video. I'm a multi crafter in spirit, but for the moment, I mostly knit.
Hello hello! So glad you enjoyed it. I also relate to the feeling of kind of favouring one craft at any given time. They all give such different things!
Well done! I love to knit and crochet but I also enjoy cross stitching too. I hope to get into sewing as well as quilting.

Great to get some knitting project insight!
Really enjoyed this video. Your expectations for sizing are not wrong for knitting. Crafts - knit, crochet, sew, spin, and weave.
WOW- I'm so impressed with that list of crafts! Love the idea of spinning yarn and then using it for a garment project or weaving

@@StephSewn Yey!

Yay, another colour lover! So cool that you've done paper crafts and sashiko. I've never tried either, but am always tempted.

Wonderful! I've never really done any cross stitch, but I think it's so pretty
Yay, knitting content! Maybe it's just me, but the background music is a bit distracting. Love your channel!
Sorry about that! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️

Agree- I truly don't know what I'd have done if it had happened on a wool sweater. I've never knit a cardigan before, but I'm hoping to try soon!
Sacre bleu! 😂
