Had It done to my Z1000 2009 by Dominic this morning and what a difference it made, feels more settled on the road and roundabouts, jesus it's like i'm on rails and so smooth into the corners. worth every penny, cheers domonic.
I highly recommend that anyone on a Z1000 (07/09) does this to their bike, the transformation is incredible. Th ebike is set up for a 68kg rider from the factory, the further you are away from this weight the worse the bike will handle, it makes handling, cornering etc much better, increases confidence too
awesome help guys, just bought new z and trying to get it dialled in for my weight, good hints on where to start, only help still needed is what i can do with the front compression adjustment and what effects i'll get, trial and error should get me through, cheers!
So the perfect setup for this bike is 30mm front and 12-14mm rear sag. Rebound damping in mid range for both rear and front. Correct me if i'm wrong. I'm planning to do it my Z too cause i weight about 80kg, and stock setup is for 68 kg rider. Should i lift the bike to take the measurement of suspension fully extended?
Of course, for front and rear. Setting sag up should be the first thing when you buy the bike. If the springs are too soft/hard for your weight, you need to change them before or otherwise you can't get proper sag and riding is gonna be pain in the ass. For street riding front should be somewhere in the 32-35mm range and rear 28-32mm. I ride track too and I have 35mm front and 30mm rear with full gear. Compression and rebound are very important also and needs to be matched equally.
Hello I have 2008 z1000 I am 6ft (182cm) tall and weigh 265lbs (120kg) I noticed that when leaning and taking turns at high speeds the rear tire/suspension wobbles? Does tuning the suspension help eliminate the rear tire wobble? I have new Michelin tire installed.
Some, I have adjusted To reduce the skipping in turns increase your wheelbase from 55.9-56.9inches and move steering head forward 10mm, then you will have to fiddle with Reload and rebound settings. I am watching this video to get that part figured out. I weigh about 175lbs so. Also, Make sure you are keeping your body in line with the bike during heavy corner leans, the upright position of streetfighter can make people use to full tuck sit up some and fight the lean which makes the rear skip more. But seat height is 100mm Higher than say a 2012 CBR 1000R, can be changed via lowering links. But Honestly, Wheelbase, steering head forward & a suspension tune that these guys offer should do it. I have a 2007 Kawasaki Z1000 With so many mods, and we are experiencing the same issue. I have an upcoming install of a DynoJet PW3 Galfer Brakeline kits & Brakes. I plan to fix the ride and suspension at same time. Let u know how she rips tuned into my weight fully modded. She has 6597 original miles. Puig rear tire Hugger, windscreen, Full Exhaust, Mivecc headers, Yoshimura headers back dual carbon-ti Exhaust, Aftermarket intake, Yana Shiki Blade Clutch & Brake Lever, Driven Racing D3 handgrips and bar ends, aftermarket Mirrors, 1 off engine/crankcase covers, custom center bar tree, custom swing arm license plate mount, rear blinker delete kit(all integrated in tail). Hi, I have z1000 2008. When riding alone i feel uncomfortable. I feel like hard rebound both rear and front shock. I think it is too hard for me. How could i adjust to soften the shocks for more comfortable like z900 suspension?
The video says to take the second measurement with the "weight of the bike sitting on itself." I understand that doesn't say if the rider should or should not be on the bike, but maybe the optimum 30mm is for no rider. The optimum would be different depending on the rider weight.
Yep, you need to be sitting on the bike in your normal riding position (so you need someone to balance the bike while you are on it as well as someone to measure). Good luck!

I have tried this and it is impossible! my front fork sag was 12mm which means i`d have to turn the adjuster out 18 times to get to 30mm.But the adjuster only turns 14 times from full in to full out! Totally confused!

Means your springs are too stiff for your weight. Get softer springs.
Now if you ride on british road all you need to worry about is all the potholes.
