Born and raised in SD and i have a funny story about Coronado. When my brother and i were 8 and 9, we went to the hotel area walking around and we came across a limo. My dad said “go stand by it and I’ll take your picture” we reluctantly did and when we were done, the celebrity who’s limo it was got in it. I remember being so embarrassed! (I’m 45 now and still remember it like it was yesterday) 😂. The celebrity was Huey Lewis and he was very sweet about the whole thing.
San Diego native here. So fun to see others enjoying the city I grew up exploring. Next time you get to San Diego make sure La Jolla Cove is one of your stops. It’s so beautiful!
This one made my night. I lived there 11 years ago and this brought back so many happy memories. I’d say what y’all chose were great choices. I can think of so much more you can enjoy for later. That means you’ll have to go back many more times.
If you happen to be in San Diego again around Christmas time, go to the Hotel Del and check out their tree. Something I did back when I lived there ages ago. Great vid, thanks for taking me back.
Loved the vlog, looked a great place to visit and some cool snippets of the classic cars, needless to say the food had my mouth watering, thanks I thoroughly enjoyed watching.
So glad to see you went to Coronado! My hometown! I didn't know how good I had it living there, walking to the beach every day! Now, living in New Mexico, I prefer the mountains.
My daughter and i toured Old Town and decided on Cafe Coyote for dinner too. It did NOT disappoint. This was in Octover 2018. My daughter STILL talks about the fish tacos she had there.
We visited California for the first time in March and to us it feels like you are in a movie the entire time. Most of our time was in LA / Long Beach but we did drive down to San Diego for an afternoon trip to the zoo. Had planned to spend the whole day but our cruise was late getting back into port. The beachy area you were at reminded me of Santa Monica. Glad things began to look up with the trip. 👍
I saw that one of the restaurants had Birria tacos. If you have not tried these they are so good! The meat has usually been cooked down and marinated in a sauce. Then a tortilla is dipped in the liquid (sauce) and put in a skillet. They add the meat, cheese, onion, cilantro and grilled in a skillet like a quesadilla.
It may be expensive to live in California but you get what you pay for...mountains on one side , ocean on the other and desert three hrs away...glad to see you guys enjoying ole Towne San Diego...all the food looked delicious ❤❤...
So glad you enjoyed San Diego even though yourtime was shorter the day looked great we love San Diego especially Coronado. Next time go to Little Italy! Looking forward to your next cruise and what you thought of the small town of Astoria!! You made our day!!! Love ya guys hope one day our paths cross again hopefully on a cruise Just Ramblin Around!!
Oh, guys! You missed out on Balboa Park!! So many great little museums and gardens! Very similar to Seattle Center for a very nice collection of attractions in one really nice central place (not surprisingly both were hosts to Worlds Fairs! Ours was just in 1915!)..I’ve been blessed to have lived here since 1991 and have Never regretted it!
I am a San Diego native and love watching all of your videos! I never miss one! My husband and I recently sailed on the NCL Jewel to Mexico and had a blast! It would have been so awesome to run into you both as we live 3 blocks from South Beach in Ocean Beach!
Glad you had a great San Diego experience on your return there. Wasn't their trolley tour informative? Hope you'll be able to go back and do the Duck Tour (Sea and Land) as it offers SO MUCH history! Enjoyed your Coronado segment ( we only saw from trolley). Also liked the aerial shots. Your dinner segment presented the perfect (ocean sunset) background as you enjoyed your yummy supper! Cruisers are advised to add pre or post days when cruising from San Diego because its such a great city and has so much to offer! Thanks for sharing!
We got to San Diego once a year and Cafe Coyote is our first stop for food! Has great memories for us! Next time you're in San Diego, you should take a drive up to Mount Soledad. It's on the way to La Jolla. Look for the Cross on the top of the hill. Beautiful 360 degree views and a beautiful memorial to our terrific veterans.
Back when I stayed at Hotel Del, I did stay in one of those old rooms in the original building. No air conditioning. The erosion of that beach is very sad. Where they filmed beach scenes in SOME LIKE IT HOT, is now in the ocean. Really enjoyed the aerial footage. Thank you!
Love San Diego and coronado island. My Dad was a Marine and that’s where he went to basic training. We have family that lives in San Diego as well. Lots of history stuff there too. Old Town is the best for Mexican food. Balboa park is neat too. Thanks for sharing! ❤
The weather is to cool for me there I was there in August and I ask how do you enjoy the ocean with outside a wet suite for any real time.Maybe I’m just acclimated to our subtropical weather here in Florida.
I loved everything about this video. Moved out of the SD area almost 3 years ago. I really do miss it. Especially the Mexican food!!! (Lots I don’t miss too. Lol)
I live in south Orange County but I grew up going to San Diego all the time, this brings back so many memories! Coyote Cafe is great and I also suggest the Old Town Mexican Cafe and Miguel’s! 😊
IF you do Old Town again you need to do Casa De Pico. The best. Grew up in San Diego. They have singers and make fresh tortillas in front of you. Get the carne asada platter.
As I'm watching you go over the Coronado Bridge...I'm doing the Navy Bay Bridge Run in a couple of weeks. We'll start in the Gaslamp District of San Diego, then go through Barrio Logan before running across the Bridge. Its a 4 mile run. So Much fun!
It's so strange seeing San Diego. I haven't been in over twenty years now. Never really explored it to the extent I always wanted to because I was usually down there for something specific and not really on a vacation to explore it. Now get ready to gasp. I was born, raised and still live in Southern California and I've yet to have a fish taco. Just can't do it. LOL But I'm not that big on fish anyway.
I’ve lived in San Diego my whole life (I’m 29)! Old Town is where you go for touristy Mexican food lol. It’s not bad. But definitely not the best Mexican food I’ve had in San Diego. If you want a great fish taco you have to check out Blue Water by the airport. And for burgers, every San Diegan knows about Hodads in OB. Also If you come back and it’s still baseball season you have to check out a game at Petco Park. We’ve got the best rated ballpark 😊 You can take the trolley!
Question. You said that you've never been to San Diego. You guys never went when your son was stationed in Oceanside? Looks like y'all had a great day. San Diego is absolutely beautiful.
Cali used to be so great years and years ago when I lived there. I miss the Mexican food, the ocean and sand dunes but am so glad to be out of that state. Politicians have ruined a once beautiful state.

Thanks for saying nice things about CA❤
Haha the lady behind Jason at the fish taco place 😂. Listen to her conversation 😅
I ❤ living in San Diego. There’s always something to do!

You are right here in San Diego! So happy to see you guys enjoying my city! ❤
It's been a long time since we were last in San Diego. We both have enjoyed our visits there.
If you happen to be in San Diego again around Christmas time, go to the Hotel Del and check out their tree. Something I did back when I lived there ages ago.

EECC in my home town. What a perfect combination. Great vid! 🥰
Awesome video! Now I want to go to San Diego
Thank you!
This was a great vlog!
San Diego looks like an interesting place to visit, especially the food😊
I miss the old closing music!!
Same! I only found the channel recently but I loved that old closing music with the horns! ❤
Someone bought the rights to it and so we started getting copyright notices on it so we had to change the music!
Born & raised in California , live about 2 hours from San Diego, spent many weekends there
Love San Diego and coronado island. My Dad was a Marine and that’s where he went to basic training. We have family that lives in San Diego as well. Lots of history stuff there too. Old Town is the best for Mexican food. Balboa park is neat too. Thanks for sharing! ❤

Does the USA have milk in coffees? I’m in Australia and most like it with milk or almond milk etc

You missed going to the Italian Village? Close to the hotel you stayed at. We were there in January and loved San Diego! Enjoy your cruise.

Old Town is a tourist trap. Definitely NOT the best place to get authentic Mexican food in SD!!!! That's where all the cruise guests go.
Interesting as it was locals that told us to go there… the food was excellent.
