Still on 3? I'm curious if you ever got into 4, which to me feels mostly like a reskinned interface around essentially the same core game. The unit promotion system is a meaningful difference, as are city specialists, but otherwise, it strikes me as very similar mechanically. I wouldn't want to be without the new stuff, though! 5 went in a bad direction, though. Haven't even bothered with 6.

I come back to 3 though because I grew up playing it ( I know alot ofbthe exploits lol). 5 took the game in a much more serious direction and I dont enjoy the ost as much. Its also much slower getting into . I missed the progression with the earlier civ titles in 5. Lastly, I loath 6 with all my being but the Ost is pretty good.

I don't know, maybe I will give it another try someday, but after hundreds of hours and both expansions, I feel that that conclusion is fair and warranted. In a nutshell, it's basically incoherent. Aside from one unit per tile and global happiness being honestly just poor mechanics in general (IMO), all of the avenues possible are independent branches towards victory with little in the way of opportunity cost, balance, or dynamic interrelationship. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I'm surprised anyone who has played 3 or 4 seriously would walk away concluding that it is more serious, if anything else. I actually like the squares more than the hexagons but can see why the latter are appealing. There are a couple of cool features that it added which I wish 4 had, though, like finite strategic resources, but these are pretty few and far between in the big picture.

I never actually was good at civ 3 my city’s always seemed to revolt. I just tried stacking tons of soldiers in there to try to stop it😂 but the music and the vibe is so real I wish we could all go back in time. Do you like halo 3 ? It reminds me of halo 3 oddly

I didn't play Halo 3 yet, but I played Halo Combat Evolved and yeah the style and the instruments are similiar, especialy the bass
Sincerely, civ 3 is the best civ, and also it's soundtrack is a masterpiece. The modern Civs like 5 and 6 are crappy, specially 6. I feel like playing a kids game, it lost it's essence.
Civ 3 Modern era music is so much better than Civ 4. In Civ 3 I like to listen to the music thoughout the game but in 4 it gets REALLY annoying the moment you reach the endgame. Usually I switch off the music at that point.
