It’s important you find your strength, have faith and more importantly, don’t ever lose hope! You’re a beautiful creation, God wanted you here for a reason, it’s your responsibility to find what you have to do. We all matter, we all must do our part in this world….you matter, don’t ever forget that!

Uff da, I've had transverse myelitis, on my back a few hours for bilateral mastectomy, awoke with all the symptoms. It took several weeks to diagnose the problem, but in the meantime, was undergoing chemotherapy. Unbelievable benefit of the heavy doses of protocol...several of the combination drugs were exactly what was required to treat the virus in my spine. Even with the anaphylaxis, which required additional steps, without it, I could have been in Paul's shoes. Instead, everything was a huge success. And that was 15 years ago!

My girlfriend had transverse myelitis, fortunately she wasn't left with any mobility issues, but she does now have chronic nerve pain down one arm and shoulder. Which really sucks.
@@DodderingOldMan My symptoms were all from the waist down. Felt like ground glass when skin touched skin. Couldn't sit for long periods, & trying to get comfortable for my chemo treatments was excruciating. Especially since I already had a titanium plate with 5 screws in my neck from a herniated disc many years prior, that required seating adaptions for comfortable seating anyway. It was a mixed blessing that the drugs that accompanied my chemo protocol were exactly what was needed to treat my Transverse myelitits. ---I send my heartfelt condolences to your girlfriend. And many blessings to you for being a support.

every time I hear Dr. Will talking at the beginning of every episode I listen to him carefully. He's so wise for someone that is young enough to be my son. I respect him and the nurses and other doctors so much. Love from afar in California to all of these fine people at St. Georges.

Wow, this episode really had me tearing up! Especially the guy with neurological problems & his wife. I’ve been married 45 years & can imagine how hard ever day is in that situation.

On my 38th birthday, I discovered that the difference in pain between a heart attack and an esophageal spasm was shortness of breath. Given how much it hurt, I was definitely somewhat short of breath. Thankfully, some medication and some changes to my diet, and I'm doing much better. Grandpa will be okay.

I'm always scared for breaks like Josh's when they move it back into place that they don't chip off bits of bone or make it worse potentially pinching nerves or veins! 😢 it would be great if technology advanced where they could have a real time image of the break/dislocation as they do that to be sure.

I had transverse myelitis a few years ago. It was excruciatingly painful. My eyelid drooped just like his. I lost all function below my ribcage. My husband had to carry me back and forth to the bathroom and bathe me and wash my hair. It took 6 long weeks to even get a diagnosis. They never found out what caused it. I honestly thought I was going to die.
Eventually I was able to walk again but I have residual nerve damage in my face, legs, and feet.
I’m glad your spouse didn’t have you go into nursing home. Im not sure what to think about that, why he didn’t stay home.
@@maryreynolds5310 two young boys and she had to work…who would take care of him? I was also diagnosed with transverse myelitis 10 years ago. I was 62 and was able to stay home, I was blessed but still suffer from extreme pain.
With rehabilitation and hard work Paul will be able to go home. I went from wheelchair to walking with consistent physical therapy and determination. Good luck!
The generation gap- no sooner had the girl entered the ward to see her boyfriend and out comes the Smartphone to take a photo! That would be the last thing on my mind.
Its a normal everyday thing now. She's probably going to let friends know how he is.

Younger people no longer understand how to converse, let alone compose intelligible paragraphs, let alone sentences. Their spelling and vocabulary acumen has drastically deteriorated! What I have seen in my experience in the local middle and high schools has been appalling! 😢

My mother feels better when she gets a picture. I think it lets her make her own assessment of how i’m doing since we live far apart.

I suffered a massive stroke 5 years ago at 45 and am Partially Paralyzed on my left side. The doctors that saved my life and the lives of others can’t be thanked enough. Regardless of deficits, I’m grateful to still be here.

Dehydration alone can cause the symptoms the gentlemen with myelitis had. Confusion, hallucinations, weakness, fever. It is very common in care facilities to have dehydration. They forget to push the fluids and the patients forget to drink. It can also cause death soon after these symptoms present themselves.
I'm very impressed with all the doctors who just treating all of their patients and fix what's broken and make them feel better god bless them all
