Annie Lennox is one of the very few singers I've seen whose performance was so enthralling it totally captivated a large audience and brought them to total silence, on two separate occasions. One of the greatest singers ever.❤❤
She did an amazing cover. What really got me was seeing Paul McCartney sing to it and you just seen the whole audience feel that energy and vibe that was truly beautiful.
When you have Paul and Ringo standing ovation you know you did it great!!! What a marvelous performer Annie Lennox is! Her voice is such a source of power, tenderness, connection and the pure magic of music! Awesome!
"He never listens to them, he knows that they're the fools." The most moving twist ever written in a music piece. What a beautiful man they're singing to. I would have fallen in love with that fool instead of laughing at him.
I remember reading an article on the eurythmics the person went on to say her singing was soulless and lacked emotion l guess someone wasn't a music critic for long
@@mikefarrell734 Here’s 2 horrific examples of people who know nothing about music or singing. Jim Morrisons father told him point blank in letters that he couldn’t sing and he was wasting his time. Then Barbara Streisand’s mother told her she couldn’t sing either and would never get anywhere singing. Both True stories. Parents can do a lot of damage. James Deans father didn’t think he could act either. Ridiculous.
"Impressed" He was in awe at how brilliantly a better job she made of it than the beedles ever could. As with all of their music, it was far better by anyone rather than them.
I've been trying to reach my niece about just this very thing. Music has a duality to it. It is above all a performance art. Yet, time in a studio can realize a grander vision of a song. However, that is not a reason to invite comparison to a live performance. Learning to appreciate the performance is what music is all about. Always invest in a live performance and see where it takes you. And....be open to the nuance of a patiently constructed studio masterpiece. Either way you won't go wrong. Either way, in the end, it's about the performance.
This version actually got me into 'Fool on the Hill'. I found it kinda slow in the beginning but when I heard this version, it felt so powerful so now I love the original and (of course) this performance.
I can't believe this is almost ten years ago. My dad's been gone 7 years and this is something we shared together. Miss you, Daddy and thank you Annie for doing this cover. Means so much.
I was fortunate enough to see this happen on tv that evening. It was so moving to see and feel Annie’s dedication and respect to the Beatles brilliance…. The performance of the night.
She just kills this - you can see it in the eyes of Paul and Ringo !!! Cheers Annie and Dave what a range and collection of songs in their own right !!! Never cared to play it ... but I DO NOW :)
Annie Lennox's song ' Fool on the hill' is so totally beautiful..her rendition so unique and it is the way so many of us feel..unheard voices on a hill alone..until we find our voice and pass the message. AcquaPlanet4thislovelysong, Annie, my childhood & her fantastic and superwoman work for humanity. Cheers with a beer to Glasgow, Africa & all planting 8 billion trees, with Dorothé, Kate & Alessandra or girls called Bees.. Buy bug glasses in Italy, put them on when U drink vino, or laugh like Dorothé & Kate getting ready 4 a row!
The first time I saw this special on TV I didn't know Annie Lennox. Then a year or two later I got obsessed with her "old songs" and when I was listening to her 2014 album, Nostalgia, it hit me: She was the one singing The Fool On The Hill... Dammit! Idk why it took me so long to know her, but I'm glad I did it and now I praise her work as it should. What a singer!
Annie's a force of nature; I saw her live in 2004 with Sting. Dave Stewart is underrated as a musician. Wonderful version here and lovely to see Paul, Ringo and their wives! Thank you so much for uploading this.
Feel blessed to say I grew up not far from were Annie is from in Scotland. What a superstar I mean that really just gave me chills. Can't believe I just watched this for the first time!
Annie, I Luv Ya, & ya brought tears to my eyes. As we transition to 5D, myself & others have been talking forever, and I think, "He never listens to them, he knows that they're the fools.", the world is wakeing up, it can't be stopped, many, many of us know the truth, we are creating/generateing that new reality, and they will come, some have been with us the entire time !
What a incredible performance by Annie Lennox she sang it better than the original her voice has too be one of the top 10 of all time Saw this 5 yrs ago was overwhelmed still holds true today
She is such a versatile talented beautiful beautiful artists...love her version of PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR HEART...her dUEt with Al Green...is timeless and universal!
No one better than The Beatles, sorry...51 years have passed since then, and no one can match them singing this song. I still remember when I bought Rubber Soul, I was a kid and a fan of them....Regards from Argentina
Wow wow wow just when you thought no one could perform it better. ..the passion with which it is sung brings out more depth and meaning. Fantastic and to sing in front of the surviving Beatles.. pretty cool.
Day after day, alone on the hill The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him They can see that he's just a fool And he never gives an answer But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around Well on the way, head in a cloud The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud But nobody ever hears him Or the sound he appears to make And he never seems to notice But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around And nobody seems to like him They can tell what he wants to do And he never shows his feelings But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around He never listens to them He knows that they're the fools They don't like him The fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around
UFF! Que voz te mandas Annie Lennox! Antes de esta versión no le daba mucha pelota a esta canción. Me hiciste dar cuenta del temon que me estaba perdiendo! No me canso de escuchar!
Annie is the epitome of talent, beauty and grace.
Amen !!!!!!
She is.
Annie Lennox is one of the very few singers I've seen whose performance was so enthralling it totally captivated a large audience and brought them to total silence, on two separate occasions. One of the greatest singers ever.❤❤
Beautiful. Annie somehow made it better than it already was.
She did an amazing cover. What really got me was seeing Paul McCartney sing to it and you just seen the whole audience feel that energy and vibe that was truly beautiful.
Still more beautiful than most woman half her age, and that’s before we start talking about the voice.
that, my friend, sums it up perfectly.
🥰
Our real life Galadriel
I agree my mam or sir
It's better than the original
When you have Paul and Ringo standing ovation you know you did it great!!! What a marvelous performer Annie Lennox is! Her voice is such a source of power, tenderness, connection and the pure magic of music! Awesome!
A standing ovation from Paul and Ringo. They love hearing other artists versions.
"He never listens to them, he knows that they're the fools." The most moving twist ever written in a music piece. What a beautiful man they're singing to. I would have fallen in love with that fool instead of laughing at him.
Touche my friend!
Actually the "Fools" are the ones who "BeLIEve" the earth is a spinning ball......
Can someone tell me how America changed on this night? I am not American.
She is gifted with one the greatest voices ever. She can sing anything and make it hers. I bet even Macca was impressed. Great rendition!
I remember reading an article on the eurythmics the person went on to say her singing was soulless and lacked emotion l guess someone wasn't a music critic for long

Disse tudo.

Love the original, but this got me quite emotional. A brilliant version by Annie & Dave. It still amazes me how music can get to you.
That wasn’t about the original, as I see it, Lennox is original and timeless in her own right.
Never despair 👍
That's what happens when legends pay homage to even greater legends.
The difference between a Performance and a Production is Talent... This is a Performance..

And she's so beautiful...

"There are no good covers of Beatles songs." Eurythmics: Hold our beers. I mean c'mon, Paul was the first to lead the standing ovation
I think Annie could easily do covers of The Beatles songs.
At first I didn't take to it, but now I can't get hers out of my head. And her dancing is priceless. Im a fan
Actually, it was Ringo that lead the standing ovation.

Day after day, alone on the hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around
Well on the way, head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around
And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around
He never listens to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around
it's flat
