Recently ,I visited Japan in spring 2024 for the first time.I am sharing my first hand experience with you guys and also give some tips so if you are also travelling to Japan for first time, watch this videos carefully.I arrived at Haneda airport and the first thing after arrival was to exchange money and then buy a local IC card for train travel.We didn't get Pasmo as it wasn't available at Haneda at our time.Hence, we went to a different counter just opposite to tourist information centre to get a welcome suica card.This card has 28 days validity and can be recharged any number of times.There are automatic vending machine which issues these cards,You can also top up your card any number of times.I have shown in the video about the process.Its very simple and each time you have to repeat the same process for different cards.Remember each individual should have a separate card(including children).
These cards can be used in train ,buses ,for shopping and dining as well.

Yes,they are open 24 hours until they run out of Cards are down due to some other issues.you can get either get Pasmo or welcome Suica ,the vending machines are located exactly opposite sides to each other.

How far from clearing immigration is the welcome suica booth? I have a connecting flight to Osaka and not sure if it will be on the way
I's right outside once you clear immigration and come out you can see a tourist centre towards right and passmo booth beside it and Suica towards left.Don't have to walk much.
what kinds of public transportation covered by suica card?
It can used in all public transport like train ,buses, subways,monorail , Ferries across japan .It does not cover Shinkansen and some limited express trains

Roughly how many train rides is 1000 yen likely to get you?
For Example- train from Haneda airport to Shibuya station costs 500 yen minimum.If you want you can also check fares on Google maps.we filled our IC card with 4000 yen each for the first time.

Is it available to purchase at Narita Airport?
Yes it's available at JR East travel service centre at Narita airport.
Is it available on Hiroshima airport?
You won't be able to get a suica card in Hiroshima but you can buy an ICOCA card at any train stations there.
