    Success at last! Thank you.
One of the best descriptions anywhere.
Well prepared. Clear images. Comfortable pace. Clear speech. Good method. Helpful materials.
No wasted time, backtracking or irrelevant comments. It just gets to the point and gets on with it. Concludes with a useful summary.
There's just one minor anomaly which could be misleading. The use of the word "Tail" when describing the two original pieces being held beneath the knot. In knot and hitch-tying circles, the part which is not manipulated is generally known as the "Standing" part. [Quote; "The standing end (or standing part) of a rope is the part that is not active in knot tying. It is the opposite part to the working end."]
In all other respects, an EXCELLENT video instructional!
I've struggled to understand other descriptions, in video form, and text + images. I've always failed.
This is the first time a video has enabled me to create a decent BUTTON knot.
    Thank you.

Congratulations !!!! as with you it took me a while to complete my first button knot. Trust me when I say it get's easier the more you do it.
Thanks of the feedback on the language, I will try to adjust my old and incorrect terminology in future posts, switching to Standing or working end !!!!!

@@BottomUPBoats Sorry folks - Is there another (minor) error, or have these old ears misheard you?
At 1:13 you seem to say "up through the purple loop", yet the video shows you (correctly?) coming up through the red loop.
BTW - my more recent attempts have, as you rightly indicated, produced much neater results. Now maybe I'll create decent soft shackles!
      Thank you.

@@pwat3091 you are the second one to point that out, so you ears are still working fine. Glad they are getting easier and that you found the video useful even if was - is less than perfect.... you Soft shackles will be slick and super strong with this knot !

Holy cow, I've tied tens of thousands of knots over the years ... turk's heads, star knots, diamond knots, all the classics. I'm starting to make shackles and this one has to be the toughest knot to tie that I've encountered. Yours must be the fifth video I've pored over trying to get this, and the first one that actually got me to the finish line! THANK YOU!
Ok now to watch this a dozen more times, maybe even not at 0.25 speed 😂

That is awesome! Glad you finally made it to the end be sure to come back and use the video to practise. 4 or 5 more successful attempts and you may not need us anymore :)

This is by far the clearest tutorial on tying this knot. Many thanks!

Nice one, glad you liked it. Takes a while to master this one, it gets easier each time you do it and should be committed memory after 6 or 7 attempts :)
If not the video is always there to help walk you through it !!!

Thanks for this clear demo. It helped me to finish my first button knot. Working the loose ends to the bottom is the difficult part for me. If you have some details for this part . .

Congratulations, trust me when I say the more you do the easier it gets. If you start by pulling the knot into a loose ball then tighten on strand from the first turn all the way through the knot (going clock wise) you will then find it easier to trace the second loose end from start to finish. Once it get tight remember to use the fid, once again going clockwise

Bottom UP - Boats : I was making some tiny soft shackles out of 1.75mm Zing-It for my camping tarp. I also made some prusik loops using a button knot.
The speed of your video is the best I found and you show all the important details without a bunch of nonsense.
I THINK I can tie a button knot without watching the video now. I'm sure I'll be watching it a few more times though.
Thanks again for posting a very helpful video!

Excellent, lots of uses both off and on the water for the king of stopper knots 👌

Very good but please don't cover the key parts of the lay of the line (whether over or under each other) with your thumbs.

The key steps at the end to get all four lines are glossed over and make it really hard to follow what you are saying.

Sorry to hear you did not find the instructions to be clear, if you rewind to the 3:14 mark the purple and red lines at the top of the video are the original crown knot. Once you have your left hand in place if you go back to this point and grab the two line at the top pull them up then push your left hand up to meet them they should flatten the knot and allow you to complete the 2 crown knot to finish things up..
All you need to do then is the clock wise tighten to complete the process.
Good luck with the update commentary, I hope this allows you to complete a button knot.
