    The surviving robber in story one is only sorry because his target turned out to be armed. They're so full of bravado until someone gets shot.

      @@dandraedrummond7390still unsure what their intentions were. If things went wrong they could have killed him, and it also depends on if they were armed or not. Breaking and entering is one thing, if they were armed with anything that could be lethal, it's not just breaking and entering anymore.

      Horrible District Attorney just trying to get more cases under his or her belt. They probably used some BS excuse saying that him using a weapon against an unarmed assailant was not an appropriate response to the level of threat or saying something like he could have run instead and that he was not in any true immediate life-threatening situation (I'm not saying this, these are just things they use to get you). And most likely due to a lack of money, the defendant was not able to fight it to the end and instead had to take a lesser sentence.

      Bay area is in California. California has duty to retreat doctrine when in public. It also has proportional defense as a form of self defense. So if the guy punched him, he can only really punch him back. So using a knife would be a disproportional rise in defense. California self defense laws are ass and the DAs love making the victims the people who suffer most times.

    Hot take: while teaching kids to solve their problems peacefully and to try to deescalate things is important I think we should not make self defense a taboo.
    Be it shoving back a pushing and pushing bully in school or whacking an armed robber or ending a would-be assaulter. Defending oneself or others from an unlawful attack with appropriate means should never be a crime and as soon as the attacker is armed or reasonably stronger its safe to assume they are out to seriously harm their victim. So the victim using segnificant force or some kind of implement to amplify their defensive capabilities is justified. Also minors or other people who can't defend themselves being attacked or at risk if a fight is prolonged are a factor.
    While it should be ruled out that someone is using the claim of self defense as an excuse to justify beating someone up the defending party should also be considered innocent until proven guilty.
    Also... When police or other officials use force to defend themselves or others or to stop what they reasonably assume to be an armed person... Dont blame them! Would you rather have cops that stand and watch as someone stabbs multiple people or cops that shoot a guy who keeps running at them knife in hand who turned out to be drunk out of his mind?
    The latter might be a tragic death but them assuming the least dangerous possible scenario isn't an option.
    As well as with civilians killing in self defense checks and control instances are essential but it shouldn't be the case that the press immediately jumps to conclusions or that people start yapping about police cruelty.

    Not me, but my cousin John. His ex wife had gotten promoted by the Nakatomi Banking Corporation. She was transferred to Century City in Los Angeles, CA. John was on the NYCPD and there was a backlog of cases, he couldn’t just pack up and move so they divorced and she took the kids to the west coast. One Christmas in the late ‘80s, John was accidentally invited to the big holiday party at Nakatomi Plaza, right as a group of international freelance terrorists were planning to rob the place, and John took them all down, to protect himself and the guests at the party.

    • @aaronmartin8027
      @aaronmartin8027 8 днів тому

      Nothing missing. No lie. This happened in California. California laws concerning self-defense are...not condusive to having a victim defend themselves and not suffer the consequences of thinking their saftey is more important than the aggression spent on them by an attacker.

      The last story is the origin of Batman, as if told from the perspective of the man who shot Bruce Wayne's parents.
