For a small country like NED to try & close the gap even a tiny bit to the US W4x4, they'll need to repeat what they did with Lieke Klaver with Tasa Jiya (who has very similar PBs to Klaver) by converting her into a sub 50s quarter-miler who can make WC/Olympic 400m Finals! NED needs to have the option of being able to use both Klaver & Jiya on all 3 Relay Teams!

Well, I bet you in the US they appreciate it more when you win individual gold. So Sydney really doesn't care if her 400M hurdles competitors win gold in an event that isn't as prestigious. That's why now is Femke's big chance to beat McLaughlin on her "home turf" and not wait until LA 2028. Sydney knows how to prioritize and focus on herself. Maybe Femke Bol should do the same right now instead of trying to keep her running friends happy. After all, she didn't hire a foreign expert coach for nothing; it was purely to improve her strides between the hurdles to beat Sydney with her killer mentality. It would be great if Femke could channel that extra (killer) energy towards a more prestigious event than the 4x400M mixed or women's relay.......

I think this gives her much more fulfillment than squeezing out the last drop for the 400mH. To some being a teamplayer and participating in more disciplines is more prestigious as well.

Why would Femke Bol care about what is considered more prestigious in the US ? There are way more T&F fans outside of the US than inside it. Her coach, Laurent Meuwly, was hired as the Dutch National coach for sprints and relays. He's not just Bol's coach and wasn't brought in "purely to improve her strides between the hurdles". It's totally fine if you can't appreciate that Bol likes to race, both with and without her teammates and likes to represent her country and her sport ... but a lot of us do appreciate that about her ...

"trying to keep her running friends happy"... sounds very condescending. Besides, there are very few things more important than caring about your friends. Don't know what will count more in the long run: being remembered by millions (of strangers) for a number or being remembered by a few (close friends) for your effort (or maybe not even for anything particular, but just being yourself)
