Thank you for this interesting conversation, Andrea. I am not familiar with the author or her work, but I was intrigued by the concept of the garden and the fountain. Like Heraclitus said, "You can't step into the same river twice because it is not the same river and you are not the same person", you also cannot step into the same garden twice. It is not the same garden. The flowers and trees grow. The birds sing a different song. Maybe there are different birds from one day to the next. Even the insects are not the same. Not only do different people experience the garden differently, so does each person every time they step into it. Anyway, I just thought I'd share that.

I love this! Especially the Heraclitus comparison. So true @steveschertzer5088 a garden is so much more than humans, as is a city. I bring up some Borges and Calvino quotes relative to this in the audio only podcast version (apple, spotify etc). Those post directly from the podcast to YT somewhere. Will find the link later when I am in the office and add it here, as I’d like to share those quotes with you. Warmest, Andrea

Excellent. Sounds like a good read and I've added it to my list. Thank you.
I'm so intrigued by these conversations around the conditions of our realities in conjunction with our relationships to language. It makes me think of a book title, something like: 'scientific imperialism and the power of the word'...
Reflecting upon the work at hand, in regards to the greater role of stewardship, and being entirely honest about tge double-edged sword of the tool of language, and overlying the thesis of Jacques Ellul, the State as a propaganda machine, and the language games of Wittgenstein, we may arrive at a position where we can see, perhaps with the utmost of clarity, that this work we are doing sits at the lynchpin of our very own perpetuation.
The one singular biological reality exists only within the multiplicity of interpretations that arrive through our diverse phenomenological experiences. And if this is true, it would seem to be of the most paramount of importance to be in recognition of the power of narrative. Like: "in the beginning, there was the word."
Keep up the good work my friend and it's great to see it proliferating!

Wonderful to see you here again @tinfoilhatscholar and thank you for the support. I really like this sentence you write about a 'multiplicity of interpretations that arrive through our diverse phenomenological experiences'. Also, a pdf of the book can be found here for free: academic.oup.com/book/43074?login=false
