Royal Marines are special....we are all so proud of them. Windsor is an historic town. There are two barracks....the river Thames is close by. A town with several huge parks where the public can visit and relax at their leisure. The Royal Marines march proudly through the town’s ancient streets, heading towards Windsor Castle where they will make up the new guard, guarding the castle. An interesting video with lots to see and learn from.

Excellent band. Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of seeing the Band of the Royal Marines (Scotland) in Bronx, NY. great performance on a tight stage. Back to this video- - Look for the little boy who appears in uniform on the left at the 5:25 mark and watch for him until the end. Priceless. Thanks for a great video.

Thanks for posting this superb video. It's always ironic to see how few people line the streets on the way to and from the castle. Thanks to this video and others a much wider audience gets a chance to admire and appreciate the superb musicianship on display. Onward and upward.

Nice touch that - The Band of the Royal Marines breaking into the Regimental March of H.M.Coldstream Guards - Milanollo - as they play them onto the square for dismissal.

An undisciplined police officer heading the parade! Should have been marching in time! ahead of the band, or at least that would've been the scene in my time in the police service. I would have been very proud to march ahead of these brave people.

To me it looks like one of the bass players marches a BBb instrument. I thought the BBb basses had been phased out due to their heavy weight. The household guards look like marching each 2 Eb basses.

I pity the police... they've got to carry so much crap all over their body nowadays and can't afford to look smart like they did in the 80s...
They constable in the video is a hot mess... dangling his keys off his belt like that like he's a prison warden of sorts.
    What a policeman carries today:
    1. Stab vest
    2. Radio
    3. PAVA spray
    4. Body-worn camera
    5. Hand cuffs
    6. Disgusting hi-vis 'health and safety' jacket
    7. Metal extendable baton
    8. Smart phone
    9. Torchlight
    10. Latex gloves
What a policeman used to carry:
    1. Wooden truncheon
    2. Hand cuffs
    3. Pocket book
    4. Whistle

The very last march, played after the band has entered the barracks and the guards enter, is "Milanollo", the regimental quick march of the Grenadier Guards Regiment.

    • @paulgarnham2770

  • @figjam59
    @figjam59 6 років тому +2

Surely the police officers are there to keep the road clear of pedestrians etc so that the soldiers can march uninterrupted? They aren't part of the parade and to expect them to be as accomplished as soldiers at marching is unrealistic. I'm glad that they don't try to stay in step, although it's very difficult to not get into step and march with tunes like that being played.

A 1st class parade as always. Here's a question for any of you RM experts out there. Can anyone say why Royal Marine Drum Majors wear miniatures instead of full size decorations on their baldric? I've seen it many times, but only affecting the drum major. The other ranks in the band are all wearing full size decorations on parade, but not the drum major. Many thanks in advance....

    • @supernutkin5122

Don't know the answer ...... but it's in the RM Dress Regulations that RM Drum Majors have to wear miniature medals on their Number One Ceremonial Uniforms.

Unfortunately the Bass Drummer has to hit the Bass Drum very loudly so the troops marching at the rear can still hear the beat and keep in step. After all, the troops are not musicians and can easily get out of step ..... in fact, very often, they do. ..... SuperNutkin

What utter waste of tax payers money when the Armed forces are strapped of money and equipment. We are paying for full time musicians and part-time soldiers. The armed forces are on their knees under this Tory Government. This is window dressing get the lads the proper equipment and training never mind poncing up and down in front of the public giving the impression everything is in order
