    In the years during1965-1968, the Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force stationed in Singapore, at the request of Singapore Government, deployed the RM and RAF Bandsmen to parttake in the formation of military bands in the high schools. My school band was coached by a RMB clarinet player, Peter Dunstan, who was from RMB of either Plymouth or Portsmouth. The first march recoreded here was one of the marches introduced to us. It was named "March 21" . I played baritone then. Singapore is celebrating 50th year of nation building this year. I wish to thank the RMB and RAFB for thier significant contributions to Singapore. Thank you. Kwok Wah LAI of Singapore

    It would be incredibly difficult to surpass this top performance by the Royal Marine Band.
    Flawless precision marching. A robust selection of lively music played by the best musicians in the world. Extremely enjoyable and very inspiring.

    The piece of music played at 12.00. was the Slow March of the Royal Marines, named "The Globe and Laurel" ......... Then, in 1964, Lord Louis Mountbatten, Corps Colonel of the RM at that time, awarded the new, and current, Slow March "Preobrazhensky"

      +Mayhem380 I have some 1500+ files on RM Windsor. Many are repetitious as I shoot using "continuous" on camera then edit or scrap what I don't need. Are u looking for anything in particular? eg bands ?

    Uniforms are sterile, drill is sterile, band is sterile,,,,,,DAMN! Why is the RM and USMC make it look so easy ( marching, uniforms, and playing)? Love it!

    The Band of HM Royal Marines and the RM Guard and RM Colour Party all looked superb with great drill and pride. .............. The two / three RM officers, however, looked as though they were on a Sunday School outing instead of marching like proud leaders of Her Majesty's Royal Marines. They need to go back to Lympstone to be taught how to march with pride instead of shuffling along as seen in this video.

      @supernutkin. A point you're missing is that the officers were not yet on parade and therefore not expected to 'drill'. You'll find them to be perfectly sharp once they've joined the formation. As an aside, there's a particular form of 'March' called perambulation where officers countermarch on the sidelines in an orchestrated 'casual' manner while a parade forms up. The officers come on parade once they come to the NCO to take over the formation

      yank1776 No problem buddy. It might interest you to check out the Royal Navy website. It's a great source of info for both the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. They're a bit more accessible and nicely laid out than the US armed forces websites so you shouldn't find it to hard to find any info you might be after.

    • @spentacle
      @spentacle 8 років тому

      Not so. According to said web site, women hjave direct entry to the RMSoM, so, no, they don't have to come from the Navy. I can't see any discrimination in the Commando section, which is the only area they might be excluded from IMHO

    • @SuperSkaterDude1011

      spentacle Women can not join the Royal marines. Source: The Royal Navy Website, A Royal Marines Recruitment leaflet. Oh did I mention I'm currently in the process of joining myself. Women can not join the RM. If they join the band service they are attached to another service. As of current there are no women in "Her Majesties Corps of Royal Marine Commandos". All Royal marines are commandos. Not all Commandos are Royal Marines.

    Comments below about the presence of women are probably now irrelevant
    "A ban on women serving in close combat units in the British military has been lifted by Prime Minister David Cameron" 9 July 2016

      It's already been stated that it's for armoured regiments and field artillery. not infantry. RM shall continue to be male only. Admiralty board has already astablished this.

      Looks like I should have said "may possibly" rather than "probably". Never trust a newspaper to tell the full story. :)

    • @SuperSkaterDude1011
      @SuperSkaterDude1011 8 років тому +2

      spentacle Very true. It's whatever sells papers right. But yeah. The guys up top are not convinced that it's viable to deploy women in such a manner for the same reason they were not allowed on Submarines initially. Within six months of them allowing women on Subs the first woman to ever be granted a place was Kicked out of the Navy for "Having a special relationship" with one of the male members of crew on board said submarine. It's dangerous on a submarine. Let alone when bullets are flying.

    The officers need to learn how to swing their arms SHOULDER HIGH!!!
    The rest put on a great show though. Excellent drill from the remainder.

      RM drill we do not swing arms in line with the shoulder or stamp our feet pongo style. Gentleman's drill.
