I can NOT do the "netcarb" "keto friendly" food....I have to do under 15-20 grams of carbs not net ones. Basically it's the Atkins induction. I've lost 270lbs in 2and a half years so far.

Yes! Anyone I've ever met who has been successful and been on keto long term, eats very much like this video. And uses net carbs. Including myself! 😂 I end up around 15-16 per day a lot of the time - sometimes more and sometimes less - but I think the difference is the source of the carbs. If they're from full fat dairy and non-starchy veg, that's a far cry from packaged "keto" products and treats. The body recognizes real, whole foods and ingredients and know how to process them. An occasional keto treat (made at home with recipes like yours and using real ingredients) keeps things interesting and shakes things up for me by increasing my carbs every so often to that 21 carb level. Haha! I gave myself 21 carbs in the beginning because I thought it would make me feel like a rebel and like I was cheating and getting away with something! So dumb, but it worked. On the occasions when I'd use every carb, I'd smile at the idea I was somehow cheating the system with my extra carb! 🤣🤣🤣

After I read the comment on the lady that can’t lose on net carbs I realize I fit in that category also but I’m sedentary due to fatigue and an autoimmune illness I’m fighting. I’m making a vow right now to go for a walk every day from this day on. Friends make a vow today and if she can lose what she did I’m sure I can lose this last 25 lbs hanging on to my body. I’m declaring war on my fat. I never can get in ketosis. I did on carnivore . I also lost my appetite on carnivore and could hardly eat. My fatigue got worse without eating. I needed to do keto so I could choose foods I could eat for energy. It’s a battle. I’m going to win this one.

OMG, so one of the things I struggled with was giving up quinoa salad. Looooove it, but oh so many carbs! Watching you put the cauli rice over the romaine gave me the idea to try cauli rice as a replacement for the quinoa.
So today, I cooked a batch of frozen cauli rice from Costco, let it cool and tossed it with some diced (really small) cukes, red onion, red peppers and some chopped parsley. I cut very small cubes of mozzarella to replicate the mouth feel of lentils or some kind of bean. Salt and pepper and G Hughes poppyseed dressing and tossed it all together.
    It works!!!! So delicious!!!
I never thought of using the cauliflower rice this way, so thank you sooooo much for the inspiration!

I have found the research, as far as lowering fat intake, to be the opposite in women that aren't losing weight on the ketogenic diet, especially women over menopause. They can be doing everything right and still not lose weight- if they add in more butter, in their mornings and evenings they begin to lose weight.
I know that goes against the protein + fat= ketones, take in more protein and less fat and your body will convert more of your own fat to ketones, but it works. I wonder if it has something to do with getting women's bodies to not feel like they need to stay in a survival mode? Anyway, for some women, adding butter helped them to really begin to see weight loss.
    Love your channel!!

I do the cooking in my household and I've eaten an atkins diet for 30 years now allowing myself 12 carbs per day. These recipes look nice and are likely perfect for the average woman. That said for a two hundred pound construction worker they fall very short. There simply isn't enough fat or protein and two many carbs for my diet. I'm also not a fan of cauliflower rice. I prefer miracle rice with zero carbs. My meals are simple. Breakfast, eggs, pork. Lunch, often skipped but on the days I eat lunch it's anyone of a number of options(tuna, sardines, poultry, boiled eggs, cheese and olives). Dinner is generally a meat or seafood and two low carb vegetables. I like simple. Things like a grilled salmon filet with a side of steamed asparagus and some raw cauliflower. Or perhaps a grilled steak with roasted brussel sprouts and some sauteed greens. The fanciest I get is a large pizza with a cheese and egg crust. Only a few carbs and tastes like pizzas from a pizza place. I have been successful at making large pancakes that are around one carb each and taste like french toast. You can even make waffles from the batter. Tonight I have a large pot of chili simmering on the stove and I intend to serve it with cheese and over a serving of miracle rice. A couple of carbs per serving mostly from the onions and small amount of bell peppers.

My only problem with counting total carbs and keeping it under 20g per day is that I don’t get enough fiber. I have upped my fiber intake to 30g per day and my gut is so much better. I know that some people don’t think that fiber is important but it’s what feeds our gut bacteria. This has influence on a host of body processes, everything from brain health to hormone production. So, I think I will stick with my 20g net carbs. However, the meals sound delicious and should not be ignored even if more fiber is desired.

I think that we need to differentiate between the types of carbs that are subtracted to arrive at "net carbs" - artificial (or tweaked, like allulose) sweeteners vs. fiber. Fiber is genuinely not absorbed by the body and is important for health. Subtracting out the fiber carbs from the total is very different from ignoring sweetener carbs. I agree a lot of the "keto-friendly" packaged foods are pretty awful and have a lot more (even net) carbs than I want!

It's too easy to eat all those keto friendly treats. Sticking to meal plans like this will help me lose the 7lbs I gained back from treats and excessive nuts. I feel like I can get back on the wagon!

I had that food scale for YEARS and finally upgraded! Started cooking in bulk to meal prep and my giant mixing bowl weighs a lot and would max out the scale. I would have to grab a other bowl and weigh in portions and it was making my life so difficult 😂 But that one lasted me sooo long

I love this video. I have lost all the weight I want but really trying to stay low carb as I feel best when I do. I am also trying to eat between 70 and 100 protein grams per day. Any idea what these days equate to? Thank you!

Would love to see more videos and recipes that are Egg Free. Ive been doing Keto but it can be limited due to my allergy to eggs and pea protein.

Thank you for adding serving sizes. Thats what scares me about most keto recipes as my biggest problem is portion control. How big is a serving of lasagna?
