I echo what some other people have said about using overflow water to create a second pool, or better yet, a pond. It looks like you have good clay there, so it shouldn't be too difficult. You don't want to be going in the drinking water pool because that will stir up sediment, which will clog your filters up at the house. Swim in the pond, but not in the water behind the great wall.

I agree. I think it is gross to get into the water you plan on using in your house. It is amazing to me that it has taken them this long to find this water source. Would have been nice if they had found it earlier when they first occupied the land. Love watching Sadie enjoy nature. She is so adorable.

I think they should also line the dirt walls of the cistern with rocks and remove the majority of the vegetation from the area to cut down on organic matter being introduced into the drinking water.

Hola 👋 from New Mexico🌶️🌵....I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. As kids we once went swimming in the cow tank they drink from which was a very big NO No the whole tank had to be dumped and cleaned. Cows don't drink dirty water. Even if you purify your water, don't water all your animals with water you have swam in. Its a good idea to build a pond below your water source for swimming.. .

You have what we call here in Nicaragua an "ojo de agua" (eye of water). What you are calling the "great wall" is exactly what we do to make the ojo serviceable. Congratulations! If you have so much ground level water, why don't you just dig a well?? Get a big roll of 24'x50' heavy duty black plastic and build a another dam for a swimming pool BELOW the concrete, drinking water dam....Who in their right mind wants to drink the water that people are swimming/bathing in?? Makes no sense what-so-ever!!

The next time you want to cut a Christmas tree on Lola's Fram please leave the bottom 4 or 5 branches. By mid June the remaining branches will start growing up pointing to the sky. Choose the strongest, straight shoot and trim off the rest. You now have a new tree growing on old roots. Small tree farms that harvest for December do this every few years. The remaining roots will speed up the growth of the 'new' tree. Some of our trees have twenty year old roots growing a two year old Christmas tree. Just remember to keep the bottom branches when you re-cut the evergreen.

I would also have a separate pool for soaking in so that the drinking water doesn't get contaminated from body waste. Otherwise, congratulations on your new water supply!

One of the easiest ways to mix concrete is on a plastic sheet. You need like an 8'x8' piece approximately. Dump the concrete out of the bag in the middle add a little water. Two people hold the two corners of the plastic each and mix. Lifting their corners to make the wet parts mix with the dry parts. You'll know when you see it. Add water till perfect. Pour it off the plastic where you need it. Super easy😮

You shouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Regardless of organic anything. Your bodies harbor good bacteria everywhere but when it gets into a different area it’s not good. You need to cover it to prevent bacteria and parasites from getting in your water. I would recommend getting a ceramic filter by Daulton because you are so casual of the capturing of water. Those filters take out everything.

So glad to see you finally set this up. I've been suggesting in comments for a long time about the water power system. Good job. OK Matt your suggestion that I've been making is that you need to put yourself in a rail trolley going down the hill from your house to Rodrigos'. This would allow you to move heavy items up and down the hill very easily. If you had some sort of cart on a rail system. You can attach an electric winch at the top and haul heavy stuff up and down. This would be much safer and easier. Again great job.

See if you can legally import some dragon flys from the us or if they are native somewhere in panama. Plant them in your spring area and cut the brush back away from the spring. The mature dragonflies are very frisky and will multiply quickly and decimate the mosquitos around a small pond the first year after they are established.

Test the water frequently for all kinds of micro critters. Your original impoundment was not exposed very long before it was pushed up the hill to tanks. The dam water (??? A 6’ square of heavy plastic or piece of woven tarp. Add half a bag of dry mix and half the water in the middle. Two strong humans each with a hand on corners. Alternate pulling up on the ‘buritto’ to about waste high. Opposing diagonally, Right up- left up, repeat. You’ll get it. Mixes very fast and tarp can also be the delivery chute. Great core work!

I appreciate different things. But as for my coffee, I want dark roast and espresso roasts the best.

I am the guy that met you at the restaurant on Sunday (today) with my family. Thank you so much for talking to me!. You guys are even more friendly in person than on the videos!! wow!. I'm so glad to have met you!. Keep doing this amazing work you are doing. You were an inspiration to us, because we were moving to Panama while watching you guys and when we got stuck in Argentina before coming here for good, we followed you with your videos and your progress while also seeing how Panama was doing, just trying to find the right moment to move. Thank you! . You guys rock!!!

@@DawnWalker-yg6ji They are even more handsome and nicer than in the videos. They have "that" kind of energy that radiates them. They are builders and creators and I always appreciated people that never stop creating new things.

I made the mistake of ordering the holiday package. When I drink coffee I want it to TASTE like coffee. If I wanted a fruit drink I would buy a fruit drink. Please don't get bent out of shape at me but I will stick with Walmart brand 100% Columbian medium roast. It tastes like coffee.

Great job on the wall! In future please add horizontal r-bar as need to tie to vertical re-bar for structural integrity of the wall.

To my heros (cuz I love and admire you guys so much) Jordan Kaylee & our babes Sadie. I know you guys love and respect the ecosystem in and around your farm. Just want to bring up a question. Are you possibly preventing the wildlife around you from having access to water by erecting the dam. Is there a way to ensure everyone and everything “ downstream” from Lola’s farm still receives the water they need? With love, respect and all my heart. I hope you read this. Waiting to hear your possibly necessary solution. Respect👊🏻❤

Springs are great, but be careful for when animals die in them. Water turns sweet. That's why most people enclose their spring, but I understand one step at a time. Wish you all the best in this endeavor. Things don't happen fast in Central American countries. Also, I believe a couple people already commented on snakes being attracted to water pools, cuidado!

Hopefully the frogs will find the water fast to feast on the mozzies. Would it be possible to build a pool beneath the wall? This is so exciting: such a game changer!

A second Wall a few meters away from the other for the swimming pool wouldn't hurt ✌️🤔

I mean we swim in the lakes we get drinking water from but they are large and funk can hopefully settle or get filtered naturally before it enters whatever system to clean it but that pool is so tiny I don't think you should swim in it.... Borderline ICK...😅

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest, cold and snowy. Do you still have a generator? Use it with a sump pump to keep the water out of the way until the building is finished. I was wondering if you are going to dig out the bottom of the pool to increase the amount of water that is kept available. May your family receive all the blessings.

    Hey! ATTENTION!
YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR WATER SPRING. IF YOU FK IT UP YOU COULD END UP HAVING IT FIND A NEW PLACE TO GO. ALSO REMEMBER A SPRING HAS ITS LIMITS. IF YOU OPEN IT UP TO MUCH YOU MIGHT LOOSE IT IN A FEW MONTHS. I'M WARNING YOU. I HOPE YOU SEE THIS WARNING. DON'T OPEN IT UP TO WIDE. A SPRING HAS A CERTAIN RATE OF FLOW. DON'T CHANGE IT OR YOU MAY LOOSE IT. "JFYI"

If you can have an overflow to the wall then you can make another pool that is for swimming in down below the drinking, cooking, and showering.
Use it for gray water usages. ( flushing the toilets, water in the garden, etc. ) You know what you need there on the farm better than all of us because you live there.
