- This is from a June, 2008 HBO program, "Live At The Bitter End " in Greenwich Village. This was a tribute to Liam Clancy who was to pass on December 4, 2009. This is Tom Paxton singing his own compositon.
Words fail me; the man is an icon, his spirit shines through his songs - he CARES and it shows. Remarkably talented and generous with his gift, I love him best of all.
guess we all miss our pals as we get older ,and can still see there faces laughing joking not thinking we would ever get older and pass on to the big fella in the sky.think this song says it for us all.
Thank you Garrison- for the Paxton- feed. I-send many to listen to him... One of my favorites LOVE ME, LOVE ME , I'M A LIBERAL
Lovely,,,,, I also miss my friends tonight
What a marvel is Tom Paxton!
One of the most touching songs ever written.
Go Tom! Thanks for all your great music.
The Lion's Head was a very special comfortable place. I lived on Christopher St and would stop in on my way home. Later I spent more time at the end of the bar by the window reading the paper seeing my friend Tania Grossinger there. Wes and Judy Joice our host and hostess were special people. All the patrons got together and paid off the tax debt to keep it open-
Thanks for sharing your memories.
True folk. All for love! God bless!
Tom Paxton not only wrote beautiful music but his lyrics are so evocative and clever, and both music and lyrics so memorable
This is a touching tribute from a towering presence of the American folk scene to the giants of our folk heritage.
Thanks Alan for checking in with us.
A long way from Tom and Liam am I geographically . In my heart and soul I would be in the first row . As I have been for decades and longer soaking up the air of my awakening to beautiful imagery and sweet guitar notes . A balm to my soul , over these many years , they have given me many times over . RIP Liam . Peter behind my Judy . The journey is not over until it's over .

pure music! So beautiful!
A great singer, songwriter, guitarist, and a reminder of all the great ones no longer with us,
Agreed Richard. I still puzzle over the state of Oklahoma's ability to develop and produce such fine musicians..
A fine human as good as the songs he sang.

Bonjour Yves.
I remember those days and this great song'
Thanks for tuning in.
Jan , thanks for posting . I got to sing harmony on this song with Tom in a concert at Swallow Hill in Denver a while back. We were amigos in the early 1960s Village scene. Here's a link to a song I wrote about a mutual friend of ours, Dave Van Ronk. I hope you enjoy this reminiscence. ua-cam.com/video/n5iD-xTagb0/v-deo.html

Votre ami, Jan Hammer
Nice.
