this is the best version of Galway girl Ive heard , look at the stage full of great happy musicians, the audience is dancing ,smiling ....what a beautiful sight
GrooveDoctor77 😭😭 im crying with joy bc this was my favorite song when i was little and still is .I remember listening to this when i was four in the very back of my mums car
Yes!! Many years ago I went to Ireland to attend a wedding. I decided all roads lead to a pub, and my sister-in-law and I found many of them....exactly like this video. The family we stayed with made everyone take a turn singing an Irish song, and it was so much fun and laughter. The most beautiful, amazing, lovable place ever!!
No song makes me happier and no song makes me more nostalgic , remembering the beautiful life i had in Ireland..thank you Ireland, best country in the world... much love from Germany
Hey Maria, I agree totally re the song, thanks for the nice things you said re my country. It so happens that I've had the best times of my life in Deutschland...love comin' back to you from Ireland !
It's a fine version. Steve Earle wrote this while staying with Sharon in Galway where she lives. She actually played in his first rendition of his song. When Mundy does it, he always mentions who wrote it. So I think well done Steve and thanks for your generosity in sharing it with Sharon, Mundy and all the other worthy singers and musicians.
This is my definition of Ireland. As an American who has been fortunate to have visited twice, I will say this - the landscapes, villages and typical tourist spots are great. However, you must spend your evenings at a local. Wherever you are in Ireland, find your way to the local pub. The people are what makes this an amazing country. They are inviting and scenes like this are not rare. The music, people singing along and just having a good time. You will see people of all ages mingle and laugh and sing old tunes and new ones like this. If you only come to Ireland to see things like the Cliffs and other tourist spots, you're missing the best part of Ireland - the welcoming, fun and genuine resident population.
I have heard dozens of versions of this wonderful song ,including great versions by the composer Stevie Earl,as well as this version by Mundy ,and all the best ones had one thing in common, the infectious spirited playing of Sharon Shannon on the Accordion, simply awesome ,what a great musician she surely is . She changes something very excellent into something "simply magical"
Love it! Love it ! Love it! Take a summers night, get a hundred Newfoundlanders in the same area, break out the accordion, fiddles, and vocalists and a gauranteed good time is in store for all…. no different in Ireland. I believe this is the Irish culture that has over hundreds of years, incorporated and fused itself into the very fabric of Newfoundland life. Thanks to the fun loving, talented Irish settlers, we have connected, learned from and continue to blend with our Irish friends and their amazing music. Enjoy
I'm from Northern Ireland, county music seems to be the new craze for us young people again everyone seems to love it. Nice to get back to the traditional ways.
My friend north and south shouldn't exist we are all off the same little island and that makes us all the same no matter what our background is or what we believe in the end if your born of the island of ireland that's enough to say your Irish no matter what. :)
Would have to disagree there...I mean yes were all born on the same island but that doesn't mean we have to be the same country particularly when you have a large section who consider themselves British and the other Irish. Cyprus is a good example, one island two nations... But that doesn't mean everyone can't get along and when I have been south of the border I have very much enjoyed my nights out and found the people to be every bit as friendly. They way it should be.
I am listening to this song everytime I am down and it brings me joy...Ireland is just an amaizing country and I discovered the song in Galway...loved it from the begining...
Well, perhaps one can tell by my symbol, but I lived in Louisiana and I can hear the Cajun/Creole in the music. Such a joy to be reminded of home. Thank you, Steve Earle, and Mundy for your rendition. Merci beaucoup!
My Mum was a Galway girl, such a wonderful Mum and this song can be happy and sad fr us as she passed away 2 years ago but we keep Irish music going and always play these songs to remember
Gera1713 my grandparents were from galway been over there five times now to find my roots .im a Lynch clan from Galway and proud of it 70 years old now sad to say dont think ill make it back to galway again .was born in england BUT ireland IS my home.i love that country so much and miss it.
Some people have difficulty chewing gum and walking. This gentleman is chewing gum, gigging a mandolin, singing, keeping time, and sounding fabulous.............all at the same time!
GOD!!! Is he ever -- words fail me! Simply gorgeous -- that carefree delightfully wicked grin, excellent singing, excellent playing, incredible presence -- GOD!! I may never stop watching this video! Thanks ever so much for uploading it! Must go find out more about him and his music!
This is one of the best versions of this beloved song. Written by Steve Earle, a Texan born in Virginia. And America's pride. We're all a little more Irish because of it, and my little Grandma McGinnis.
I always fantasize about playing this song on the guitar and singing it with my deceased grandad to my gran who was dead before i was even born. She was from Ballygar in Galway. Great how music can make you think of somebody you never got to meet
I played this for my friends in The Netherlands and they enjoyed it very much although they could not understand the tear I had in my eye, I miss home even after 30+ years Thank you for posting Tomtscotland.
Can not understand why Ed Sheerin would call his song Galway Girl knowing that this amazing version of Galway Girl was already a huge hit. Two different songs but clearly one winner. Bravo Mundy and Sharon Shannon .👏👏
Pure Cajun.. my Irish ancestors to Texas and Nashville and straight arrow back.. Love this song.. thank you Mr. Steve Earle.. Whoo hoo.. !!! Although I love this remake.. All are good..
This is bloody wonderful. Here in England we've lost most of our connections to traditional music. We're too serious about it. In Ireland, even tho this song was written recently by an American (the superb Steve Earle) the traditional feeling lives on pure & strong. And these brilliant musicians are enjoying themselves - something our dry academic folk-experts seem to have forgotten how to do. HEY!!
Thanks Steve earl great song 👍two entertainers at there best 🙌 ** my mum was from galway 🙋 forever in our heart's mum 💕 this is my favourite version of this song 🙌 keep safe all 😇
I love this song and listen to it lots. Grab the guitar and play along. best version I heard. I think Sharon Shannon played on the original with Steve Earle. A great talent.
Full Irish and extremely proud of it. Unfortunately the people of the occupied six counties would disagree lol had to say it, just had ta! Amazing song!
@@ciaran6309 - this is wayyyy better than the original in my opinion. Only the Irish do Irish songs well and if Sharon is involved, thats even better. Munday and Sharon by far do the best version of this song. I think even Steve would concede that.
Love this song. It always make me smile and reminds me of my own Mary, my once upon a time Irish lass, with her radiant dark hair and sparking eyes of blue.
These comments kinda piss me off because I've been a musician for 26 yrs. and I can tell you that if this version sucked, these people would not be responding to it in this fashion! This is a great version and if you knew anything about music, you would know that in this type of venue, the energy of the crowd sets the tempo! Shout out to my Irish brothers and sisters.

Yep. I spent my summers there as a kid. Probably a year in total. The local pubs playing darts or pool and eating Taytos.
This is spot on! The local pubs, singing along, laughing, drinking...so much fun!
Bob Sloper some one get this lad a chicken fillet roll
That's in tourist areas in the tourist season. In Ireland Ireland ( like everywhere) not the best of people frequent pubs.
