Lyrics:
Three thousand years ago, King Tutty reigned you know,
He must have travelled greatly in his time.
For in his tomb out there, was gold and silver ware,
From big hotels of every land and clime.
While going through his royal robes they found up in his sleeve,
The first fig leaf that Adam gave to Eve.
In old King Tut-Tut-Tut-enkhamen's day,
Beneath the tropic skies King Tut-Tut-Tut was very wise,
Now old King Tut-Tut-Tut was always gay,
Cleopatra she sat upon his knee, Pat! that's where she sat.
The girls would dance for him and every move a treat,
They'd move and move and move but never move their feet.
A thousand girls would dance each day,
With lots of hip-hip-hip-hooray,
In old King Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut, King Tutty's Day.
(2x)
Three thousand years ago, In history we know,
King Tutenkhamen ruled a mighty land.
He ruled for many years, 'Mid laughter, song and tears,
He made a record that will always stand.
They opened up his tomb the other day and jumped with glee,
They learned a lot of ancient history.
Today 100 years ago Nucky threw this party!
Lol that's awesome as heck 🎉 I kinda wish I could've stole your comment 😂
100 years agooo, Nucky reigned you knooow, he must have been so hated in his tiiiiime. For in his grave out there, was lead from his bastard heir, from big hotels to nothing when he diiiieeed. While going through his royal robes then found up in his sleeve, the apple that the snake gave to Eeeeeeve.
That guy singing (Steve deRosa) is my Shakespeare teacher!!
That's actually awesome! He's super talented, I love him on this show.
Aaron Schibetta he's awesome!! So talented and crazy!
@@artemisialefay2232 tell him he did a great job as eddie cantor. made every scene he was in better bc he was in it
He is awesome
Wait, the actor who plays Eddie Cantor on BWE??
“How’s about them Neffertitties” never gets old
"You can tell Remus it happens to be true". Arnold is hilarious and oh so quick...
0:36 guy drinking whiskey in the background on the right -- a legend is born
I met him on the stage of Network (Broadway play with Bryan Cranston) - but I didn't remember him being in this. Instead I reminded him of his Chappelle Show appearance "Me Jane, She Hairy" and he told me all about his experience on that show haha.....really cool guy.
The guy in the background with the whiskey is an actor named Nick Wyman. He was also in the play Network and I met him there on stage and he was talking with us and I brought up the first thing I remembered him from which was a very small appearance on Chappelle Show and he laughed and talked about that for 10 minutes.....
@@andrewbecker9062 If you're asking me, it's because there's a gif floating around which is a cropped version of him drinking whiskey which is often used as a reaction image. Though to be fair it was a lot more common back when I posted the original comment.

"That's ok. I wasn't really interested in finishing my thought."
Story of my life LOL. Gyp was an awesome character.
Gyp Rosetti has activated Rage Mode.
+ohitsdaniella by episode 9 the character became a joke.
Alpaca Male he kept going insane after that
"What else" WHAT ELSE?! COULD'VE BEEN ANYTHING!
I haven't actually seen the rest of this episode (or even more of the series, really, I mainly came here for the song), but I just have to say that Gyp is a smart guy for bringing a small, cute animal to a party. If a guy wants to attract the attention of women, he should carry a cute puppy with him. Every time I've seen a guy (or anyone) with a cute dog in real life, it isn't long before all the women in the room have to come over to see the cute animal and pet it. Speaking as a dog lover, more guys should really do this!
0:33 The way she shimmies her head and mugs while saying "was very wise" makes we watch the scene over and over.
This song puts me in a very gay mood
Yeah it was a meme back then years ago
@burteriksson I’m pretty sure he knows that, genius.
@burteriksson You can assume the dude didn't knew what gay was? you're cut above the rest aren't ya.
@burteriksson please stop talking like you’re smarter than everyone cause you obviously aren’t 😆
I like this scene, it really immerses you to the setting of the show ...
"That's OK, I wasn't really interested in finishing my thought."
That's actually a subdued reaction from gyp
In case anyone was wondering, this event was supposed to have been December 31st, 1922. Howard Carter had discovered King Tut's tomb in early November of the same year. It was, as suggested by the scene, a media sensation. For the record, King Tut was not "old" (at least, not when he reigned anyway), wasn't wise, and didn't rule for long. He was a teenager when he died, having suffered a number of medical problems from birth, possibly from inbreeding, which was common among Egyptian Royals. Cleopatra never sat on his lap, as she lived over a thousand years after King Tutankhamun.
Meyer Lansky is more accurate when he jokes about "Nefertitties", referring to "Nefertiti", who was more or less a contemporary (and possibly the mother) of King Tut.
Charlie made the remark.....although, Ms Kent like most young flappers, doesn't have much to display.
For those who were looking for history lessons on UA-cam comments
He wasn't gay either. lol
@@jeremybulfin4295 Me, but unironically
Effin Howard Carter over here.
Her goofiness is very endearing.
I find her super annoying.
0:36 - 0:42 /ourguy/ enjoying the show.
I watched this about 5 or 6 times before I realised I never actually looked at what Eddie Cantor was doing *once*
Eddie Cantor has no idea how close he came to getting killed for interrupting Gyp Rosetti.
So many memorable scenes from the show, this was one one them. Dont ask me why, it was nothing special, its just one that stuck with me. Fucking brilliant series tho.
They sing the same song on Tony’s birthday in the Sopranos
@@BostonsF1nest One of those series ive never watched, ive been meaning too, and i will.
Probably because they brought Nucky up representing king Tut since this was like the pinnacle of his power. He was ruling Atlantic City unchallenged. It’s a clever nod.
It's the girl. She's awesome.
I agree with you! As a lover of history, especially of this time period, what I like most about this show is how they incorporated the times in every episode-from showing a radiator in every home that provided heat to mentioning top stories of that time, the show is remarkable.
CLEAN IT UP JANNY!

I can't stop listening to how he says luckiest yid alive.
Now King Remus has heard everything

So many great characters in this show.
Now Remus has heard everything.
In episode 2, Billie says "You're not getting gloomy, are ya Gus?" to Nucky when he stood in front of the bathroom mirror with a gloomy look on his face. I read some stuff about it online and it suggests that Billie gave the nickname "Gus" to Nucky because his expression reminded her of Gloomy Gus, a character from a comic strip "Happy Hooligan" which was very popular back in the 20's.
That's what I can make from it at least, I hope it answered your question.
TL;DR
i think Gloomy Gus is pretty widely used. No need to elaborate.
@@tricky92x Can't read ~50 words huh? Damn, you're impressively dumb.
Very much enjoyed this seen shows great culture from the 1920's
I’ve never watched this show but thanks to Vince Giordano and Terry Gross I found the sound track for this season. Fabulous songs
I like that Nucky had occasional humor, as well as being a ruthless bootlegger.

Meg Chambers Steedle as Billie Kent was awesome
Remus' grandson Errol ended up in the Louisiana bayous sometime in the 80s and began ritualistic killings of women, putting a crown of antlers on their heads and displaying the bodies. Something something about a Carcosa & Yellow King.
his family's been there a long time
Nicely done
George Remus killed his wife after he got out of prison and was acquitted at trial. His wife and her lover robbed him blind while he was in prison so he shot her when he got out.
Then went on to be Axe’s lawyer

Hows about them Neffertitties has had me laughing for days... Omg what a fuckin hysterical line
1:29. He looks pretty pissed that he just had to pretend dance.
He should be happy seeing as what he gets to do to Billie later
I think he spotted the boys together.

As viewers we re so gullible. Nucky effortlessly falls in step with the choreography? Nope, he knows the steps because he knows Billie. Very well.
So weird that this show is based on us 100 years ago.

Nuck lived like a pharaoh. So van Alden said in the first couple of episodes anyway

At 00:52 that was an extremely lewd dance at that time. That was prolly the equivalent to "bussing it open" in our present time.
Did Remus really talk in the third person in real life?
Apparently yes
I loved the character of Billie Kent. I preferred her over Lucy.
I have a theory that Lucy had an intellectual disability. Billie was cute, sharp and fun.

1:33 Billie is a real beauty, but I wouldn’t say those completely covered Neffertitties are worth mentioning here. I guess he was just itching to use a play on words. I been there before
Well don’t forget what she does at 0:52 which is pretty much the same in that day as her whipping her tits out in 2022.
Pharaoh himself!
Damn flappers flapping all the time!!!!!!!!!
Totally!
SHIT ENCRUSTED
Yes. Take that Steve Martin
What’s funny is the sheer historical inaccuracy. This song would make more sense being about Rameses the Great who ruled for like 40-50 years or whatever and was a legendary pharaoh. Tutankhamen was 18 when he died and incredibly genetically defective due to generational inbreeding. But he’s technically the most famous because he was found in the 1800s, so...
He was found in 1922. And does accuracy matter in a novelty song? It’s a vaudeville style, not an encyclopedia.
@@fonso1030 I didn't say it was. I'm just pointing out that it is inaccurate.
Kaweebo you’re right, I apologize. My comment came off as condescending.
