I have come to highly appreciate these short videos! They are great when waiting! Thankyou!
Clever design
I love it! Such a great idea with the replaceable wood. You never cease to impress me Tim. You are entered!
Awesome! Thank you!
Man that happened so quick i had to watch the video twice .
Love the old mallet mate ,but the one you made gets first prize.
A solution elegant in its simplicity as well as its utility!
Thanks for watching
Very interesting take on the #makeamallet challenge. Lots of little ideas run around in the ole noggin.... but this wasnt one of them . Nicely done Tim.
🙏 Blessed days now Sir
Crawford out ⚒️🧙♂️
Short and sweet, , , Well done Tim.
Thanks 👍
Nice job , Tim!
Thanks!
Now I have to come up with a new idea. Very nice Tim.
Top little project, enjoyed time in your workshop as usual, all the best from ''down under''.
Thank you my friend and thanks for watching.
Black gum is a good species for mallets and mauls.
Nice one Tim !
Many thanks!
Well done Tim! I need to get one up. I could always use another hammer. 😀👍⚒️❤️
Right on
Awesomeness tim
Very nice, big improvement over my 2x4 with a handle shape cut into it.
that's an awesome idea to make a small mallet 😁👍
Thanks
Michael like👍
clever idea. Been thinking about making a wood hammer, that looks like it might be the way to go.
That's a great concept for a quick down and dirty wooden Mallett. Would sure beat the two-by-four with the cut in handle on it I'm currently using
Thanks for watching Neil.
@@BIGDOGFORGE thank tou for the great content
Cool result
Nice job Tim, I also see several suggestions for modification listed already. Thanks for another project on my list.
Thanks for watching.
Nice work 👌👍🙏 blessings to you and yours
Thank you! You too!
Sooo making one well cool man
The only change i would make is to drill a countersunk hole and put a screw in it to hold the wood from shifting around. Still a great job as usual.
Horace Jenkins I was thinking the same thing. But thread the handle and use it to hold the wood instead of welding it. Still that's one awesome mallet.
I like how you're thinking. Having the tapered wood will allow it to move and deform with use. I'm not sure that a screw would help. I believe that it would just act as a wedge and split the wood.
..Well done sir !! Ya done went and woke the squirrel in my head up. hmm, wood on one end, rubber maybe or leather on the other. hmm, !!
Good idea Man! thanks for watching my friend.
That is a very cool project. I like your solution.
Thanks!
That old mallet is like Eric Clapton's favorite Strat or Chef Ramsay's favorite knife. It's priceless. 😀
It is indeed thanks for watching.
Just in time , I need a wood mallet and boom there's a great idea. Thanks Big Dog 🐶
Right on
Yep tim entered the challenge.....I'm out this man is a jedi.
You're likes aren't there, 71 comments and zero likes? Very unlikely. Nice mallets by the way Tim.
Well done, Tim. I had forgotten about that challenge. Great way of doing it. I am sure there are as many ways to do it as there are blacksmiths. Thanks for showing.... TTYL......
....need to eather find the bolt for my finishing machines (ie grinder) rest or get my hands on a lath both to make tomahawk handles and one of these as its just much better than my current design as my current design. Got a forge big enough to make tamahawks now but no way to make a good handle for one in a speedy fashion as draw knife and rasp is always an option.
Good video.
Thanks!
Kinda what I was thinking but with a screw in it to hold the wood
Well done, brother. I have some Osage I'm planning to use for my take on the challenge.
Sounds good!
Sweet and simple. I like it.
Do you use the big forge any? It needed relining or something if I remember correctly. Just wondering if you did anything with it. I see it sitting there in the videos and made me think about it.
I used it to make the twist thanks for watching
Super and I thought the solution would be uranium filled wood.
cool
what about a screw to keep the wood from popping out?
I only use the end that makes it wedg in tighter.
@@BIGDOGFORGE thank you
I am learning so much from you
Neat! What's the reason for using wood?
To straighten hot iron without leaving hammer marks.. Thanks for watching.
@@BIGDOGFORGE Ahhhhhhhhhh...............dawn breaks over the hill.......Thanks Tim
