Another fantastic video! We wanted to take a moment to encourage you and your family in making wonderful memories in a faith-based and family based adventure. It's so refreshing to see how your family honors you and are respectful in your videos, something sorely needed in today's world. You always ask your children what they think and listen to their viewpoints. America's Parks are my favorite video blog and we always watch for your next video. I love how you explain the history of what you're looking at and make it fun! I truly believe that you've instilled many wonderful qualities in your children, qualities that they will enjoy with their families someday. Blessings upon your family and Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Sherri, just shared your beautiful comment with two of my children who are home right now. It encouraged me dearly to read your kind words. I'm so grateful you see in the videos what I aiming for! It's been a great journey for our family - many lessons learned, deeper bonding and memories created all for the glory of God. God bless you and so thankful you are enjoying the channel!
Always good to have a backup plan! We found that out the hard way years ago lol now every time we go somewhere we bring a back-up plan. Everything worked out though that canyon was beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Stunning sunrise and full moon in that morning shot ! What a way to start the day. Thank you for sharing the process for the wave. Amazing (and not supposing) how many folks enter the lottery. One day luck will smile upon you for all you give to the community of National Park fans. Maybe next time you'll get number 50 for Mike Singletary........didn't you see him at a campfire one time LOL. Beautiful slot canyon, looks like some modest yoga training to get through some points :) Assuming this is the last video prior to thanksgiving may I share my annual message of gratitude. Thank you Randy, Smith family and the cast of characters that join from time to time for sharing your adventures amongst God's grand creation. Every adventure brings inspiration and a strong desire for me and my family to get out there. We hit 6 major parks this year and 14 smaller units
Great words, Jymn! You have been have been among the inspiration God has used to keep the journey going! Wishing you and your dear family a wonderful Thanksgiving! ...and good call on the Singletary remark.... yes! you watched the Sequoia video! :)
Thank you Randy for another excellent video. Willis Creek looks like such a beautiful hike. Southern Utah is absolutely Awesome for people like us that love the outdoors. God Bless you and your friends !! ... Robin :-)
Thank you for such a fantastic video. Can you please do one video for the fiery furnace hike in Arches and also it will be great if you post videos of amazing national parks of Alaska - specifically the remote ones like Kobuk Valley, Gates of Artic, Katmai, Lake Clark.
Yeah, fiery furnace is on the to-do list! Would love to hit those remote Alaska parks. Lord willing, one of these days! Thanks for your interest in the channel!
Great video of a wonderful walk. I love slot canyons. We have nothing like them in the UK. Thanks for showing this. No matter how many times I do road trips across this region there is still so much more to see. Have a great Christmas.
We hiked Willis Creek this summer. We also didn't notice any smells and didn't experience any crowds. There were a couple other cars parked at the trailhead, and we saw one other family while we were hiking. Our family really enjoyed it. Glad you did too!
I can feel and hear the stone mountain calling my name now!. I got to run to the Rock, Don't you see I need you, Rock? I the sound the of a stream running through you calming my nerves. That's what I need today a good hike, feeling the rock. I said Rock! Don't you know that I need you Rock?
I really enjoy your videos! Here’s a hot tip. If you can get to Kanab tomorrow they will award 5 days of permits due to the holiday. It’s your best chance of winning. That’s how we got ours last year.
Great video. I hiked this slot canyon back in May of 2020 and it was slightly crowded but not bad. Beautiful colors and trail was epic. Keep trying on the wave permit. I tried 5 times before I succeeded. I need to do it again this year.
Looks like I am going to be needing to add a slot canyon to the list of "need to do" trails! Great adventure and really well captured. Love all the people that you ran into that really wanted to help promote the channel!
I didn't know you can actually go someplace to do the lottery I thought it was only online for the Wave. I have done the Willis Creek Slot Canyon before and it is pretty awesome! A great yet easy hike to do for the whole family. I definitely didn't experience the heavy crowds or the bad smells myself either. Thanks for bringing me back brother.
Thanks, Eric! Glad you enjoyed this one. Yes, one lottery online for some permits and the remainder are distributed via the lottery the day before the hike.
Excellent video. I'm sorry about the losing three times at the lottery to The Wave. I plan on doing the same one or two times in August 2024. Noah's flood did a good job of laying down the many layers of sand (temperature change can cause a new layer). I'm glad you didn't mention that the slot was from a million years of erosion.
Beautiful hike. Love the rock formation. The lottery system for these parks always put me on alert when I want to do stuff. My luck is not so high. But, I always try regardless. Next year with the increase in crowds at National Parks, it's not going to get better.
Yeah, same here. 0 for 3 on the Wave. Thankfully I did get a "Subway" (Zion NP) permit this past fall. Hope to get the video up around February. Merry Christmas!
Just did Willis Creek in Sept. That drop off you came to there is a path that leads up and around it. You should of gone 1 mile south on the road from the Willis Creek parking lot to get to Bull Gorge. There is a bridge over Bull Gorge and you can see the truck that slid off the bridge 60 years ago. It is still wedged and stuck between the two walls of the canyon. Both people in truck died. We also did the Wave lottery and did not get it. So we got 2 of the daily 20 permits to Coyote Butte South. It is the areas just south of the Wave. There is a wave there too called the Southern Wave. Almost the size of the famous wave.
Great words, Jerry... thank you! We did drive over that bridge and saw the truck looking down into the canyon. Not the greatest perspective. Must be much better looking up. Congrats on the South Buttes. Still hope to hit that one one of these days. Take care!
#34 Sweetness! My mom showed me a picture with him at her work in the 80s but I was way too young to remember anything. I do have Superbowl Shuffle on vinyl. The Bear with the best verse on that video was ....Steve Fuller!
Your Insta 360 looks really good! I have a GoPro Max and it doesn't have that much detail. Are you upscaling that footage or is that straight out of camera?
Can you explain that lottery and what exactly the lottery was for? The wave is unknown to most newbies. Thanks!! Great content. I always look forward to viewing your team's adventures.
Thank you! Yes, it's like 60 people or so that are permitted to visit "The Wave" daily. Most apply for a permit by mail in advance. Then some of the spots are reserved for the walk-up *one day before). That's what you saw us doing in this video.
My son and I love your videos, and are trying to up our game on our channel. Do you do all your editing? Any tips? heading to Utah soon, weve done 13 so far, USVI a few weeks ago.
Hey Billy, appreciate your heart for your son and the National Parks! Yeah, everything you see is done by myself (planning, filming, editing). Much of it comes with experience. Also good to watch other's channels to get ideas. I'd suggest investing in some good camera equipment. Mine is listed in the video description. Big thing... keep it fun!
Actually no drones in this one - 360 cam with a "disappearing" 10-foot selfie stick with a fish eye lens. You can always see part of the pole in my hand. Neat tool!
