  • A virtual tour and hike through Willis Creek Slot Canyon near Bryce Canyon, Utah. Read the complete story at our BackRoadsWest Trip Blog at www.backroadswe...
Hiking Willis Creek Slot Canyon is easy. Of all the slot canyons that we've been to in the Southwest (and there have been dozens), this one, by far, gives you the most bang for your buck. It's easy to get to and, even though it requires driving on a dirt road, a standard automobile should have no problems. And, unlike other slot canyons, you simply walk into it from where you park your car -- no ropes, ladders or rock scrambling.

You did it beautifully. It's on my hiking list in September. Thank you so much for pointing the nicest spots. Very helpful.

You're welcome and thank for the nice comments. Late Sept thru October is definitely the best time to visit that area.

I really like the way you did this, far more informative than most with a blend of overhead shots and text to show the various sections of the hike as you progressed. I do wish that you would linger a bit longer on the still shots and not cut between then so quickly. Musical choice was excellent as well.

Thanks for the comments & feedback. My intent is to give the viewer a "virtual hike" thru the place we've been. I would definitely like to have certain pictures stay up longer, but at the same time I get comments that the videos are too long. My personal feeling, is I don't care if it's longer than the "suggested length" given by pros, so you'll see more of our videos now lasting longer.

@@BackRoadsWest1 -- Yes, there are lots of particularly younger types that get bored if a scene last more than a single frame -- I guess they don't have a problem with epilepsy. And as far as this video is concerned I'd only want them to be a couple seconds longer. One other thing you might think of doing is editing in a 4K timeline even if you video is only HD so that the stills can be seen at the higher 4K resolution.

This was one of my favorite "hikes" (nothing strenuous), but man oh man! The drive to get there!! We went at the end of May, and the BLM road had the most potholes and bumps I've ever driven on (until we got to Monument Valley!)!! But it was well worth it, and we didn't get as far as the confluence because of time constraints - wish we had more time! The creek was flowing, but there were strategically placed rocks for dry footing. Loved this, as we didn't get to go down the Narrows at Zion (too cold/too fast), and it wasn't claustrophobic at all.

Thank you! Look at our channel, there is plenty to view. We are currently creating many tours of the Anza-Borrego area in California.

Depends on how far you go, how fast you walk and how much you stop and look. I would schedule 2-4 hours.
