Congrats! Hope they keep you busy... One question I have to ask, though (and I am most definitely *not* an expert in *ANY* way, shape, or form), is how thick does the concrete pad have to be to support one of these monsters? I'd imagine it has to be at *least* fifteen inches, and waiting for that to cure properly would take *far* longer than setting one of these up.
@@jeffanderson8165 Concrete strength shoots off like a rocket in the 1st 7 days of curing. Typically 70% of ultimate strength is achieved in the first 3 days. So, no problem there.
@Ellis Dee However the question has not been answered: "How thick does the concrete pad have to be to support one of these monsters? Does it need steel reinforcement? The rail ring under the crane obviously distributes most of the weight, but can it be modified to accept more or less of the load depending on ground conditions?
I am full of admiration for the Dutch and their shipbuilding and engineering skills.I was Mate of a Deep Sea Salvage tug for some time but we could never match the Dutch at this work!A small nation perhaps, but work of such quality!
IMO, it's a *beautiful* piece of engineering but (and I'm coming at this from the viewpoint of a know-nothing nutter) I'd be real skeptical about operating it from most anywhere; I think it's gonna need one helluva concrete pad underneath it.
I used this crane twice. In India for the Relaince Oil project and in Quebec, Canada in their refinery. I can set it in one location and lift all the vessels required saving time and money. And this is the smaller of the 2 cranes. At that time, the cranes were the property of Van Sumeren, which later merged with Mammoet to form this single company.
I understand your problem completely. My father-in-law wanted one to pick up his wife, but again, the neighborhood wouldn't allow it. (She's also too heavy for even one of *these* to get her off the deck, so it is kind of moot...)
Fantastic that the Dutch words for 'heavy lifting crane' appear to be ... 'heavy lifting crane'. It is possible that I just understand it naturally because I am 25% Dutch as my grandfather came to England to do drainage in East England although I never met him? 😁
just did a couple of jobs for these guys out of radcliffe on soar.they have dismantled one of there cranes which has been on site for over a year.i also took steel into the site as they where finishing putting it together at the time.the firm i work for hauls a lot of the weights and self drive modules all over uk when needed.
Think one of the positive attributes was quick setup time. Does that mean overnight - like tomorrow morning maybe around 9:30 am PST? Yes, I am sure they were speaking in relative terms - probably like 3 to 6 months minimum! and rush jobs cost a lot extra.
Apparently these huge cranes can be shipped in parts and reassembled on site. There must be a need for them. I can't imagine the logistics. Most really large equipment of this type is left to disintegrate where it last operated. There is no economy in moving it more than once. The economics of this business is a mystery to me.
Yeah right.. Only made for fun! Unbelievable how some people use their narrow mindset as reference on obvious matters. Are you by any chance USAmerican?
Kyle Bullard we have used them quite a bit. Some large oil field sites require a crane like this to perform certain operations for the full duration of the project.
Cody Ledford What were yall building to justify breaking down a setup like this and shipping it to where ever and reassembling? That's gotta be multi million dollar shipping charges alone...
They might work well servicing two dry docks at once at a ship builder, but I think the big gantry cranes would be more stable over wind. I wonder how much that huge counterweight weighed on the back end, after it was stacked up?
Its a specialized field that they would be selling too..just like tower cranes but structures are only gonna get bigger..we're still using cranes from way back..this will be here for a while..I just wanna know how much it can lift..
PLease contact the GM of this company I need the stone at Baalbek to be moved my watch is underneath it It's a TIMEX it takes a lickin and keeps on Tickin I think it weighs 1100 tons can you move it please ?
The first two question are really one but the answer is no. It's meant to be multipurpose. It's mobile remember. Your actual second question I cannot answer. To answer your third question. Maximum reach @ 100 meters (radius) with a load of 1278 tons. The ground construction has a diameter of roundabout 45 meters across making a minimum @ 23 meter plus the width of your load plus a few meters space. It can lift 5000 tons @ 32 meter. It is designed to lift 3200 tons @ 55 meter.
harbor crane ? what else ? subsidiary question : how much it cost to buy it ? ...and how much ground surface needed for it ? (i presume its more than 150*150m)
Wombat situation room just an unlimited tonnage and training on this particular crane. I know one of their operators and he just worked his way up through all their cranes to these ring cranes
In the US you must be State certified to prove you have the knowledge to operate and maintain the equipment. There are wayyyyyy to many "experts" out there.
I have an Open Class License. Took me about 6 years to become that qualified. To get the Open Licence I didn’t apply, I was recommended to a licensed training facility. Open Class Licences aren’t handed out lightly.
These new massive cranes are cool and all. But are they still efficient in terms of moving them around to different job sites??? I mean come on.... That thing looks super stationary. Its gotta be highly annoying to pack these things and move them
@flguy32501 hello. for example a cane like this helped to elect a new coal üpower plant in germany where it need to lift 350tons in a height of 200m for example. the extreme weights are needed for the new generation of gas turbines for example wich weight up to 800tons. there are a lot of thing in the heavy industry where such a crane can show his muscles
I would love to a model of this beast. I have several 1:87 scale cranes. Did anyone catch the weight limit? At 32 meters 3200 tons. A US locomotive weighs in at 200 tons.Amazing.

having worked around cranes for over 30 years i have to say this is some thing else! totaly AMAZING they can build some thing so large! AMAZING!
