When I drove up to North Pole from Wasilla on Christmas Eve, I was never happier to see a Three Bears! The ONLY (only!) place open that time of year for many miles around...even the gas station across the street was shut down, and it was COLD that day! Thankfully Three Bears has gas too! As for prices, since they're the only game in town, I don't think they're too outrageous ~ at least compared to Bush or Island communities. They have a super variety, and their fresh meats are the best -- which is great for the locals and travelers. But for daily shopping it has higher prices than ours here in Wasilla - but locals there can always make that run up to Fairbanks or down to the Valley or Anchorage for stocking up. Thanks for the vlog today! :)

Yikes hopefully the wages are fairly decent.

The prices are so high because they have to fly in or ship in just about all the products. The pay is not bad, but the cost of living is high. Keep that in mind when you holler minimum wage should be 15 dollars an hour! The cost of living and food will go up as well to offset having to pay a higher wage!

A little fun fact: the Ellsworth cheese curds are made about a half hour from my house here in Wisconsin. We love taking drives on sundays to the cheese factory. They are so fresh when we get them they are still warm!! Sooo yummy. Also, if it doesn’t taste “fresh” just put them in the microwave for a few seconds and there ya go! Our Wisconsin prices are very cheap compared to there!

Wow! I am very impressed with those prices!!! I live in Southern California, so most of those prices seem normal. Most of the higher priced items are generally due to the weight, like the water. Anyway, I LOVE these videos of Alaska...and of course your family, too!!! ONE DAY I am going to be an Alaskan!!!! 😊😊😊 Thank you for all you do.
PS: I am so sorry to hear about your Element. 🙁 I had one and it was just an amazing vehicle. The only reason I got rid of it is because I work for American Honda in Torrance, CA, and my lease was up with it and I think they had stopped the production by that time. Anyway, our wonderful Heavenly Father ALWAYS takes care of His kids....and He loves surprising us....so be expecting Him to be working behind the scenes on your behalf. Afterall, without faith, it's impossible to please Him!
Hugs to all y'all....from Southern California!

Keeping in mind that this is about ALASKA , where just about everything has to be flown in, large barge delivered. The prices seemed within reason for the region. But not so in comparison to the lower 48 where it’s much much MUCH cheaper on everything. So living in Alaska you have a price tag attached before you even start. Paying for the privilege of living in Alaska.
