By creating such an efficient EV design, Aptera is making solar-assist power relevant -- and that's "free" energy! While battery packs are getting more expensive due to increasingly high demand for raw materials, Aptera's approach makes even more sense -- smaller battery packs required to yield good range and a more affordable EV. This is the only electric car I actually want. The others are options that I'm willing to consider in the absence of something less damaging; the Aptera speaks to my minimal-energy/maximum distance ideal, and can do it while providing some of its own energy, which none of the other current offerings can manage.
You can back drive a solar cell and turn it into an LED. You can then visually inspect the panel. Note that the three panels are mounted on an Aptera with a headlight. I think this is a new gamma/delta.

I think the most important quote in the video is that they have put one of the riskiest design challenges behind them. Assuming they have figured out how to make their chassis in sufficient quantity and make a wise decision on the wrap, there aren't too many more concerns left. I think it's time to buy more stock.
@@beachbeemer There is vinyl wrap and PPF wrap. If they choose vinyl, it is thin, not as durable, does not hold up well in the sun, and is a deal breaker for many people. If they choose Cosmetic PPF, which is a thicker polyurethane film, that material is thicker, more durable, and self-healing, with a 10-year liffespan. The wrap is a point of concern for a lot of people, but there are wiser materials to choose. I am sure Aptera will get it right.

I'm currently 6,944 on the order list, and I couldn't be more excited. I've been following Aptera since their initial start back in 2005 and was very disappointed with it's dissolution in 2011. As soon as I saw Aptera start back up again in 2019, I was once again intrigued. To see the technological hurdles and advances Aptera has made encouraged me not only to order one of the vehicles, but I am excited to be able to actively invest in their stock. I believe Aptera is the future of clean transportation and will hopefully spearhead a revolution in the industry!

Great video! More videos like this every other week would be awesome. That would only be a handful of videos until Delta is revealed. One thing I noticed that seemed to be missing is the hatch solar panel. At 2:42 I did not see it in the layout nor on the rooftop shot. Living in WNY, it would be great if while the vehicle was preheating in the dead of winter that a reverse current could be applied to the panels to melt the snow and glow at the same time. A slow pulse like it was alive would be cool. Look forward to your next video.
I like the use of using the solar panels as lights at the beginning to make it look cooler. It'll always be a neat party trick much like all motors are generators.

So "in production", but the technician says the panels are close to the design goals. Which is it, you are producing the ones going on vehicles, or they are not yet ready?
I'm guessing they asked for 750W and got 700W so they said "That is close enough" so they're warming up the production line. They might either build ahead or (more likely) see if they can improve it slowly while the rest of the facility gets up and running.
Aptera is a Kaizen, or continuous improvement company. They will never say "good enough" or wait for model years to phase in improvements. This is not an either or situation on any of the Aptera engineering.
Not only cutting edge tech, but now production cutting edge tech. I am thrilled to hear that you're already capable of producing 10 panels a day. Outstanding!
1000 miles range, 4+ seats, safety, reliability , affordable. Aptera is pretty cool, very excited for their stuff. Let's hope EVs become affordable like 5-15k with those specs. Because the Cybertruck was my last hope for a overpowered spec'd out ride that wasn't 100k but now it's probably gonna be over 100k ;-; Might as well stick to something smaller

If it's scalable, it might give options for housing roof design development too! 🤔

Aptera is a Kaizen, or continuous improvement company. They will never say "good enough" or wait for model years to phase in improvements. This is not an either or situation on any of the Aptera engineering.
